Fun, but too slow

I found this game fun, but at times it's a bit difficult and it's very slow going. It takes forever just to clear one level, and you lose many lives doing it. Not reccommended for kids or those (like me)who are not expert gamers.

The monkeys are taking over.

Ape Escape is the first psx game to use both dual shock joy sticks. The mini games are simply great. The mini games consist of boxing and sking. The graphics in this are great. There is clipping once in awile. The story line is a bit odd. In this game you are a boy named jake. you go through stages and capture monkeys with a net, BIG WHOOP your probaly saying. wrong you have to use more weapons then a net. Other items you get after you beat a level are a hola hoop that makes you fly and a monkey detector and much more. happy monkey catching!

Best game ever for the Playstation.

I couldn't let that 3-star rating stand! This is a great fun game! I don't know what's wrong with the guy below. My whole family got hooked on this and lined up to play it, from my 5 year old to me (Dad)! Great control, great graphics- we've had our Playstation for 4 years and everybody at my house agrees this is the best game (out of about 25) we've ever gotten for the Playstation. What a blast!

I agree wholeheratedly with the those reviewers who say it's brilliant! I loved it. It's tricky at first but if you persevere - ...that means reading the on-screen instructions to learn how to use the gadgets you're given and practising in the special practice rooms. Once you've got the hang of it you'll be completely hooked. The only downside (which doesn't affect me as I'm 25!) is that it would be difficult and frustrating for younger children (say under 12).

This game may look like the stupidest thing ever, but looks can be decieving. Very decieving in this case. In the game you are a spikey haired kid named, well, Spike. You are trying to stop an evil monkey named Spectr in his plan to re-write history and make apes the dominant species. Armed with your Stun Club and time net, travel to different times and send the apes back to monkey park. After awhile you will get more gadgets like the sling shot and a radio control car. The only problem is the length of the game. I beat it in a week. There is some Slowdown with alot of monkeys and enemies on the screen at once too. Other than those few problems, it is one of the best PSX games I know of.

You've just gotta try it- you can't put it down

At first it's a little trickey, but soon you can't put it down! It gets easyer, and quicker, you learn new tecniques, and get different gajets to help you get the bad guys! I recomend this game to any one with a playstation game console, the whole family wants to play!

We've got over 50 Playstation games here but this has to be the best of them all. As much excitement and adrenalin as a "Tekken" style game. As much creativity as anything I've ever seen. VERY cool. Highly recommended. No it's not just for kids.

Ape Escape is one the best games I've ever played for Playstation. It's fun working your way up the levels and getting new gadgets. It's even got a two player mode.

While I regard the Crash Bandicoot series the premiere platformers for the Playstation, I was pleasantly surprised with Ape Escape. Hunting down monkeys is such a hilarious concept it makes we wonder why nobody thought of it before. Overall, I found the game to be very well-designed, fun, and addictive. The graphics, while not as pretty as Crash Bandicoot or Spyro, grow on you after a short amount of time. The developers made optimal use of the Dual Shock controller, more so than any other company. Control is perfect. I also found that, compared to many other 3D games, the in-game camera caused me very few problems. To make it easier for younger players, the game levels are littered with helpful hints. While not a huge game--it can be finished in about a week--the three mini-games that are eventually opened up are a ton of fun and add longevity to the title. What I found most amazing is that each of the game's 204 monkeys has a unique name and personality. A tremendous amount of creative energy went into this title. You want to complete 100% of the game just to see every square inch of each level. If I can find any fault with the game at all, it's that you must complete the levels in a linear fashion. Other than that, it's an unusual and highly enjoyable platformer. Highly recommended.

Bored with those old games? This game gives you the best stuff in the universe. You don't just sit there staring at the screen with your mouth wide open and your eyes like goldfish's, this is plain fun. Some levels are challenging and some of the monkeys are tough, but it's an extremely good game. I'm pretty far, myself. Don't worry, you'll get those monkeys like eatin' pie.
