I just downloaded some movies of this game and I have to say that this is gonna be a great game. The animation is so smooth, the characters move like real persons. ... I'm buying this game. Dance and rythm games are very fun and that's what gaming is for.
Not that great

When I play a video game, I want to indulge my fantasies. The premise of this game is that you can become a back-up dancer. That's right - the best you can do is become a back up dancer. This game is perfect for people who dissappoint themselves, even in their fantasies. You shouold be able to become the head dancer and replace Britney Spears. Now THAT would be entertainment.

It is very hard to find a video game these days that simply does not have any value whatsoever. Even in the most brainless game there is something that makes it worthwhile at least as a paperweight (Harry Potter for example). Alas, Britney's Dance Beat would not even qualify as a frisbee. WHO IN THE WORLD THOUGHT OF THIS #(*&^!. Games that use celebreties' are bad enought (so-and-so's something-or-other), but this is ridiculous. Is Britney such a bad singer that she has to sell herself to gaming companies (I'd say yes)?

This was the first game my daughter played on her new PSII. When we first opened the game I thought "how boring". My husband was sure it had to be played with a dance mat since we just didn't undertand the point to hitting the button to dance. My daughter played it for about 1/2 hour until she also became bored. BUT, when a friend came over and she found out she could compete - we couldn't get her to stop playing.
Fantastic game for a first time user under 7 years old. This game taught my daughter how to handle the controles which aloud her to transition to a more difficult game.
Might be a better rental...

Britney Spears's new video may not be great but, it is still much fun. You choose a dancer you would like to be and you compete from round to round to become the newest Britney backup dancer. The game's grahics are very well done and even though this game maybe easy, it offers enough fun for all ages. The game's only flaw is the music. They could have offered more music to choose from. The songs included are, "Stronger," "Overprotected," "I'm a Slave 4 U," "Oops I Did It Again," and "Baby One More Time." Overall, this game is very good and can keep you entertained for hours.

first off read the review titled: "Not bad.... but could have been more" that person has done a good job of summing up the gameplay and the overall quality of the game. I would echo the fact that the game is fun for a few hours. The gameplay ramps up considerably fast and I find the second 5 levels to be really challenging. Only for the extremely dextrous fingers. The audio and video are both very solid, and I bet fans of britney (esp young ones) will really enjoy the back stage reward features where you can unlock footage of her rehersals from her vegas show that was on mtv. The slightly interactive concert footage is cool and there are a bunch of other clips of britney being goofy to unlock. All this would have been better if the film quality or backstage footage was really high quality but its just not so you are left sort of wanting more. The MAJOR drawback (if not for the following I would have thought the game had meritted 3 or 4 stars) is that it only contains 5 songs. That is just silly britney has at least 10 singles and other popular music games make it a point to include closer to a dozen different songs. I like stronger, hit me baby, oops, slave, and hhmmmm the other one escapes me, but its just not enough after a couple hours. Furthermore any parent or roomate listening in will be driven crazy after an hour of the same 5 songs.
One final note -- the game has a very nice 2 player mode that allows for a good deal of handicapping while still making the game fun for both players. That I can appreciate. In conclusion, while by no means a dud, Britney could have added another 5 songs and the game would have been a real sleeper. As it is its probably a better rental except for die hard fans.

I am a 24 year old female, and I thoroughly enjoy this game. I bought it, as well as the dance beat pad, last night. It is very entertaining and good exercise. I just wish it had more of a selection of songs.
Fun for Britney fans.

My daughter just bought this game with her own money (she's 9) and the first complaint is I think this game is over priced. However, if you are a Britney fan then you'll probably enjoy this. The next complaint is that there is only 5 songs to choose from. There should've been at least 10 songs and there should be elevating levels with more difficulty. The most difficult part is when the symbols (X, O, square & triangle) start to change, move and some even have the left, right, up, down arrows to coincide with them. I found that adding the arrows with the symbols blew me away as I wasn't expecting it when I played against my daughter (it's not that difficult to throw me for a loop!).
With that said, it is still a fun game, with music (limited) and if your child is a Britney fan, your child will probably love it. But again, it is way over priced in my opinion and I would shop around for some good prices.
