How could this game be so bad?

The most surprising part of this game is how bad it is. You would think that after seeing GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, and Halo, that the developers would be able to get it right or at least come close. But all three of those games are far superior in terms of game play. Here's why this game is so bad. Which again is surprising, since GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, and Halo. All have this!
1. The controls are the worst of any first player game (next to the first Turok). For controller settings, you have four choices, and two of them are button layouts, so really only two. If you like left handed configurations like Halo's Southpaw, or GoldenEye's Solitare setting, you are out of luck. And don't get me started on the horrible delay when you switch weapons and gadgets. Every time you switch a weapon, you think it didn't register and your pressing the button again and again. The auto aim, made me want to cry in frustration, cause the AI had them running so wierd, and the bullets fired through slow.
2. The AI is the worst. Even Turok was better. Most of my shooting matches we're me chasing some guard that ran in circles. I would see guards running in place like Michael Jackson. Tee-hee.
3. Too simple. The biggest challenge was dealing with how bad the controls were and how stupid the ai was. And to make it worse, they constantly give you hints like the camera panning, audio clues (sometimes at the same time), or display things you need to shoot in red. Thanks for dumbing it up.
4. The load time. This is the only first person shooter I've seen in the past three years, that has to load IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LEVEL.
5. Random stupid stuff? Like the solid beams of light from an enemy's sniper rifle, the grenades that go two feet when you throw them. The slow bullets that you can actually see go through the air (like bullet time on max payne but durning the game which is supposedly real time). The horrible sayings of the guards say over and over again. It seemed every level I had crawl in an air ducts and shoot down helicopters? Why do I have to kill the same bosses over and over again? Oh yeah they're clones, clever. Rocket launchers very rarely kill people, which just ruins multiplayer
I guess I should say some positive things. And they are not many. The driving in the game was fun and well done, but short and easy. The graphics looked fine, especially the women. But that just makes me feel weird.
Save your self some money, and rent this is if you have to. But stick to Halo, or go back to the old GoldenEye if you want to see a real Bond (it even looks more like the real bond).
this stinks

If I could give this game a rating lower than one star, i would. If anyone gives this game a good review, it's because they don't know anything about first person shooters, and they're still caught up in the fact that it's James Bond and they haven't realized the game they're playing [is upsetting] yet. This game has difficult controls, sub-par graphics, and a horrible auto-aiming feature, making it near impossible to kill anyone. Also, when you do strike one of the ...AI in this game, it will have little or no effect. You'll find yourself unloading a whole clip to off one guy. This game is broken up every few stages with a car level, which are much, much more fun than the FPS stages, but it is still no excuse for the circular piece of dung that is Agent Under Fire. It'll cost more, but if you're looking for something like this, go pick up Halo and Spy Hunter. Otherwise, hitting yourself on the head with a tackhammer is more enjoyable than playing this game.
What did they do?????

OK, to start I'll tell you the good and the bad.
GOOD-It has cool cars. Driving missions, with a shooter?, thats cool. Another thing that is good is the graphics.Nice citys, and environments.
BAD-To start the AI is the STUPIDEST I HAVE EVER SEEN. They run around like they dont know were they are going.Thats the biggest problem. Next the levels, AND the game are way too short. There is no blood. You cant run over people in the driving mission. You shoot the guys in the head and they dont die? STUPID!!!!
I WOULD NOT ADVISE BUYING THIS GAME.
A huge disappointment

This game represents a serious error in judgement on Electronic Arts part. I'm not sure if they rushed this to market or what, but this game was not even close to approaching the bottom end of my expectations. If you've played Goldeneye and other first person shooter games you will be incredibly disappointed in this offering.
The graphics are mediocre at best, the levels aren't even in the same ballpark as Halo and the game play is weak. It has nothing going for it but the name 007 which is why i rushed out to buy it. This is my first review on Amazon because I've never felt so compelled to help other people avoid what appears to be a mistake in the release of this game...
a disgrace.

I thought this game would be good. I was very wrong. It is terrible. It is the worst game i have ever played. It is a shame EA had to make this abysmal game. We have yet to invent a word or phrase in the english language to describe how painfully horribly terrible this game is.
Graphics: 0 out of 5
The graphics are extremely bad. It looks like a bad cartoon. Bond is NOT a cartoon! The guns look horrible. Every single one is automatic firing! Even the pistol fires like a machinegun! You also see lines of light go towards the people when you fire. The reloadings are quick and pointless. The PPK reloading is 3/4 of a second long. This game looks like a cheap imitation of a 1970s arcade game.
Gameplay: 1 out of 5
Extremely linear gameplay. You go forward in a strait line. Your objectives go along the path. There is absolutely no exploring to be done. The guards, when shot, go flying backwards like it's a bad steve seagal action movie. The controls are extremely hard and terrible. This game is not fun at all.
Sound: 1 out of 5
A baby with a rattle could make better sounds than what is in this game. The deutshe d5k sounds like a bad laser gun from outer space. All of the other sounds are muffled so you can't hear them and they all sound alike. The voice acting is okay, although there is almost no voice acting. You mainly here the grunts of baddies when shot. The only reason i'm giving sound a 1 out of 5 instead of a 0 out of 5 is because it actually has sound.
Multiplayer: 0 out of 5
It is so terrible that this game would've been better if they left it out. The movement and action is quick and stupid, and the maps and levels are small, linear, and painfully terrible. The horrible control scheme just makes it worse.
Lengthitivety: 0 out of 5
This game is so terrible that you will quit playing it before you are even half done with the first level.
Overall score: .4 out of 5
Wow. Four-tenths out of 5. That is pitiful.
Rent or Buy?
You shouldn't even waste your money to rent this game! It is so horrible. The reason EA probably made this game is just to make a few easy bucks. I will consider anyone who doesn't play this game to be a hero of the world.
This game is horrible. As I said earlier, we have yet to invent a word or phrase in the english language to describe how painfully horribly terrible this game is. If you want to play a good bond game, play goldeneye or nightfire. Those games are fantastic. The world is not enough is also good. But do yourself a huge favor and stay far away from this game. It is very bad. This game isn't bond. It is nothing to me.

This game is very disapointing. First of all the graphics are not that good. I expected a realistic looking game, but this is not that. Secondly there are not enough levels. You can beat the game in hours. Thirdly, the reason I bought the game is mostly for multiplayer. The player options are very limited. Perfect Dark on Nintendo 64 is a much better game. It lets you have simulants on your team and you can control if they protect you or go attack other players. The weapons on this game are limited and the levels are small. Nothing is up to standards. It seems like this game was put out in a rush with no real effort put into it. Overall, I would recomend renting the game but definitly not buying.

This game [is bad]. I think that Goldeneye, The world is not Enough, and Tommorow Never Dies are by far the best of the Bond games. I think that this was not a good idea. The graphics [are bad], the gameplay [is bad], and the multiplayer is even worst. Hopefully the next Bond game will kick this ones fat ... back to the industry to teach the makers a lesson!!!
