Why? Why is it that you have an awesome idea and you go andspoil it? Ever since NFS3 hot pursuit they have gone downhillincredibly.
This time Ea have tried to carve a game that places you as a test driver. Great it is to, getting to drive really old porsches from the past to the latest 911. But why couldn't they have made it more fun? Instead of testing how smooth a car handles couldn't they have made this something more appealng? For instance why couldn't they make this a West To East cross America race? Speeding through the cities and open roads with cop sirens blaring, stingers lying in wait and a huge amount of prize money to the winner? Then you could truly call it unleashed! But as a game that places you at the wheel of prototypes (if you are in the right mode) is a very original approach. However I feel that this was just a big disappontment, I wanted to see the famous cop chases of Hot pursuit renacted utilising Porsches and the famous crash physics of the original. Both things sorely missed.
The tracks though are very interesting. In these you can go anywhere! Fly down an intersection where normally you'd hit an invisible wall here you go a new route! Great, now if only the cops were up to scratch... You see here the chases are absolutely awful! You must keep ahead of them for so long while they only have to touch you and you lose! That's not pursuit its tag! major mistake thinking down this route.
If you want to be a test driver, or just love the oppurtunity of driving all the porsches past and present then this game is definitely for you. Otherwise do the good thing and pick up need for speed 3. As this was undoubtedly the best one!
very good and too bad

i love porsche cars since i first knew about it in 1998. i loved it`s design,it`s peformance and it`s sexy look.when i first bought a playstation in 1999,i was also given "need for speed",1st version.i was stunned when i saw the graphics and was very much pleased to see my porsche in the game.i enjoyed the game a lot.i was sure the electronic arts division would release a unique version of need for speed for porsche, till i knew it was in the market.surprising to say i was the first man to purchase the cd-rom from the store.when went home and played it, i first felt great about the demonstration and the music it`s filled with, but as i came in to drive the "911 turbo carrera",i was first thrilled, but after the ride i was dissapointed to see the pale graphics that showed my 911 turbo.the car was not fantastic externally as it was in the"1st version" or the "high stakes" version.i was very much dissapointed .even the tyres were not appealing. they appeared as the tyre was not rotating and it was sticked with glue.i was not happy and i gave it away to my cousin as he liked the game for some unusual reason.i think and hope this review would make the creators of this game a minute to think about and create a good game in PLAYSTATION2,which is in the market taking over the playstation.

I was disappointed in the graphics and the gameplay was not the same as the computer version. The pc version is better.
