what do you get when you get the best aspects of RPGs, Platformers, and adventure games? you get Tomba, an open ended masterpiece. its filled with dozens of unique areas to explore and creatures to deal with. Packed with 130 quests, you'll be busy for hours, and they arent all necessary to finish the main game, many side quests and activities to keep you busy long after finishing the main story line.
Basically you play a wild cave-boy with pink hair, and you're trying to stop the evil pigs and their plot. yeah. pretty random = ].. theres tons of lore and backstory behind the world you explore, but in many cases you need to discover that for yourself, by talking to various friendly characters in towns and other areas you learn about them and pick up a quest or two along the way, this is where the open ended adventure comes in, the entire game world is streamlined and fully explorable, with only a short load time between certain areas, and more areas become available are you finish the quests. you can upgrade your health multiple times throughout the game, and you find new abilities and weapons very frequently.
as crisp, detailed, and colorful as a 32-bit platformer could be, Tomba looks and plays great for its time, its pure fun. this is the Mario of the 32-bit era. and thats saying a lot. a classic in the strongest sense of the word. its a shame how much you have to pay for a copy of this fantastic game anymore, but its worth every penny. 5/5
A must have

I'm actually 19 but I don't have an account here. Just wanted to mention that I have loved this game since I first played it 6 years ago. At first glance it looks a bit childish with the brigth colors and kid friendly graphics but then again alot of great games appear that way at first (mario, sonic, pokemon, ect.) In any case in these past 6 years I am YET to play a game as unique and entertaining as Tomba, I wouldnt say it's my favorite game but it would definatly make my top games list. It is simply charming, has a solid story, and a very unique style of gameplay which proves to be fun and challenging. Whether you're 8 or 21 I would reccomend this game if you like platform style games and are looking for something interesting.
The best game I've played so far!

I play a lot of games, and it seems like since I've played Tomba, nothing compares to it. It's an extreme strategy game that takes some brains to figure out. It's an absolutely incredible game, and now that it's so hard to find, it really stinks. My cd's keep wearing out from playing so much and I have to buy the game over and over again at $20 a pop cause it's so rare. Play Tomba! and love it!
The best game ever!

I can say, in all honesty and truth, this is the best game I've ever played. Wheee! Tomba power! It's so addictive, I couldn't put it down once I picked it up! I mean, who couldn't love a green-pants wearin' pink-haired wild boy that goes around beating the crap out of evil pigs!! Yay! Buy this game! It's so rare to find these days, get it while you can!

... When I bought the game I expected the whole game what I got was just a demo tape. I was very upset when I found out. Sellers should let people know if a game is a demo or not before buying. ...I love to play Tomba but I will be more careful when buying anything from the market place sellers. So buyer beware what you are buying used from the market place sellers. thank you.

First, I have to say that I love this game. My little brother (he is 7, I'm 21) discovered the game on a demo disk that came with our Playstation. As soon as we got it we both had to start a game. The game is simplistic enough that he could play on his own but challenging enough that I never lost interest in the game. The individual "events" that you have to clear can sometimes be a little difficult to figure out, but usually the supporting characters that you "talk" to in the game give you enough hints to work out the solution.
Another 18 year old who loves this game

Tomba is the single best game ever made for playstation. Though it seems outwardly childish, the game is Challenging, and hillarious. I had to download a 17 page strategy guide just to beat it. Seriously though, BUY THIS GAME! I have never played a better video game, and this provides hours of fun. I have had it for 2 years, and I have played it through at least 20 times, and it never gets old.
18 year old still loves this "childish" game

I bought this game for my younger, 10 year old brother. The graphics were very simplistic and colorfull, obviously designed for children. However, after watching him play for a few days, I decided to begin my own game. And what I discovered was one of the most adictive, and difficult games I have ever played. It seems like a simple, childish game at first; however it progresses into much more. Like a 2-D zelda game, it gives the player the ability to explore a multitude of worlds. Yet it is far more challenging than any zelda game that i have ever played. It gives the player that great feeling of discovery, be it of a new level or weapon, that continues throught the gameplay. I am disapointed that I am only the first review of this game. Please, buy this game. It is truely one of the unknown gems of the gaming world.

This game is great, except for the fact that it is 2 years old. I mean, come on, this game already has a sequel out for it and it's still priced at 40 dollars. That's ridiculous! I guess I'll have to buy it at EBWorld or Best Buy
