Even though I haven't played it it looks like fun!!!!!!!

I am a HUGE fan of spongebob. I plan on getting this game as soon as it comes out. You should too! It may not be very educational but I know it will be fun. Spongebob's the best all the kids love him and I'm sure they'll love his game too!!

Better than I thought, but the flaws are too big.

OVERALL (3/5): This is a wanna-be platform game that almost has what it takes to be a good game. But, due to some crippling factors, it dosen't quite achieve excellence.

GRAPHICS (2.5/5): This is where the game struggles terribly. This could pass a very good playstation game with these graphics, but only a medicore one on the PS2. The mouths don't follow the voices very well, but you can't expect much there. But, the graphics are passable, nothing more than that. I have to say though, the characters look just like they do on the show. So, they pass inspection, barely.

SOUND (5/5): The game excells here. The music is right out of the show, for every costume you put on. The voices are marvelous, straight out of the show as well. Great sound effects as well.

GAMEPLAY (4/5): Not bad. It dosen't really score points for originality because there are many games that make you do the same sort of stuff here, but the free-roam ability is great and really adds to the game. Plus, you get to interact with other characters in the show (Patrick, Sandy, Plankton, Mr. Krabs, etc.), and use devices.

VALUE (3/5): Well, this game is a little too short, but, it's aimed for kids, so it has a good excuse. There are plenty of levels to keep you busy and entertained, so not bad here as well.

fun with a BIG glitch

We got SpongeBob for my daughter who loved it. However, it has one very big glitch....It resets in the middle of play! We weren't sure if it was the game or the playstation unit and so tried another video game which played just fine. I returned SpongeBob and got another which played fine for about 1/2 hour and then started doing the same thing. The moral....The game is fun, but save your game ALOT! It became frustrating even for my daughter, a big SpongeBob fan!

As with the other reviewer, this has a BIGTIME glitch that it stops playing after the first level of finding all the letters to SPONGEBOB's name. At first i thought i didnt have enough memory on the PS2 memory card, but I did and it was not the memory cards fault. I have returned the PS2 game and hope the next one will be fixed, if not my kids will be disappointed. They LOVED the way it was played but kept getting mad when the game stopeed

I just got this as an early christmas present. I was a little afraid that it wouldn't be that great, but once I played it all my fears were put to rest.

GRAPHICS: 4/5. Don't listen to that other guy, the graphics here are really good. Yeah the lip sync doesn't match the dialogue, but who cares? The 3D world looks very nice, and the graphics are bright and colorful. It does have those trademark PS2 jaggies sometimes, but, oh well.

SOUND: 5/5. The voice acting as, as you may have guessed, the authentic voices of the show: Tom Kenny, Bill Fagerbaake, Rodger Bumpass, etc. The music sounds fine, so no complaints here.

CONTROL: 5/5. No complaints here either.

GAMEPLAY: 4.5/5. You do have to do a tad bit of searching sometimes, but other than that it's fine. A little easy, perhaps, but hey, it's all good.

Overall, worth your money.

Save SpongeBob

Got this game for my son for Christmas. He was disappointed with the game at first because, as others have said, it kept restarting from the beginning. But he kept on playing until he realized that the only way to get through it is to save, save, save! He now saves after he reaches each level and has had no problems with it. He's now playing and enjoying it every day.

Hey im 19 and my 5 yo little sister wants to say a couple of things about the game so bare with me.

"The game's real fun but the big glitch keeps messing it up and i get real real angry because i dont want to start from the beginning again other than that everything is a-o-k but except for the glitch that's not a-o-k bye"

We purchased this game for Christmas and it didn't work. While playing the game it will just shut down and "No Data" appears on the screen and you have to start all over again. We returned it and got another one and it too does not work. I feel there is a defect with the game because we have other games and they seem to run fine.

Don't waste your money!

I'm amazed that any company would release a game with the HUGE glitches that exist in this one!! The game play is fun, but my kids cringe every time they move from one area to the next fearing it will freeze up, which happens constantly. We're already on our second disk, with no improvement. Shame on you, Nick Games, for releasing an inferior product before the bugs were worked out and disappointing many kids who love SpongeBob!!

This is a great game. I rented it to play it and beat the whole game in 3 days. It is challenging to some degree, but it is funny to hear the pirates talking about how they like to get a lot of booty!!!!!
