Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed is almost the exact same as the previous titles in the NFS series for PlayStation. This time however there are only Porsches available, this makes it get boring rather quickly. The graphics are admitedly incredibly nice, but not enough to save this title. If you have an urge for the most realistic arcade experience then go for a Need For Speed game, just not this one. I'd recommend Need For Speed: High Stakes.

This should not be named anything like need for speed. Better would be "Need for Brakes". This has nothing to do with speed, but your ability to stop and corner around turns that are negative in degrees! what a waste.

too bad, it should have been great.

I have all other NFS and love 4 & 3. Back to # 3 to have fun and find some more jumps.

apt title for a game, suitable for all ages, espically the more mature gamer who would like to get behind a porsche, and 'feel the force'

A bit disappointing!

As a self confessed Porsche fanatic, I had to have this game as soon as it was released. The Porsche history and selection of cars is great, but the actual driving is disappointing. There is no "feel" to the cars. Also, not having a rear view mirror on the screen is a huge minus especially in the police chase games. The best driving game is still Gran Turismo 2. If you don't have that game yet, get it.

Porsches? Yep, even the venerable 914!

Okay, so it's not like a Saturday morning in the parking lot of Diablo Stadium in my real 914, but the cars are all present and accounted for. Crashes result in repair work (and bills). You start with the 356, and move through the Porsche production lineup. You can even work your way into the cockpit of the 917, and (if you're REALLY good), the GT-1!

If you love Porsches, you'll enjoy this game. If you're looking for master realism, well, there's always the PCA and SCCA!

Oh, and it's pronounced 'Por-sha,' not porsh!

Excellent

The game is great, i got it since ive always liked the Need for Speed series. The game gives you an in-depth look of the history of Porsche, or you can get behind the wheel of one. There is also a new thing called Evolution where you do the basics of racing and winning cash except you do it in time periods, for example it starts you off in the 50s-60s where you buy Porsches from the 50s and 60s which is neat then you move on to the 70s-80s, 90s-00s. In other words to sum up my review, GO GET IT!

Why? Why is it that you have an awesome idea and you go andspoil it? Ever since NFS3 hot pursuit they have gone downhillincredibly.

This time Ea have tried to carve a game that places you as a test driver. Great it is to, getting to drive really old porsches from the past to the latest 911. But why couldn't they have made it more fun? Instead of testing how smooth a car handles couldn't they have made this something more appealng? For instance why couldn't they make this a West To East cross America race? Speeding through the cities and open roads with cop sirens blaring, stingers lying in wait and a huge amount of prize money to the winner? Then you could truly call it unleashed! But as a game that places you at the wheel of prototypes (if you are in the right mode) is a very original approach. However I feel that this was just a big disappontment, I wanted to see the famous cop chases of Hot pursuit renacted utilising Porsches and the famous crash physics of the original. Both things sorely missed.

The tracks though are very interesting. In these you can go anywhere! Fly down an intersection where normally you'd hit an invisible wall here you go a new route! Great, now if only the cops were up to scratch... You see here the chases are absolutely awful! You must keep ahead of them for so long while they only have to touch you and you lose! That's not pursuit its tag! major mistake thinking down this route.

If you want to be a test driver, or just love the oppurtunity of driving all the porsches past and present then this game is definitely for you. Otherwise do the good thing and pick up need for speed 3. As this was undoubtedly the best one!

I have all the NFS game except this one, i just tried it with a friend. Same quality as usual, but i think you better be very interested by Porsche to go to buy this game. In my opinion, the best NFS game was the 1st one, because of the road course in the forest, (you don't race around a race track), then come the NFS High Stakes, because of the High Stakes mode, car upgrades, and the special car (the one you can't buy, especially the Porsche 911 is great, but you need to be good to win with it). NFS 2 was quite Ok, not enough track and cars. The one I didn't like was NFS 3. No felling in the car, not very realistic.

Fun and versatile but don't drive in the dark......

A good representation of all the Porsche models ever manufactured. Many different tracks and levels. Beautiful landscapes and cars. A must for any Porsche enthusiast. Electronic Arts generally always comes up with the best racing games manufactured. HOWEVER... The night tracks are almost impossible to drive on much less qualify on. The graphics shows the car has lights yet they are non-existent when it comes to driving. It is easy to get stuck on a night course without any idea of how to get back on track. Its like being in the pitch black of night. Would have given this game five stars but because of this major oversight in night track programming, I'm only giving it three. Other than this, an excellent game for any avid racer.
