With the Age of Mythology Ensemble studios have a winner, like the Age of Empire series before. The Age of Mythology is a logical part of the Age of XYZ series.
I have played all the scenerios of this game and here is my impression on the game:
1. Graphics Quality
This is the most impressive part of the game. I played the game at 1280x1024 - 32bit, the graphic details were gr8. The characters were wonderfully rendered, the scenery was my lively, say the ripples on the water, very nice. Graphics have come a long way from the Age of Empire, perhaps a shade better than Sierra's Empire Earth.
2. Story Line
This time Ensemble have done a smart thing. The storty line has been split into smaller scenerios. As a result, most of the scenerios can be completed in lesser time, unlike the hours it took in Age of Empires. And if you are looking for a lot of mythological characters you get all of them here, Mendusa, Cyclops, Giants ...... from Atlantis, Greece, Egyptian and Norse mythology.
Overall this a nice game. However the story line is short. It does not have Indian, Chinese or Persian mythology, perhaps it will be there in Age of Mythology 2
Happy Gaming :-)

I am a big big fan of military warfare and mythology and I loved the trial. The graphics I believe are better than the well known Empire Earth. A must buy game!!

I like most RTS and RPG games. This one is absolutely excellent!!
It has pretty much everything... campaign editor, online battles, chat room, cinematics, and each country has it's own campaign. It has 3 countries like Starcraft's 3 races Greek (Protoss strength), Egyptian (zerlike in strength and unit productian), and Norse (witch I haven't prsonally played but are neither really strong or really slow. However, if your a major Blizzard fanatic like myself, you will be surprised at the size of the units. The minotaur are as big as a protoss zealot. At least you can still tell the difference between them. Unfortunately the campaign editor isn't at all user friendly. Yet the god powers and Myth creatures make up for most of it. The "battle net" isn't that easy to use either. But if your desperate for a fight with another human, you can always get there with patience. The Myth units are amazingly powerful and have great appearances, the Leviathan, the Cyclops, the War Turtle, etc. All together this game RULES! However, if you want an easy game to beat, get something else, this is real strategy, not luck like some other games like Diablo which I fiercly detest. By the way, you may want to pick up the Strategy Guide as well, it'll help.
Have Patience and Have fun!!!

I purchased the new release of this game released on 1 Nov. I am new this Age of Series but still I took it because I am a great fan of Mythological Stories. I must admit this game is a great fun. But don't expect to have fun from day 1. This is not a pcman or soccer like play. This needs a lot of reading help/online manuals. If you don't have that patience, don't even think about this game.
You should know what is the fuction of each characters, thier plus points and weakness, use of structures like armory, sentry tower etc, powers of Gods and so on. I use official Sybex Strategy guide which is available on Amazon. Still I am learning every day. Inspite of playing a lot of hours I still don't understand a few things. Like when I am running a campeign, and building an Army. I am looking at my farm. Somewhere on other part of town not visible at that moment
on screen, a single enemy soldier on stallion comes along and four five of my armymen start chasing him. I have no idea whats going on 'there'. When I go to that screen, I see those 'foolish' armymen have entered enemy terriotory and are being killed by enemy troops. Ofcourse if I had looked at that screen, I could have saved them. But it gave me no intimation that this is happening. This may be my lack of knowledge of tricks but there are some things like this which I think
should be improved.
The Game continues for days and I save frequently to come back to a certain back senario when I feel I can improve or I have made some mistakes. You can advance the Age, invoke God powers which I think is the coolest feature. Building a temple and worshiping gives you these boons. After playing for a week, I learnt about Greek civilization on age of Mythology. This I don't think though as an educational tool.
The 3D graphics is just great, but the text I see during the Game is not that clear. I miss some messages during the game when they come fast and even help during the Game is not very clear. May be its my PC, but I doubt it since its a p4-
2ghz large memory machine. If you get idea of what this is and interested in these kinda games, its worth trying!
Starts great, gets repetitive, not a real whole pile to do..

The game starts well much like any of these RPG Sim games do. Build your town, increase its population, build more structures, updrade everything, develop an army, send them all off to war. Direct who they should fight along with some strategy.
However for all its upsides and fun the game has a lifespan of about a week or two at best and unless you really love it you may find yourself quickly looking for another game for variation. To be honest I enjoyed 50% of this game but then it just got too repetitive to continue playing it any more and the point + click... see how it works, sometimes becomes just straight forward button bashing and sending men off in droves to fight some war and really, that is it. Create buildings, create creatures, create men and send them off to war and keep an eye on the basic utilities so that you do not run out of wood, food and gold.
Good but not exactly a ground breaking RPG game although it is a lot better than other RPG games out there, but sadly the initial joy becomes bordom. This was actually one of the few highly-rated 5 star games that did not live up to the hype for me and I wanted it to. I really wanted to enjoy this game but it does not tax the brain enough and the tug-of-war monotony does come on pretty fast.
don't ask questions just buy it

When i got AOM i thought it was the best game.i was wrong.AOMT
(age of mythology the titans)is better.microsoft out did them
selves.it's really fun destroying your enemie's town with a
titan.the units are balanced pretty good.i like the new god
powers.it's fun to time warp your buildings which you can only
do if you worship kronos who is an atlantean god.i think the
greek titan is the coolest titan.mirror towers are really
cool.instead of fireing arrows mirror towers fire a laser beam.
if you like AOM then you will love AOMT!!!!!!!!!!!

We bought this game for my son's birthday. It was not expensive and sort of a whim purchase. The game out of the box requires Rosetta (it's not a Universal binary), but if you apply the free patch from their website, it will upgrade the game to a Universal binary. This makes the game much more stable and enjoyable to play.
We had purchased Civ IV: Warlords and this game; my son has hardly even touched Civ IV since we bought this.
Great game, but really hard

Great graphics, wonderful gameplay, but it is really hard to fight. I tried fighting the anubites and the red spearmens, and it so hard. Multiplayer on the internet is really crappy. Halo for PC multiplayer keeps me entertained alot more. You actually know who you are and where your enemy is. Everything else in fun. I recommend you to go out and buy it. It's inexpensive and the campaign is fun if you know what to do that is.
An incredible game

Not as good as, Age of Empires, too fake/hokey, not nearly as much fun to play. Only improvement is the farmers only need to be told to start a farm once, not every time the farm is exhausted [big improvement in game play].
