Great fun for Yu Yu Hakusho Fans

Yu Yu Hakusho Dark Tournament is based on an anime series. Yusuke Urameshi, the main character, is a 14 year old. He was killed and brought back to life, and now is able to see ghosts.

The game puts Yusuke into an arena tournament fighting situation, with the familiar friends and foes from the show. There is a training mode to help you get started, and skirmish mode to practice your moves. Then there are arcade and dark tournament modes to get you into actual gameplay, moving through levels of difficulty.

You can't really compare the graphics in this game to other fighting games like Mortal Kombat. The point of Dark Tournament is to feel like you're immersed in the Yu Yu Hakusho world, and it does this quite nicely. The anime style and backgrounds are all very much of the Yu Yu Hakusho style. There are several different arenas to fight in, and many characters to choose from. Each character has his or her own style and look.

In addition to the basic fighting game, there is also a built in "token game". You earn tokens when you fight. You then move to the token game to use them. The token game is very much like a strategy card game, using a hexagonal based board. This addition makes the overall game much more long term. You have incentive to keep fighting, to earn tokens. Then in the token game you can build up your token stash to do better and better.

Definitely a game that any Yu Yu Hakusho fan will love, and play for a long time!

The last time Yu-yu Hakusho game I remembered was on Super Famicom (Super Nintendo). It was an awesome game because you could transform, shoot fireballs, etc. I considered it as a "game legend" of all games.

There was a similar game called "Ninku" for Sega Saturn. It was like Yu-yu hakusho 4 for Super Famicom. Unfortunately, the graphics and the attacks were not as good as Yu-yu hakusho. After that, no news about upcoming Yu-yu hakusho game.

I killed my time playing Tekken 4, VF, and DB budokai. I felt there was something missing on these games. Budokai was not as goood as the DB on Super Famicom, PS, and Sega Saturn. It couldn't block, avoid, or shoot the fireball back. My fighting game life was like hell ever since.

As I heard about Yu-yu hakusho game for PS2, I felt so happy. My 7 years of waiting has been answered. I hope this game will be great. Couldn't wait to buy and play this game.

killer! yu yu hakusho is finally out for ps2 n is one of the best animes ever my second fav ever 1st is DBZ :) well anyway...what i dont get is how come yyh dark tournament is out on toysrus.com but not on any other website lol all of them say it comes out there and in store sept like the 21st or 28nd when its already out here hmmm i wonder if its like dat at toysrus itself

wellim in general a japanimation fan but favorites are yuyu of course dbz,dbgt,blue gender and trigun ohh and inuyasha.but when i heard yuyu game for ps2 was commig out i past out i was all ways saying if they make a game of this a fighing game with a story line hope fully is a good game like teken or marvel ve capcom or street fighter you know, i have dbz budakai 1 and 2 but is great dont get me wrong but i waneted more more like combos easier well yuyu seems is going to be great and asome one of the best fighting games if you love fighiting games or eaven if just want a good game this is the one buy it of course when it comes out

As a huge Yu Yu fan i would be pleased with almost anything but this game exceeds my expectations. Such great gameplay and graphics. You must buy this game it makes you feel as if yout the player with awsome specials

if u don't have this game, u don't know what you're missing. yu yu hakusho dark tornament is the best game i've ever gotten. i like it because u can choose you're character in the arcade section of the game. in the dark tornament section u can't choose you're character, but the have tag team mode on some levels and u can choose the character u want that the tag team mode gives u. the game is based on the tv series. i hope u enjoyed reading my review

this game has all the charecters from the dark tournament saga of the cartoon series.it has the wind dude, the ice dude, Tugoro Hiei,Kurama(also Yoko Kurama) and much much more.

best for the fans of the show

Thias game takes place after "Rescue Yukina" when you think Kuwabara killed Toguro. Then Yusuke walks the street and sees Toguro I'll give you the lines:

Toguro: You thought you beat me,didn't you.Hm.You're shaking.
Yusuke: Get to the point muscles!
Toguro: I must show you my true Poweeer!!
(Toguro beats Yusuke)
Yusuke thinking after the battle: Stupid Yusuke!You got so scared you couldn't freakin'move! You idiot he's gonna kick your stupid a**!

THEN,Yusuke goes to Genkai to train for the dark touirnament:

Yusuke: I am back.
Genkai: Let us train.
(Yusuke gets beat up)
Genkai:Did you come here just to give me more of your crap?
Yusuke: It's different this time.

after that yusuke goes to the dark Tournament!The n it starts!
