The game resembles Age of Empires, but a whole lot better. smooth gameplay. My only complaint is that it didn't last long enough.

Mediocre - buy it if only if it's cheap

Kohan Immortal Sovereigns ('KIS')is reasonably addictive without ever grabbing the player and not letting go.

Playing the game in 2007, issues such as graphics, bugs etc. which would typically influence one's view of a newly released game, are less relevant. Instead, the key determinants of playability are the storyline, the interface and the elusive 'fun' factor.

KIS's interface, while on occasions fiddly, doesn't stray too far from the RTS standards. As a result, getting into the game is reasonably straightforward (although playing the two tutorials is certainly worthwhile).

The game is also reasonably fun to play - although it never grabbed me in a 'just one more mission...hey how did it get to be 3am?' kind of way.

The key weakness, in my opinion, is the storyline. The lead in is weak and, while further details emerge as the player progresses, the story isn't comparable to newer games such as Warcraft 3, or indeed games released earlier than KIS, such as Starcraft.

I haven't tried multiplayer, so can't comment.

In conclusion - if you're desperate for a new RTS challenge and have tried all the classics, you could do worse than KIS. If you can get it for a bargain price of under $10, then I'd recommend it.
