Fantastic add-on to an already fantastic game

This add-on is great for those Xbox-360 owners who don't have a connection to Xbox Live. The good thing about the retail disc is that it come with the Shivering Isles expansion and the Knights of the Nine add-on included. The expansion adds more to the experience that Oblivion gives to gamers.

Quick note: You must have Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion to play this expansion.

PARTY ON, DUDES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great Addition

As much as I liked oblivion I have to admit the environment became a little monotonous compared to the diverse areas of Morrowind. The Shivering Isles expansion is a great addition to Oblivion and somewhat completes some of the gaps that I felt were present in the environment.

The Shivering Isles is a new landscape that can only be reached through a portal in the Nibbenay Basin. The new area is quite large, approximately 25% the area of Cyrodil, adding many new places to explore. It is divided between the brightly forested area of Mania and dismal swamps of Dementia.

I haven't yet played the Knights of Nine quest yet but the Shivering Isles is enough for me to recommend buying this expansion. If you liked Oblivion then this is for you.

Great followup for Oblivion Elder Scrolls

I got this from the download on Xbox 360 live and wish I would have waited for the disc to be released! It's a great addition to the original with new environments, monsters, skills, items etc.....Welcome to Oblivion the Dark side. It is fun to be bad, and they all are- and loony. Haven't finished it yet as they say it contains over 30 hours of gameplay. We will see.....This one is a keeper.

GOOD SO FAR

After you download the disk onto your 360 you use your old Elder scrolls disk to play. It takes a minute everytime you start to play. New characters, plants and missions keep you interested. I have yet to find anything worth much as far as weapons. They seem to be the same old ones. The missions are a bit more time consuming though.

Take a vacation at the fabulous Shivering Isles!

As anyone who has played Oblivion would well know, it is a game that, even when the main quest is finished, there is still tons to do.
Well this expansion "The Shivering Isles" should not be missed by any fans or anyone who wants something new to do.
There are plenty of new creatures to fight and plenty of new items and weapons.
It is simply a must have, if you really must know.
There is also a new original back story for this side quest that is pretty interesting.

The Perfect Companion for Oblivion

This is the same game offered on XBOX marketplace for 2400 MS Points. If Im going to spend that $$, I wanted to have a backup copy of the program and not in the MS server. For a little less $$, I got the game on disc complete with a map and case to sit next to my original Oblivion game for the 360.

If you find that Oblivion is a cakewalk, get ready to be surprised in Shivering Isles. New enemies, better weapons and new NPCs will surely keep you interested.

CD or downloadable content, Shivering Isles will keep you immersed in the world of Oblivion

Shivering Isles and Knights of Nine, good add ons to a great game

When Oblivion first came out for the 360 i put 80 hours into, finished all of the guilds and most of the side quest, after over saturating myself i took 8 months-1 year break, and decided recently it was time to get back into it and I have beat Knights of Nine(which is also on this very same disc) and am half way through Shivering Isles. And here we are...

Knights of Nine

-Good-

~Lengthy quest (5 hours), fun beginning, cool ending. You get a new outfit with fairly nice benefits, nothing jaw dropping though.

~Kind of boss fight at the end in a cool environment(i don't want to spoil it)

-Bad-

~Half of the quest deals with you traveling all over the map to touch shrines(to become blessed), you have to find 8-9 of them. You get a map, but the actual locations aren't marked on your main map so sometimes it takes longer then it should to find one. Became some what tedious.

~More fetching type activites then actually meeting interesting characters, go in this cave to find this, go to this other cave to find that, etc...

~Everying thing besides the new boss where you fight the boss, and armor, you've seen before.

Shivering Isles

-Good-

~Very interesting story, great ideas and concepts.
~New environment, new weapons, new armor, new tougher enemies, great dialogue.
~Great main quest, and some entertaining side quests ( the first side quest i did; i was told by a distraught civilian that he hated his life and wanted me to kill him, but he didn't want to see it coming)
~You come across some interesting characters as mentioned above.
~Lengthy, i've put 15 hours into so far and am probably only half way done.
~Decent price, you get what you pay for, after all, $30 isn't cheap for an add-on.

-Bad-

~Review after review stats how different the two worlds are, mania(happy/energetic) and dementia(sad/angry), but honestly, they're not that different. Don't get me wrong, you can tell which is which, but it's not nearly as extreme as i was made to believe. Let's take leaves off trees and paint the vegetation in darker shades and call it dementia. So far that's my only complaint.

For $30 this is a good deal because you actually get what you pay for. An additional 30-40hours to an already extremly lengthy and well made game. One side note, i bought this game downloaded it onto my 360, brought it my friends place and downloaded on his as well(he also had Oblivion). Therefore, if you know someone else who wants it you guys should split the cost because you just download it on your hard drive and don't actually need the disc to play the game(you only need the Oblivion disc).

Madness plain fun MADNESS!!

New characters, strange new adventures. All while working for the Madgod Sheograth. As usual with the Elder scrolls there are certain twists during the game, hours of playtime, and they kick in Elder Scrolls IV: Knights of the nine on the same disk. So all in all two games for the price of one; who can complain?? Great game, definately a thinking game so as your "teacher" would say put your thinking caps on and surrender to the pull of the Xbox. Have fun everyone its definately a unique experience!!

great adition to oblivion

If you liked oblivion and want some more questing, get shivering isles. Its a bit bizarre but hey, you've just completed quests in a land filled with elves and talking lizards so this will not be much of a stretch for you. Enter the realm of dementia or mania (your choice) and encounter new foes n freaky friends. You can use the character you already built in oblivion to wander about in this new area, questing and offing the offensive creatures that get in your way. Far from long but still satisfying. Interesting psycho drama. two thumbs up. Same game play as in oblivion, this is just an extension of territory with new unlockables. Have fun with what it is. I loved the mushrooms and the new armor...felt like a beatles song...lucy in the sky with diamonds...any way, try it, you won't be disappointed unless psycho plays drive you mad, but then you would be where you belong, in Shivering Isles.

A solid addition

Shivering Isles is a little weird. But that's to be expected. You're playing in the realm of madness. The expansion offers a solid continuation of the play you've loved from Oblivion. The story isn't as engrossing and you're not as encouraged to wander around aimlessly looking for adventure but it is fun. You're not missing anything by not playing this expansion but if you really liked Oblivion and want a reason to keep playing the buy/download Shivering Isles.
