Brilliant return to form!

This is an awesome re-imagining of the original. The levels are fresh yet retain that overall design that made the original so fun; the graphics are great, although not quite "Legend" caliber IMHO; the audio is *TOP NOTCH* and it's a pleasant surprise to hear the original score made into a well done update. Overall, it's refreshing and gets back to what the original was so great for: puzzle solving and exploration!

This isn't the same as Warcraft, Halo, Fear, or Quake, but that's precisely what I like with the autonomy of the (lovely, accomplished acrobatic) Lara Croft.

I played the first Tomb Raider sometime in '98 or '99. It was so refreshingly thrilling to be able to re-live that all over again, but of course, with amazing, awesome graphics (I believe they keep you trying and RE-trying again at certain spots, so that you can keep admiring the hard work of their graphics. Like Part 4 of the Lost Valley...that whole section where you have to jump two slopes to get to the horizontal pole - ARGH!!! I spent two hours on that).

Having to find all the artifacts and relics, in order to unlock "goodies", only serves to make the game more addictive. I spent a full (infuriating) hour just learning how to use the grapple hook, but the one hour of learning is worth it. After all, there's the groovy Croft Manor and gym to practice in as well.

That being said, I was about halfway through, when my profile got erased by another user of my computer. Bum-mer. But I'm not complaining too much, coz it's that fun to go back to the start all over again. I've had 50% of the exploration fix and oh, there is that time trial to try...

Ooh, and by the way, I think this game seriously helps in the spatial development of teens/anyone. Your estimation skills are sharpened (with all those jumps across broken bridges, climbing up ledges, shooting enemies, doing wall runs, etc).

Where to start. This game definetely shows how the Tomb Raider series has progressed over the last decade in terms of graphics and new ideas and challanges. If you love the orginal Tomb Raider then this game is a must buy. Graphics are extradanary, the added puzzles and new moves such as the wallride gives the gamer a brand new intrest in an old lovable game.

The intresting thing to note is the levels are not exactly the same as the orginal, so it keeps experienced gamers on there toes so the speak, The creators add little parts to the levels which in my book deserves recognition, so I didn't feel like playing the exact game as the orginal.

The only negative things I would have to say is sometimes the camera angles is at your disadvantage and sometimes you need to guess on your jumps, and there is a bug in the game you get if you jump wrong, rare, but none to less there.

Great game, Great replay value too. I reccomend it to all Tomb Raider fans and anybody interested in playing the series.

Wait for patches: there are still some buggs!

Argh! I just bought the game, played for 2 hours enjoying the game... I took a break and tried to load my previous game and suddenly I got the error "Unable to load profile!". Hum.. some googleing and I realized that many persons were in the same case than I and that the problem has been noticed beginning of June...3 weeks later, Eidos hasn't released a patch yet!! What the heck? Their only answer for now is to overwrite a folder WHILE the game is running! Nice, I'm not playing at the same resolution than my desktop so each time I alt-tab, my icons on my Desktop are getting foobar. Moreover, their "solution" does not resolve the problem for the autosave in the manor: all the progress I made seem lost. This is probably an easy patch and I'm very disappointed than Eidos released a game not fully debugged. Advice: wait and see!

Pretty scenery doesn't mean a great game

I haven't been playing many video games lately, but when I read the high praise being given to this game I decided to get it and see if it could bring back some of the enjoyment of old TR games. I will say the graphics are beautiful and Lara's moves aren't so mechanical, but the game play is no better and in many ways inferior to past games. The bulk of game is 3 jumps & a grapple throw - repeated until boring, with the a few switch pulls - never very tricky - pick-ups that are pointed out by glowing orbs, box pushes and a bit of shooting. Highly repetitive and becomes very predictable once you get the feel for it. Sadly the way too short Manor level comes closer to being like TR of old. I guess some fans will argue that any decent game is better than the last two Core versions and maybe I should be happy with what I have, but it seems like a pale imitation compared to the glory days of the '90s

This is a really fun game! I bought it for my son on his birthday on July 2nd. He really liked it and so did his brother. Computer games are the best and much more reasonably priced than the console games. You can do so much more with a computer game than with an xbox or playstation or something like that. This is a fantastic game! Tomb Raider is always a winner in my book! Lara Croft is sexy and she rocks in this game! She is also very smart and a great athelete and she has so many skills! I wish I had her energy and beauty! I think I am jealous of her. Oh well, I am just a mama anyways, not a video game character.

Too many tricks to figure out the game. The author needed to put in a save game button. The author will save the game but where he wants to save the game. Every new site requires a different trick to escape. You need help to complete this game the author gives no clues.

Like the original game only better!

I've often thought that the original Tomb Raider game was great but when I would go back to play it I was disappointed with the way it looked. This is like the original game but with lots more to do and beautiful graphics. Lara looks a lot better too. At first I thought that it was not challenging enough then I thought that that it was TOO challenging! (Dang Centaurs!). You Tube was a great help. It had videos of how to beat the bosses and how to navigate the tricky spots. I highly recommend this game!

This game plays a lot like legend. There is not enough combat action for me. It seems like there are too many jumping puzzles to solve. The puzzles can be very frustrating. The graphics are great. It plays even smoother than legend did on my pc.

It could have been better

The graphics are truly gorgeous, the puzzles are interesting (though not THAT challenging), and though sometimes frustrating (with regards to controls and save system), the game is still quite fun. However, I can only give the whole purchase experience 3 stars, simply because the packaging was of quite low quality. Even though I bought a new game from this site, when I received it, the box was broken and wrinkled, and the disk was already damaged (with burns in the center area, so it did not prevent the game from running). I've been waiting this game for well over a year, and it simply doesn't strike me as satisfying when I look at my video game collection and my supposed-favorite is already damaged (I strive to keep all my games as "good as new" as possible). I caution anyone who is about to purchase this game; you may buy it, but perhaps you might wait till it's not so expensive and the price is the one that a damaged disk is worth of.
