The cut-scences are very, very beautifully mastered. Though the story is definitely not for a kid my age, the actual game is not bad at all. If you don't mind some blood/language/violence, and like the genre, I would buy this game.
Not for the Lame or Sensitive!

First of all if your the type of person whose enjoys movies like America's Sweethearts or Moulin Rouge then this is not your game!!!! Those of you who enjoy action and "mature" entertainment then this is your bag baby yeah!!!!!! I have been a fan of the series since TM2 and I'm glad I hung onto my original Playstion disk (Yes I agree 3 & 4 blew serious chunks!) The graphics on this game are great you cannot help but think to yourself that its games like this that made you run out and purchase that PS2!!!! It is an adult theme game for you parents out there please keep that in mind and I can appreciate a mature game to all you Sony Developers out there keep them coming!!!! I enjoy the character build up and the sampling of the Rolling Stone's "Paint it Black" I wish more of the song was used (maybe it is and I haven't gotten that far yet!!!! If your considereing purchasing a PS2 or have one already run out and buy this game its worth it!!! If you find it hard there are plenty of web sites to provide you with cheat codes to make life a lil easier, I recommend the (super bullets) machine gun code it makes the game easier without making it a walk thru the park!!!!

First off, This is the best Twisted metal game by far yet. I must say the graphics are great, like in the Junkyard when the rain is just pouring down. The missles have great sound effects as they are shot. Just an all around good game.
Now for the 1 downside. This is the hardest game to beat I have seen. I have made to the last boss but I have a lot of trouble beating him. Been playin for weeks and still cant beat.
If you wanna spend a lot of time on a game, Go get this one.

Twisted Metal Black so far is the best game I've played for ps2(I'm have not played MGS2) The game is great it has some of the best graphics that I have ever seen, the sound is good, and every time you try to beat the game with another character it is totally different; it never gets old. The story mode is great because they really put time in the plots of the stories. You gotta buy this game because with the limited titles that are out for ps2 now you won't be able to find a better game. If you do buy the game my recomendation is to play with Roadkill or Sweettooth because in my mind the are the best players. If you are i a mood to see a great story then definately beat the game with Outlw or Sweettooth. I hop that this review is helpful and i greatly reccomnd you to go out and buy TMB

Normally, when a video game series releases games for PS2, I can still play the old PS1 games in that series and enjoy them. But not with this game. I sold all my old PS1 Twisted Metal games on ebay. This game is so enjoyable because of the storylines, secrets, violence, great graphics, and replay value. You can interact with the environments, run over people and cars. When a player's vehicle is destroyed, the driver runs away in flames! Definately a great investment.
If you like Twisted Metal 1,2,3,4 then you'll like this one

This game has really good graphics and awesome gameplay. You can play the story mode with one person to see why everyone is in the tournament or you can play an elimination. The elemination is really hard. You select your car and you battle against nine computer opponents one at a time. The battling never stops though until you die. You can play survival mode which is sort of like that. Those are all for one-player mode though. In two-player mode you can battle against two to four players in a deathmatch. Then you can play the story mode on co-op and you can play an elimination round which is where each player selects up to ten cars. you battle against each other with one car at a time until the other person blows up one car then you swich into another. There are tons of cars to choose from. this game is a must. you have to get it for you will love it.

Wow, just when you thought twisted metal couldnt get any darker or bleaker, they make another 180 and make it look almost devilishly black. the cutscenes are very distrubign and twisted, and sometimes eerie. the gameplay is wonderful though. tight controls, fun gameplay... the multi player is even better! its the perfect game to have the multi tap for to play at a party... its a great game for a mature audience only. all the characters are back from twisted metal 1-4, plus some new ones! and the graphics are so much better and sharper than the others. dont waste your time with Twisted Metal Small Brawl. this is the best one to come out for the series, definatley. buy it. no ps2 system is complete without it!

I rented this game last week, and it was sweet! I didn't get to get to far on it, but the graphics are great, the handling is ok, and the level are huge and look real.(There are even people to run over!)Any where you can see, you can go.(except the bodys of water.)Most of the old cars are in this, and their drivers have pretty sweet storys to tell.(My favorit are Sweet Tooth and Doll Face, a.k.a. Darkside.) The point of the game (besides search and destroy) is to beat the tournament (duh!) and to unlock the hidden drivers, and the story to each contestent.

Car doors crushed and torned to pieces...Human beings flaming like torches exploding in the air...Innocent pedestrians crushed and impaled...Helicopters and airliners shot down in flames by a hellstorm of missiles and artillery...Heavy metal music...Fighting arenas that look like nuclear junkyard...Child molested psychos-killers ranting all over the place, driving customized vehicles armed to the teeth with flamethrower, rocket launcher, machine guns, guided missiles...Vehicles transforming into destructive robots...Cut scenes with crazed surgeon horrendeously mutilating patients and a defrocked priest launching is followers strapped in dynamite exploding themselves on ennemy vehicles after screaming REPANT!...Frame rates of at least 60fps that will get you dizzy sick and wet...UNBELIEVABLE...A MUST BUY. THE BEST PS2 HAS TO OFFER! FIVE STARS. Rated M for some kind of violent content...Banned in Australia and Germany for obvious reasons!
PS. Note that because of the horrible tragic events of September 11 2001, this game might not be suitable for some adult gamers. The possibility of shooting down an airliner and see it crash, then scattering itself into pieces on buildings might be a very disturbing sight for you!
