Don't Be Fooled by a Deceptively Boring Beginning

This a "more" 3D game than the Swan Lake game because you actually move around in 3D environment.
At first I thought this game was really boring (compared to Swan Lake). BUT my four-year old daughter persisted and continued to play, and she eventually figured out amazing parts of the game that the beginning had completely belied.
My girls love this game!

My 5 and 3 year old girls play this game constantly and they both can win it without assistance. Great game.
Varied difficulty, old style 3d graphics

I got this game for my four year old [she turned four three months ago], and she can do, or muddle through most of it. But there are a few mouse based puzzles that are just really hard, where you have to move an object through a maze without touching anything. I am a graphic artist who illustrates with a mouse, and they are a little challenging for me, so they've got to be quite hard for kids. Most of the challenges consist of matching puzzles, of which some are pretty nicely drawn and challenging, as the objects to be matched are pretty similar. A few of the matching puzzles are painfully simple and repetitive, but they are probably pretty well targeted at the five or six year old.
The complaints about the quality of the graphics are from folks unfamiliar with 3d renderings and modeling. The quality is fairly consistent with late 90s games and older online 3d games. It's adequate [particularly when objects are in motion, it doesn't matter nearly as much how elaborately they are rendered -- imagine the difference between observing a painting and watching a play], and considering the price of the game [I got it for $10 in a retail store], it's fine. The shifting perspective can be bizarre, but it occurs only in limited areas of the game.

This computer game is lots of fun for my granddaughter. It took her a while to get into it, because in the beginning she got a bit frustrated with the program, going round in circles, but eventually she got through the intitial stages and then she loved it. She is 10 years old and pretty handy with her computer games.
I can recommend this game based on her experiences with it.
Great for preschoolers

We LOVE this game at our house. My little ones are 4 and 5 and play it over and over again. We have the CD-Rom version and the graphics are nice. The puzzles and games are age appropriate for 4 and 5 year old children. The game recommends age 5 and up, but I can see why so many reviewers were disappointed. This is not something an older child would like. The puzzles are a little on the easy side--matching, etc. and perfect for younger children. Great if you have a little Barbie fan or two. Parents of older children should skip this one.

When I first put this in the computer I thought it was a badly burnt fake copy, the quality is TERRIBLE and I have more than the minimum system requirements. It is too difficult to move Barbie around, the silly arrow key movements are too difficult - she won't walk in the direction you face her, the angle keeps changing and I was suffering a major case of vertigo watching/helping my daughter play it.
The Princess and the Pauper game also has arrow movements (but thankfully you can use the mouse for most of it), but they are much easier than this one. Save your money and buy the Rapunzel game (our favourite) or the Princess and Pauper game, the Pegasus game is rubbish. Really poor graphics, difficult to move Barbie around, sound is way below par - a big disappointment - I'll be using this one as a coaster for my coffee cup!
OK,but 'blocky' graphics.

This game was OK,but the graphics? ugh. I mean it looks like everything-and everyone-was made of blocks! The beginning won't work that well on my Windows XP,but other than that,it's pretty fun to play.(I like to play the gem through the tunnel maze and the maze on the giant's table) I guess I have to get a new video card for the graphics problem. Anyways, one time I played the game and I got to the guy-that-has-the-ice-jewel's house the screen suddenly went blank.A few minutes later an error message popped up and said 'your computer has a serious error'.have you ever seen that? anyways, very fun to play, just make sure you have the right video card,(a 32-bit will do,maybe). Please vote on my review! PS.Its very fun to play, but i never saw the movie before. 'BARBIE LOVER'

We have several of the Barbie pc games and have been pleased with the quality of all of them, except this one. When we first installed this one, my daughter (at the time was 5) had a lot of fun navigating through the mazes. She was a bit frustrated at first because this is a lot more like a video game. Multiple keys are needed to move Barbie around, like the arrows and space bar. Once she got used to it she enjoyed it and wanted to play it often.
The problem is this game will not save to my computer even though my pc fits all the requirements. I had to uninstall and re-install every time my daughter wanted to play. This got old fast so now it has been sitting on a shelf because no one wants to be bothered with it.
My husband (a computer whiz who incidently built my computer to play games like everquest)contacted technical support and they were of no help, insisting that the computer must not meet the requirements. It's too bad. This game had a lot of Kindergarden/1st grade level math games in it that made learning fun.
We loved it

My 2 5-year-olds and I love this game. A few of the scenes had difficult controls, like the log jumping, but the games were just hard enough to be challenging for them, but not so hard that they couldn't eventually get them, after I'd helped them a couple of times. They improved their mouse control with the map-through-the-shelf puzzle and the crystal-through-the-caves puzzle. The matching games were also at a good level for them. And the mazes were again challenging but not frustrating. They played this for many hours - there are many games in each area, rather than just the 5 of some of the other Barbie games. The graphics seemed fine most of the time. My only irritation was the inability to make a backup copy of the disc - kids are rough on CDs, never mind I had twins and they had to take turns.
Zero Stars! (they made me choose at least one!)

I bought this game as soon as I saw it as my daughter and I both love and play all of the other Barbie games by Vivendi Universal.
I couldn't even get this game to work properly on my PC AND my system meets all of the requirements. DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!
As far as Vivendi Universal goes.... I will NOT be so eager to purchase anymore of their products. The robbed me of $30!!!
