OS x carbonized

I agree with all the reviews. This expansion is a lot of fun. I wanted to mention for people who have had to play the other expansions in classic only, that hot date will update all previous expansions and carbonize them for osx, so you never have to switch to classic again to play.

Downtown not all it's cracked up to be

Pro's and Cons for Hot date:
Pros:
New Social Interations - lots of kissing, hugging, cuddling etc..
Ways for the Sims to get out of the house is definitely a bonus, and it's also stupid that they couldn't leave the house in the first place!!
New Hot Tub, and other items to help with dating, like buying items at the mall though they are very limited - roses, jewelry, swimwear, lingerie, and formal wear, candy and teddy bears.
Yoou don't lose time while downtown, you can go at 7:00 pm and stay all night and when you arrive back home it is still 7 pm, even if your Sims are falling down with exhaustion.

Con's
The downtown area is very slow, even slower the more characters you have in your game.
It's harder to make friends and keep them.
Your energy levels seem to disapear a lot faster while downtown.
I tried to make an Espresso bar for downtown to help with this problem but the Espresso machine is not available in downtown creation. nor is the coffee machine.
I have lost newly created businesses for downtown, every time I create them even though I saved them, I have made changes to existing businesses and the park and they won't be there for a while and then suddenly turn up a week later??
The people you take downtown with you don't seem to be able to go to the bathroom on thier own, you have to go in order for them to.

I Loved the original Sims when I bought it and got hot date because it seemed to be the one that offered the most social interations, but I think Livin Large would have been the better investment.

This is technological discrimination!!!!

WHY is The Sims Hot Date the newest, coolest, most popular new Sims expansion for Apple, when, to PC users, Vacation is old news and Unleashed is dead ahead? Anyone? I didn't think so. Apple is THE computer of the future, and it's not fair that we Mac users have to wait MONTHS for the best games, and when they (the games) DO come out, there are always technical problems. Hot Date, Civilization 3, Sim Theme Park and Black and White are some of the technologically demanding games that will force you to download patches, crash your computer, and make you spend hours on installation.

Memory Hog

Neat idea - get the Sims out of their houses and have them interact. The only problem? This is a HUGE memory hog! It's fun but make sure you have enough free memory to run this.

IT COOL BUT HARD!!!

I thought that it was really cool taking yours sims on a date!! It is a little hard for them to fall in love but you well really enjoy seeing it if you do get it!!!! After that you can get married!! And then you can adopt or have a baby after you fall in love! But it is really hard work to get a baby or even get married. A lot of kissing and hugging! Make sure to take a lot of pictures!!

Fun, but crashes a lot.

After I loaded this game onto my computer, I only had it up and running a few minutes before it crashed the first time. I still am bothered with crashes pretty regularly. These take all of the usual forms:freeze crashes, application unexpectedly quit crashes and "stuck record" crashes. There is nothing in particular that seems to bring them on. It just crashes. I don't know if the EA website had patches to fix any of the bugs at this point or not.

On the other hand, the game is a lot of fun and has some nifty additions from the earlier versions of the game. Your Sims are able to interact in more natural and more varied ways than in the past. Also, there are some new toys (like a new hot tub) which allow more fun options for your Sims.

It is a lot of fun to build shopping centers, parks and restaurants and other gathering places for the Sims. The game is pretty is intuitive and it is easy to catch on the the new changes from earlier editions.

All things taken into consideration: have fun watching your Sims explore their romantic side. Just back up a lot.

Hot Date is a Hot Game

This game is off the hook! You can go to the mall and stuff. You can also (like the game title says) go on a date. You can go eat and then go shopping for a lovely necklace to give to your date. This is the best Sims game EVER!

WATCH OUT! If you purchase a Guinea pig for your sim, they can become deadly ill (This happened to my family) and there is no cure, unless you already own "Sims Livin' Large".This game is really cool, it offers lots more options on talking, hugging, kissing, saying hello and goodbye, it also adds a bunch of interactions like: poke, leap into arms, and many other things. But the downtown is nice too, you can meet loads of random Sims, and you can buy hotdogs, sit in fancy restaurants, you can also get them to get picnic baskets, and feed fish in fish ponds. One of the reasons this is not a 5 star review, (other than the Guinea pig disase) is that at first (well at first for my computar) it was very, very slow, and it was hard to controll my Sims. Another complaint: kids can't go downtown! I wanted my three Sim kids to go downtown and it wouldn't let me, that's a BIG reason why this review is 4 stars! I may have a lot of complaints, but that is basicly it, and there are a bunch of good things about this expansion (it's one of the best) and I recomend it, but more for the new interactions, then the downtown (although the furniture is pretty neat)
