safecracker pc game

okay, so after trying the 2006 version of the game and not finding it too dificult (took me 3 days to beat the game - that slide-lock dollar sign puzzle nearly did me in), i decided to search for the original game to try it out.

just loaded this one a couple hours ago. i'm taking a break now (staring at the computer gives me a bit of a headache, but i love puzzles). this one has proven a bit more difficult, you don't have the same navigation as in the 2006 version.

but i like a challenge, so we'll see how it goes.

Great game, but over too fast

I found this to be a really fun game, but it didn't take long to complete all the tasks. I wish it kept going or had more things to interact with - people, drawers to open, doors to look behind, etc.

Lots of logical puzzles with a satisfying ending

I thoroughly enjoyed this game. It took me about 24 game playing hours to complete it and it is one you can actually complete yourself. Everything makes sense and the clues are there if you keep looking. Definitely a fun one to play. It feels a bit dated compared to current game standards - you can't explore everything, you can only click forward to predetermined spots etc..., but the experience is still worth having.

i loved this

i really enjoyed this game. i love doing puzzles and those weird logic question-games. this game was good because the puzzles were not obvious (although i felt some of the narrator's clues gave too much away). there isn't really any action so if you're looking for the cool filler stuff between the puzzles, this game doesn't have it. it will definitely engage your brain and leave you staring at the screen as if the clue was going to jump out at you. so if you just want to breeze through a game you may want to consider a different one. if you are looking for the type of puzzle that keeps your mind wandering off even when you're not playing it--this is your game. i can't wait to play the first one!

For the brain, not the thrill

This is somewhat drab in overall creativity and interest, but if you are in the mood for some brain teaser puzzles it will work for you. I havent even been intrigued enough to finish the game yet.

Fun, but...

The concept of this game is great! I loved figuring out the safes; however, without going to an on-line cheat site there are some safes that I would have NEVER figured out on my own! Also, it has a very disappointing ending and once you're done, you're done. There is nothing else to do on the CD. No other puzzles or strategy games. So I felt it was a waste of money to buy a game that you play once and are finished.

It Really Depends on the Types of Games You Like

I recently purchased "Safecracker" because I love to play mystery games - but I have to say that I was a bit disappointed when I began playing it, as it wound up being merely a game of puzzles, without all the intrigue & finding of inventory items along the way.

Having said that, I do realize that some people really like the "logic puzzles" that are generally a part of most mystery games, and I do too, but this was just one puzzle after another, without all of the other "stuff" I've come to enjoy.

In "Safecracker", you play an expert safecracker whose been hired by the family of an extremely wealthy deceased man (Duncan Adams) to find his will. It turns out that Duncan was quite eccentric, and his hobby was buying & building unique safes to house his valuables. Your job is to solve the puzzles & figure out how to open more than 30 safes in a quest to find the will.

The difficulty level for these puzzles ranges greatly, with some being really easy, and others being extremely difficult. I had to reference a "hints" site several times, and found UHS Hints to be the most comprehensive & easiest to understand.

Overall, I found this game to be a bit tedious. However, I would highly recommend it to anyone who really enjoys solving these types of puzzles. How much you like this game really all comes down to personal preference...

Totally Fun

I can't believe that anyone wouldn't enjoy this game! I got it for Christmas and frankly, every other gift took a back seat for a couple of days while we finished this game. (yeah, we did have to do normal stuff like eating and sleeping, in between times) Everyone got involved in trying to solve the puzzles and it was thoroughly entertaining. I'd buy more Safecracker games if the company is nice enough to keep creating them. Thanks for a really fun Christmas!

Fun and Interesting game

This is a new game called Safecracker not the older one from a few years ago. I found this game interesting and with great graphics. As you work the puzzles and move to a new safe you can also move into a new room. The safes are on the ground floor, 2nd floor, attic, basement and secret room. I had a lot of fun playing it and working the puzzles.

An interesting mystery/puzzle game.

Unlike the two reviews before mine I actually enjoyed this game.

This is an mystery/puzzle game that revolves around your safe cracking abilities; abilities that depend on your skills in mathematics, logic and observation.

Most of the puzzles (with a little bit of thought) were fairly easy to solve; however, I had to refer to a walk through for a couple of answers (only to say "of course" when shown the way to proceed).

All in all, a fun game that was about worth the asking price. 3 1/2 -4 Stars.
