I purchased this game thinking it would play on my pc just like it does on the other formats: playstation and x-box. I was wrong. First I couldn't install it without errors so I upgraded my ram and video on my computer. Then it loaded great and starts. However, You are supposed to be able to pick controllers, keyboard or joystick, but this button is not lit up
on the pc version. Also, you are supposed to be able to pick different game options like manual or automatic transmission.
This won't change either so you are stuck with just the keyboard to play and no options. Not much fun when you wanted the whole game. I don't recommend it. I wrote to activision and am getting the runaround.

Buyer Beware!

I'm going to have to echo the sentiments of the other reviewers here. This game is very dissapointing. Like other reviewers, I had a very difficult time getting the game to run at all. I had to download a patch because the game originally didn't support integrated graphics cards. While this type of problem is common for cutting edge games that push the technological envelope; it is ridiculous to have this much trouble with a "budget" title sharing shelf space with "Deer Hunter" and "X-Treme Paintball." Even after installing the patch, I still can't get the game to work properly-only certain missions will run.

The box of American Chopper prominently announces that players can "Create, Build and Ride your very own Chopper." When I can get the game to work, it's basically a twenty year old arcade game with more modern graphics. You have drag races, get points for knocking over rival bikers, and get right back up after wipeouts that send you flying through the air. I haven't encountered anything about building and designing a chopper.

Someday, maybe the software industry will get it together and offer a serious Twin-V simulation aimed at more mature consumers-perhaps a motorcycle equivalent of Looking Glass Studio's great flight sims. This game, however, seems unlikely to appeal to anyone over the age of twelve. (If you can even get it to run!)

Fun Game if you can get it to run on your computer.

I purchased this game in December when it first came out, and ended up having to order it online from Gamestop because I couldn't find it anywhere in any of the local game stores. After waiting about 10 days, I finally got the game. I couldn't get the game to load on my computer, and like the other reviewer, I kept getting a "runtime error" or "access violation" error. I tried the game on my brother's computer, and it ran just fine, so it seems like it is just luck of the draw as to whether or not the game will play on certain computers. I have a Pentium 4 Gateway 300S system with 384 MB of RAM and a Geforce 4000 video card. Frustrated with not being able to play the game after trying several different things, I e-mailed tech support at Activision Value. I was told that I have everything I need on my computer to be able to play the game, but that there were some issues with the game not being able to run on some systems with certain video cards. I was told a patch is being developed that should fix all these problems, and that the patch should be finished in a month or less. Hopefully this will fix the problems, because it kind of sucks not being able to play a game I was really looking forward to playing when it first came out. What little I did get to play the game on my brother's computer, it looks like a fun game that follows the show pretty closely, so if you are a big fan of the show like me, you should enjoy this game. The game basically involves driving around on one of the choppers from the show and completing missions to get parts or other items for the American Chopper garage. As usual, Paul Sr. and Pauly don't exactly see eye-to-eye, so it's kind of funny to watch their antics as the game progresses. The guys from the show actually did the voice-overs for this game, so that is kind of cool. The game also includes some photos and videos of the garage and the gang from the show. All-in-all, this is a cool game and I would recommend it if you are a fan of the show. I would probably wait for the patch to fix the video card problems to be released before recommending anybody run out and buy this game though, because you may or may not be able to play it on your computer. Hopefully the patch will be released before the end of January, and it will fix my problems.

The game was fun but the controls were not as responsive as they could be.
