Hey I'm a big fan of wargames ever since panzer general, steel panthers I,II and recently medal of honor and battlefield 42 and nam....
I have to say generals zero hour is the best war game ever made...simply because of the near realism and ability to command weapons of mass destruction and modern military machines. The game is just flat out fun and its fast - yeah there are some issues with load time in installation and quirks online but this game rocks....firing nuke missles, scud storms are satisfying....controlling bombers, snipers, tanks make it seem like you're really controlling a battlefield and fighting a war....
there are other fantastic weapons to command like carpet bombing, spectre gunship straffing runs, artillery barages...its just fun as heck to unleash "heck" on your command...
there are superhero's to command to like general burton, jarmen kell, and black lotus...this game has it all and it is eerrily accurate portrayal of today's world military landscape, china, USA and Al Qaieda as the main forces at battle...
The GLA have suicide bombers, truck bombers and biological attack weapons that are crazy...don't believe the negative reviews on here cause this game is all that and a bag of chips...I wish they would come out with another expansion pack...the message board at EA is helpful too when learning strategies to play and watching highlights of the top players and how they manuever their forces...the game plays real time so the action is fast sometimes but enables strategy and planning in attack and defense formations....
fire a nuke missle and feel the power of a WMD only in this game.
Best Game Ever !!!!!!!!!!

I was surprised when i first played this game how much EA put into it. There are lots of new units, (Raptors that shoot down incoming rockets, tactical nuke migs, mini-gunners)and the graphics are even better than before. You can chose from nine different generals, each having their own special units and abilities. For example, the airforce general can get stealth comanches, and the tank general can get new and improved overlords. Ive tried many other strategy games, including Starcraft and Ages of Empire, but Zero Hour is WAY better than both of them. The only thing Zero Hour is missing is a naval fleet, but you can make aircraft carriers that you can capture on custom maps. My advice..........GET THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!
The game is great when it works.

I have a P4 2.6GHZ W/HT and 1GB of Dual Channel high end Corsair RAM and a Radeon 9600 Pro, and the SATA Raptor 74 GIG HDD.
Even with this system, the game cripples my computer and it is one of the extremely few times that I experience the "blue screen of death" that I haven't had to deal with since Windows 98. There are even times when Ctr.Alt.Del doesn't work and all I'm left with is the reset button on my computer.
If you think that EA games is going to give you support your wrong.
On the few occasions that it works, it is an outstanding game. I am aware of systems that don't have trouble with this game that are not as high end as my machine, but beware of the hardware combos, there is no telling which ones will work and which ones won't.
Very good value

This is a great expansion pack. It picks up where the base game ends. There are 15 new missions in the single player campaign, that are very similar to the original missions. Things start out relatively simple and progress towards the more complex. Later missions make use of new units and troups. All the additions are great and worthwhile.
This expansion represents the spirit of the original. However, there also is a new game modus: The General's Challenge. This represents a very welcome addition beyond just new units.
Bottom line: With this expansion, you should double the fun you got out of the original packaga, and with the expansion-price, this makes it a very good deal for people who liked the original.
A great game

I thought that Zero Hour was an insanly awsome expansion to an already good game, and I would give it five-stars until I realized something.
The USA has no detention camps.
Huh?

This is the best expansion to any game that I've purchased so far. It's not just more maps or more of the same campaigns. Several new features are added (specialized armies, specialized units, specialized tatics). The new campaigns were fun and the "challenge" campaigns are a neat feature too. The graphics are impressive; the sounds are better than the first game. And what a great price on Amazon!

Zero Hour has to be the most exciting and powerful expansion to Command and Conquer, I have been playing c&c for years now and I have never seen any thing like it. The variety of different weapons for each side is astonishing. I myself use the laser defense general, if you build enough laser turrents around the base, nothing can penetrate, and I even play on hard mode, still 26-0, never been beatin and only lost a hand full of men on each skermish, mostly because the airborne rangers smash against the mountains on deployment, lol. I would recomend this expansion to anybody who plays Command and Conquer. Totally Awesome!!!
pretty darn good

This is a good expansion pack... the Challenge mode is very cool... you pick the personality of your general, then you pick the personality of the general you want to fight against. When then game begins, you can hear the general from the other team laughing at your mistakes, and he's usually right. Very interesting and fun to play. Don't play this game on a night before you have to go to work, because you will probably lose track of time by having such a blast.
But there is a downside...
The user interface is still the same old interface that takes up too much space on the screen. And perhaps most annoying: Any time you get a mission report, you have to wait and wait and wait to see the pop-up descriptions when you are trying to chose which unit(s) you want to build. And speaking of waiting... if you want to restart a mission, you have to sit through the introduction video, and you can't skip past it. Hopefully the next version of C&C will fix these oversights.
