In this new expansion, you can go on vacation with a single call on the phone. You can go anywhere from sandy beaches to freezing cold snow covered land where there is a wide array of things you can do. No matter where you go you your sims are guaranteed to have fun. You can even make your own getaway vacation resort, or edit an existing one. There are also new items you can buy and place in your home, as well as new looks for your sims. You can even meet people on vacation and talk to them later at home by inviting them over. I guarantee you, this a great game! It can be hard at some levels, but, always fun, as well as entertaining.

Absolutly addicting!!! One of only a select few role-playing games I've actually liked. Would highly recommend to anyone who has too much free time on their hands!
From someone whose spent [the money] to get all the games...

Don't listen to people who haven't actually played or bought the game or any of its add-on packs. 'Vacation' adds some new commands, character interactions, furniture, etc. but it's just another way to make money for Maxis. Even the once free fan-sites (with user created objects, etc. now have turned to pay sites; I wonder what initiatives Maxis gave them to do that).
So much more could have been included on the original game disks, instead of making us buy add-on packs one after another. This is the fourth add-on pack and I'm still not impressed. I guess I'm not easily amused; but I really expected a lot more. Maybe if they dropped the price for the packs,... making gamers who enjoy the games spend [money]...to have them all.
The Sims is a great game for about a month but it wears off. Seasoned gamers who enjoy game depth, a good price, and more respect for the consumers intelligence than Maxis has, should stay away from this series of games, unless of course you can get it for free.

The Sims: Vacation is probably the best Sims expansion pack to date. I recently bought it and I was extrememly impressed. If your Sims are extremely diisgusted and bored, have them get away from it all and go on vacation! Just pick up the phone, and your vacation cab (which looks more like a Jeep) will pick you up immediately. You can choose to either go for sand & sun on the beach, "roughin' it" in the woods, or staying in a lodge on the ice-capped mountains. With going on a vacation, you will meet new NPC's -- the Shark, Archie the Archer, the Yeti, and the Vacation Instructor (who will answer all of your vacation questions). Plus their will be new "neighbors" that you will meet only on vacation. After you get home, you can call them up and invite them to your house! You can also get souvenirs for participation (I think) and put them on a souvenir shelf at your house. Overall S:VEP gets a 5/5.

I am a total Sim-addict, and never seem to get enough of playing The Sims with all of the other expansion packs. However, this one leaves me disappointed. Perhaps I am just too accustomed to "the comforts of sim-home", and the vacation island does not fulfill my sim's needs all that well. It only took playing it twice to master it and get the special vacation award, which my sims didn't even seem to care about anyway! It takes up an awful lot of additional computer memory, and really taxes my video card's abilities as well; and frankly just isn't worth the trade off....as opposed to all the other expansion packs, which I would sacrifice even my Word program to play, thank goodness I don't need to! For a gamer that can afford to do so, get a mega computer with 512 RAM memory and sim all you want... or get a second computer, and dedicate it for your Sims!
Vacation is possible anytime of the Year!

This game is really worth the (money). You get sooo many new items for downtown (Hot Date) and community (Unleashed) areas!!! It really is the best!! So, i think it's worthwhile and if you're a hardcore gamer, buy this now and ignore all other reviews!
Great game??

this game is a great game for everyone who likes comtrolling the lives of other people. if you liked the original sims, you are going to love this one too! Although it is best owning all of the expansions so your sims can have loads of fun! You can do much with this game, if you also own hot date you can go down town and have fun. you can also meet new people. There are tons of new interactions you can use also. The sims vacation has tons of items and skins you can use. i think they should make one more sims after the next sims (the sims online) and make it the sequal with tons and tons of new items and interactions..... maybe they should allow you to buy cars and drive them around and maybe make your clothes get dirty so you have to wash them wit a washing machine, or they can atleast add a basement because most ... do have basement. But yes this game is a kick [butt]... game!!!!
Borrow game from friend!

This game is alot of fun! You will enjoy playing it. Yet, after so many days all the Sims games get so old and boring. You lose intrest too quickly. I suggest saving up to .... for all the expansion's and just wait for a friend to get tired of it and then borrow it from them!
