Fun, but hard

If you like war-strategy games like C&C, Warcraft, etc., this games for you! The earth has been destroyed by nukes and almost everyone is dead, except for you and a few other bands of nomads trying to make the world yours. It starts out like the others,(except for the different plot) with you starting a base and getting resources, etc. But where the others have pre-made vehicles, you design your own. You take lost technologies from other parties who are also trying to rebuild the world and use them to dstroy your enemies and build upon your own resources. The farther you go, the higher your technology gets. For example: you start with a machine-gun and you upgrade it to a heavy-machine gun, then you get flamethrowers, and cannons, etc. There are endless possibilities to the different types of vehicles you can have, it all depends on you're preferences. So all in all, this is a good and challenging game to anyone who likes war-strategy games.

Great Game

This is a very good game, centered around military strategy. Along the lines of Dune 2000, or C&C. You build military facilities and research technologies which allow you to build military units. As you discover new technologies, you can incorporate them into military units utilizing the "Design" phase of the game. This allows you to factor in and modify such concerns as cost, time-to-build, strength, intended targets, and speed. This also allows you to personalize your army in a way the C&C does not. My only hang up with the game is that it is hard to tell individual unit types apart on the main screen, and some of the controls don't work quite as should, such as selecting and labeling a group of units for control.

Great Strategy Game

The time limits means that you can not be distracted over-building your defenses. You must complete each level to get new tech to research new tech and manufacture more equipment or your forces will be obsolete. Game requires planning, and constant re-evaluation of your equipment mix and deployment of forces for every level of the game. Absorbing and great fun for those that are detail oriented and quick thinkers. Not a game for the physical fighting crowd. Requires patience.

Probably the best strategy game around but...

...the time limit sucks. Most missions require you to finish it in just 2 hours. This is quite impossible specially in the earlier part of the game (particularly mission 6) since you still need to fortify your base because the intelligent hi-tech enemy troops attack relentlessly. I would rate this game 5 stars if they had included an option to play the game with no time limit.

top notch

I've been an avid gamer for more years than I care to share, but I have found this title to be everything that I expected. To the novice this is will be tough and even tedious. For those who have lots of experience, whether it's actual or from gaming, this title will provide ample entertainment. It is challanging and it will put you through your paces but if your up it, it will be satisfying when the smoke clears. Semper Fidelis

Without a doubt, WZ2100 is a "Top 10" in my game library. I love its progressive nature from a very elementary beginning with light tanks on wheels armed only with machineguns to heavy - bodied hovercraft and VTOLS (vertical take-off and landing) armed with hypervelocity cannons, rockets, s.a.m. missiles, anti-aircraft guns, thermite bombs, rail-guns, pulse lasers, etc. The successful completion of each mission provides you with new technologies to research which in turn upgrades your weapons and base defense capabilities (oh yes, the enemies will attack your bases!). The time limits on each mission can be very challenging at times, but are manageable with aggressive gameplay. Sure wish there was a sequel!

this game is awesome on pc and playstation. it is my favorite strategy game ever spawned, and my favorite part of it is the fact that you can design your own units and create your own base. and unlike other games like starcraft you keep your base until that episode is over, so you can upgrade it and watch it grow. its too bad this game is so rare now, but im glad i got the game.

In top 10 of all games ever!

This game is highly recommended for anyone. This game undoubtedly, unquestionably is one of the best games ever in all categories and genres. I would say, and anyone else smart enough would say "get this game!" You can't possibly go wrong. The versatility and intrigue is unbeaten even still today after all this time. This game is a screaming blast, A+, 10 out of 10, grade A, top quality, pro choice. It just leaves you reeling for more....what new technology can you discover and research and then apply and build new weapons, defenses, etc.? The only thing that's disappointing is that they didn't do a sequel, the legacy died right there. I don't know, maybe because they didn't think they could improve upon such a masterpiece. Don't let this review spoil it and build too much of an expectation. It is definitely worth owning at any price if you have whatever it's selling for that is.

too hard

This game is too hard. Don't get me wrong, I like a good challenge but combine the learning curv and the controls... The controls take to much getting used to. The game play is not even very fun. If you like C&C you might like this, but if you ask me I will just replay C&C and save some money.
