This is the game where every person will have different opinion. If you like this type of game, you'll like it so much. If you hate it, you'll hate it so much. I'm in the second category. Some people like this game but not me. For me, this just 5 stage short arcade game. And the worst is, everytime you lose in the boss battle (every stage) you have to repeat it's 5 minutes boring stage again and again. Better try before you buy. Yes, I think this game is overated (because of Sega name, maybe?)

Gaming for gaming's sake- Super Powaqatsi Bros World

This game is very refreshing. This game has no pretense of trying to tell a story or even acheiving any type of objective (of course there's a plot to it, but very thin and only found in the instruction booklet).

All this game tries to do is get you wrapped up in it's trippy light show TRON inspired world. The gameplay is ridiculously simple. Pass a cursor over enemies as soon as you can, release button, zap enemies. Simple as that.

This game is more of an experience than anything else. The epic final level will really impress you.

There isn't much staying power though. You'll pretty much beat it and move on. But if you have the funds to hold on to it instead of trading it in for another game, you'll probably come back to this game every now and then just like a favorite movie or CD.

Just think of this game as the Jupiter and Beyond segment of 2001, except shooting stuff and making it go boom.

If you've come this far ... you must buy the game and tell your friends to play it too! There's nothing wrong with this game! It's a great shooter, controls easily and looks and sounds spectacular. Unless you HATE techno music ... there's no reason why you shouldn't add this great SEGA title to your collection.

I read the reviews, bought this game last night and it's true what they're saying. Rez is an explosive virtual reality experience. Only 4 levels in this game, but play them over to see if you can score higher and unlock hidden doors. Some will like it and some won't but either way you should still buy it just to see how out-of-whack this game can get.

Amazing!

The games visuals, sound, and controls are an untouchable display of art, music, and entertainment. Although the story is unique, it is rather bland, but that doesn't take away from the game. From the first level to the last this game is hypnotizing and wonderful. Even when you replay a level it is never different because of the changing music and environment. The visuals respond to your every move, the scenery changes colors and size can change from just one tap on the controller. This is what all-video games should be; even though we all have favorites whether its sports, RPG, first-person, etc. this game is truly the best of the best. I highly recommend this Masterpiece to anyone who loves video games.

My first review of this game was rather critical. After playing it for a couple of days I was a bit disappointed with the length, difficulty (it's not very difficult)and simplistic gameplay. Compared to a similar themed game, Panzer Dragoon Orta, it seemed lacking.

Now, two months later, I have to say that I really like Rez. Few games have made me come back to them time after time as Rez has. Few games have compelled me to get my friends in front of the tv and say "come on try it". Few games have such a great soundtrack.

That said, my interest in Rez started to pick up after I realized that besides the main game there is a score attack mode. This is a harder version of the game (yes!) and is very addicive. While the levels are the same, the enemy arrangement makes it seem like a new level.

In addition, the more you play the more you realize how the game is almost set up to allow for combos (ie shooting multiple objects at once. This is part of the fun of the game and makes it more than just a simple shoot them up.

I could go on and on but suffice it to say, I'm happy I bought a PS2 for this game. I wasn't at first, but now I see what a great game this was.

PS - If you like this get Panzer Dragoon Orta for XBOX. Similar gameplay to this but also incredible (and harder).

A Landmark in Games and Computer Science

When has a game been this imaginative in terms of creativity? Only Sega dares to make artsy, experimental, avant titles like this, and they succeed with flying colors. Not only is the soundtrack phenomenal, the graphics are arguably the best and most complicated on the PS2 to date. The backgrounds are basically giant oscilloscopes that subtly respond to, move and cycle effects and colors according to music and player interaction. It works so well that you don't notice it while you are playing. It's no wonder why this game was code named "The Kandinsky Project" from it's inception. Try playing it while high or intoxicated for a real good time. And try to find that "trance vibrator," (a plastic toy that plugs into the console and vibrates with the game) while you're at it.

From a computer science standpoint, this is all amazing because it is generated on the fly in real time. The graphics and effects are so complicated that the game actually ran very slowly on the original Dreamcast edition of this game.

If you like trance/electronica music even a little bit, you really should give Rez a try. The gameplay is engaging, frenetic without becoming unmanageable, and the music integration still gives me goosebumps when I play.

Keep in mind that the notice when you boot the game should be taken seriously. It helps the game immensely to have an 'ideal listening environment' because music is such a big part of the experience. But, a good set of headphones works almost as well, if you have them.

All in all, if you love music and games, you owe it to yourself to try this game at least once.

This game is so over rated or at least rated by those who only are addicted to the game and techno music. The only reason to buy the game is if you want to listen to the same techno music all the time. The sound effects are NOT all people crack them up to be. The gameplay is so simple my 8 year old nephew went through this game with ease. There is no challenge in the game and if you do like the music in this game you will be happy to know that there is a sound track coming out so you can pick that up for 10 bucks rather than wasteing your money on this less than satisfying game which is 50 bucks.

this game is Tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight !!!!!!

This has to be one of THE coolest games of all time. The graphics are amazing and it is really addictive. Anything you do changes the music and visuals a bit, and the controller pulsates w/ the beat. The controls are super easy to learn (2 buttons, and the d-pad!)The worlds and enemies are really surreal. All in all, extremely cool. THere are a bunch of secrets to unlock, too.
