Better AOE

If you like AOE (Age of Empires), you should get this. It adds more campaigns, units, and civs. It also adds more to the game itself, like gigantic map. While you would think that they could squeeze more into an expansion, they didn't. But it is still a remarkable addition to a truly great game. However, if you don't play AOE that much, or like it, I wouldn't recommend it, because it is the same game, just bigger and better
Just adds new civilizations to an already complex game

Age of Empires (and this expansion) is a great game, but it requires patience, good attention to detail, and a LOT of mouse action. Use the opening scenerios to gain skill - you'll need it. Only for the serious game player.

AOE Rise of Rome is an excellent transition from AOE to AOE II. The game playing is what you are a custom to and look for. This is an excellent game to own

The Rise of Rome is a pretty good expansion for Age of Empires. It added cool new units like the Scythe Chariot and the Camel. It also gives the new map size and four cool new civilizations. A dissapointment was that they all looked the same. Also the 200 population limit on multiplayer is a nice change. Overall I would give Rise of Rome three stars
Great strategy expansion to an already great game!

I seriousely think that out of all the age of empires games in the series, (not including age of mythology)the first one and its expansion, Rise of Rome are the best. The reason being is that it has the biggest number of civilizations that you can choose from, its a lot cheaper (in terms of how much it costs) then the other AOE games, and also, you can create however many units you want (in the expansion) whereas in age of kings, you are limited to the number of units that you create.
Graphics: The graphics in Rise Of Rome are extremely simplistic, just as most strategy games are now a days. They are not bad, but definetely not graphics that you would want to brag about to a friend/anyone.
Gameplay: Typical strategy game is what is found in AOE Rise of Rome. Your objective is to basically eliminate your opponent or be the first person to build a wonder, which costs a lot of resources. It requires the mouse a lot, and a lot of clicking so your hand can get tired after a while, but still, that is no reason for you not to get this game.
Audio: There isn't really much audio in this game besides the music. The music is actually pretty good, compared to most games now a days.
Online: The online aspect of Rise of Rome is amazing. Hardly any lag, and you will be up and running a game in a matter of minutes. You usually use www.zone.com in order to play online with other people.
In conclusion, i highly recommend this expansion pack to all Age of Empires fans out there!

...look up there... I wanted to give this game 8 out of 5 stars, but it wouldn't let me.. Now, here's the review...This game is the coolest... It features many types of people, like Romans, Pheonicians, Shangs (is it Shang?), Macedonians, etc... The Age of Empires series is the BEST! I STRONGLY recommend buying this game (You have to have Age of Empires first, its an add-on pack)
This is the most addictive RTS game I ever played

I never have really gotten bored with this game even though I have had it for about a year and a half now. The multiplayer is easily one of the best multiplayer modes on the market today. It's so easy to play and to understand for a novice, but the versitility will make even the most advanced players come up with new ideas on unit formations and strategy often. The single player is good too for an RTS and gives this game unlimited replayability.

Though many people buy Age of Empires Pc games for the fun of it the games are also educational in the history of every country and tribe in the game. The Rise of Rome expansion is a wonderful game with features such as castles and chariots. You can build the biggest and most feared civilizations in the history of the world.
A great improvement

This expansion is actually of a higher quality than AOE itself. The Roman campaigns are excellent! One chronicles the rise of republican Rome, one the exploits of Julius Caesar, one the wars of imperial Rome, and one (the most interesting) the struggles of Rome's enemies. New music has been added (still as repetitive as ever, but different!), and new peoples, such as the apparently atheist Macedonians. A very worthy successor.
Age of Empires got even better!

You will love playing this game. If you enjoyed the first Age of Empires, you are in for a surprise. One of the big changes is you can produce more than one person from the production queen. Online play is still fun too. I must warn you though, this game is very addicting. I find myself sleeping three to five hours a night because of this game. Sound ridiculous? It wont after you become good. Have fun and good luck in your rise of rome career.
