Excellent, but NOT a music game.

This is an excellent game -- everything you read in the five-star reviews is true: the graphics are stunning, the gameplay is fun, and it's even fun to watch someone else play.

My only warning to you is this: do NOT expect a music game like Frequency or Amplitude. Rez is really just a shooter. The musical part of the game is merely an interesting feature, not the game's central theme. It's true that the objects you shoot explode with a musical phrase instead of a bang, but there's no way to control the placement of the notes. You're not really playing music, you're just kind of hearing it.

I highly recommend this game, but only as a fun shooter with amazing graphics -- which also contains a clever musical element.

Wasn't sure what to expect when I bought this game off a Japanese Import website. Apparantely, the Japanese version is much more plentiful than the American one. But I was quite happy. I have not gotten very far into the game, but I would say if you enjoy quirky shooters, as I do, than buy this game.

Nobody that I can see has mentioned the optinal controller only available through import sites, and the Big E bidding site. You really should check out this optional controller, especially you lady gamers. I have a feeling it would bring the "fun" factor up to 11!!!

This game is totally cool. You should buy it or rent it, as long as you play it once. Rez cannot be described; it is seen differntly by everyone who plays it. Get this game.

ordered the game on a saturday got it on a tuesday, cant be happier.

Does not work with Logitech Wireless Controller

Why this game is considered the biggest ' gem ' out on the PS2, i have no idea, but i recently played this game at my friends house ( he recently found it and bought it ) and this game is rather boring, stupid, and a waste of time.

But i guess if you like this strange ' genre ' you could enjoy this game.

This game was fun for ten minutes. They somewhat took my idea for a videogame, but I would do it much better. The enemies attack in the same formation everytime, and all the songs pretty much sound the same. This isn't a shooter, it's a boring semi-interactive music video.

If you want to play a game with some kicka$$ music in the background then play "Armored Core" with Metallica's Black album, or some other heavy metal music, or some good techno music, or anything else cause that would be better than the wack tunes on this game.

This is a unique game. a Musical shooter with little actual story, but fun to play if you like music, rhythm and unusually beautiful graphics. It's beautiful though, and later levels are stuningly pretty both visually and musically. This game can be thought of as boring though, by alot of people, for it's lack of plot, and redundant gameplay. It also seems to take a while to adjust to the camera. As for overall gameplay, it's enjoyable, pretty and interesting. There is a loose plot as well, just not as involved as most games. Reccommended if you've heard of it, if you haven't it's probably not for you.
