THE BEST

I'm a real fanatic of the WINNING ELEVEN SERIES, and i let you know that this is the best of all, this is real simulation, the graphics are just so perfect, not shiny and saturated, real colors; the players have smooth movements, the ball speed is real not exaggerated; i love it, and if you can find the first JAPANESE version even better! not this American version, not the Japanese League version, the FIRST ONE! sponsored by Adidas; everything is in Japanese: text, comments, uh! EPIC!

Better than Pro Evolution Soccer 2008? YES. imo. just try it.

Really amazing as Netherlands is too..!!

I've been playing this game since some months ago and I can't tell you how exciting and how real it is. The performance is real good, the audio comments are so exciting, the stadiums overwiew is so real, that's for it that I can give the game 5 stars. Also, all the unforgetable soccer highlights are in there, names as Van Hooijdonk, Hasselbaink, Ariel Ortega, Batistuta, N. Quinn, Alex Aguinaga, Luis Hernandez, R. Nestor Sensini, Jose Luis F. Chilavert... It's great and amazing, just believe me...!! Play this game and wait for me to be your new challenger.!!!..

THIS IS GONNA BE THE BEST SOCCER GAME EVER!

if 5 stars implies perfection, then there are a few on here who need their heads examined. without a doubt, we11 is the best football game but it has more than its share of problems:

- licensing is something konami should really shell out a few extra yen for.. it's silly to think that there is a huge glut of 'fifa-only' football fans in the world who won't buy this game simply because of the absence of a license! i don't particularly fault these fans either, after all they'll be paying for the game. personally i couldn't give two sh*ts about real names or not but konami should have a serious look at their business model!

- gameplay is difficult and sometimes arbitrary. people claim that all manner of situations are possible with this game but i've had it for 2 years and usually score from just outside the box WAY more than any other time. have scored from a corner just once. (owned iss pro '98 and played it to death so this isn't my first konami game either.) on level 3 i found the computer would ratchet up the difficulty during games without warning, almost as if it wanted something to happen, eg. a completely ridiculous sequence of skillful moves leading to a goal that you would imagine only a div. 1 or 2 team capable of pulling off.

- the game forces you to learn the advanced button combinations in order to 'unlock' more depth. in a football video game (and this applies in real life football) it shouldn't be necessary to have to hold down a shoulder button while passing the ball and pressing another to perform a 1-2 or whatever.. simple one-touch button pass back to the original player should be enough, bang. i pass it to you and used the same button to ping it back.. instead the ball often drifts into no-man's land where the defense gobbles it up.

- the through ball needs serious re-working. its use is tilted too much toward attack; you should be able to use it outside your own box just as you should in the opponent's box. instead, the game thinks you want to hammer a 25 yard ball on the ground up the field to an attacker off-screen, when all you want is a simple 4 yard run into space from your defender between opponents!

- as someone mentioned earlier in these reviews, there seems to be a buffer around your player that causes analog stick movement/reactions to be sluggish. i've noticed this with higher-rated players too so it's not just a rating/poor player problem. there is a fundamental dearth of 'felt response' when moving and even shooting..

- shooting is a bit mixed up as a whole too, often a shot you've suspected of being a dribbler ends up speeding into the bottom corner while one you imagine bound for the top corner is kept out by an unrealistic save.

- long balls are almost never hit into space over your (or defender's) head. always a 50-50 heading challenge. this isn't really like football

- overall presentation is a bit too focused on recreating what football is like on tv, a fifa-syndrome that i'd prefer konami to steer well clear of

- goal celebrations are just a joke

- commentary in all games is stupid, same here

- crowd sound is sub-adequate, reactions are delayed and hollow sounding, non-immersive (it really feels as if the developers watch a lot of ball on telly but don't actually go to games!)

- menus are terrible, clunky, and frustrating - it really shouldn't be this difficult to enjoy yourself!

like i say, i've played this game quite a lot and believe whole-heartedly that simple, effective football in a game should be SIMPLE to perform. a more intuitive control scheme. i'm obviously biased from iss '98 which i thought had an incredible balance and beautiful feel. i haven't played a fifa in years so can't fairly compare we 6 to that game.

do yourself a favor and rent this game! it's the best but there are still plenty of areas of improvement.

GREAT!@!!

Game is great, the best out there. A few problems are:

1. dribbling is not as responsive as it shoud be. KONOMI needs to address the analoge stick more instead of the keypad.

2. sound is horrible. Only mono or Stereo?? How about support for Dolby Pro logig? DTS maybe?? A game that's this good deserves better sound. Also commentating can get very repetative. Crown doesnt sond as good either

3. Graphics need improving. Overall though in-play graphic are very good.

GREAT!@!!

4. BIG need for online gameplay!!!!!!!!

But despite all the negative in fact it's really an awsome soccer game. Way better then Fifa 2004! If Konomi addressed these small problems this game would be unstopable!!

Not Perfect YET!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok I have to play Devils advicate and say what's wronge with this game. First, the controls are way complicated. Thats a good and bad thing. For 1, if you dont have the time needed to dedicate yourself to mastering these controls, and I mean you REALLY need time to get it down smoothly, you are basically left in the dust and left with a no fun to play game. Unlike FIFA 2004, were you can pick it up almost right away. Also, the commentating as REALLY bad. Alot of repetition. And the announcers sound very choppy as well. It boarders on being unlistenable!! I usually turn down the commentating just below the crowd volume. On the flip side FIFA 2004 has some of the best commentating i've ever heard in a football game thus far. Graphics are another thing. While they are very good, FIFA 2004 just has an edge there with a more realistic looking game. Although "Winning" has some very nice fluid player movements. And of course everyone can complain about the real/fake club and player names. But that doesnt bother me really considering you can go online and download the real player/team file for your memory card. Or if you have a free weekend you can do it yourself.

The pluses are that Winning 11 has a whole boatload of options. You can spend a few hours just going thru them without even playing a single match! Also, when you get down to really getting a grip of the controls, you'll be able to see just how in depth the play on the pitch can be. Overall "Winning 11 6" is a good football game. I think now though that FIFA has caught up with their release of 2004. Lets hope Konomi ends up on top with their next game.

Best soccer game currently available in the U.S.

Forget FIFA. This is THE soccer game, and most console gamers in Europe and Asia don't bother with anything else. Sure, many of the player names are not authentic (but you can still use the editor to correct them and change their attributes, etc.), the graphics aren't that great in closeups (but they're excellent during gameplay, which is what really counts anyway), the commentary is a bit lame (but who needs them, I switch them off), but such minor flaws are outshined by the absolutely marvelous gameplay and controls. Once I saw this game being broadcast on TV, and for a moment I thought it was a real soccer match -- it's that realistic. And to be a good player, you have to play like you're really playing soccer, and "read" the ball as you do when watching it on TV. The controls are intuitive and masterfully designed. No dribbling past 4 defenders alone and scoring, as you can do in FIFA. Team play is essential, and this game continuously surprises you with stunning moments when you gasp and stare incredulously at the screen for a few seconds, like you do when watching a real adrenaline-pumping match. It's hard to learn at first, and you need to spend some time with it, but the more you play, you'll keep getting astonished at its incredible depth. Replay value is limitless, especially if you get one of those controller hubs and hook up four or more players playing in teams. Even my friends who usually don't play video games were hooked by this, and once at a party everyone got crazy about it and did hardly nothing but play this game. This game alone is reason enough for me to buy a Playstation2, not X-Box or GameCube. Until the U.S. release of Winning Eleven 7, this is currently the best soccer game (and perhaps sports game) you could get in the U.S., unless you go for imports or whatever.
