Not worthy of the "Rush" name. Terrible.

San Fransico Rush, Rush 2 and Rush 2049 rank among my favorite console games of all time. By far the games I replayed most. I have clocked about 5497329867397 hours on Rush 2049 for my N64. So imagine how excited I was when I heard that FINALLY a new Rush title was being released. Then imagine my DISGUST and ANGER when I popped in LA Rush. Obviously this game was made by a completely different crew of people at Midway or headed by some bonehead project manager who thought it would be a good idea to strip the white knuckled fun from the previous games and incorporate a bunch of stupid features. Let's go over the bad things:

1. The "crash cam". Everytime you crash into a wall or another car, the game immediately shows you this crash in excrutiating slow motion for upwards of 5 seconds. Not only does this completely take you out of the excitement of the race and disorient you as to where you are, but THERE IS NO WAY TO TURN THIS OFF. This is by far the biggest dagger in the heart of this game. The other Rush games succeed because it is a relentless RACE, not some stylized garbage concept game.

2. Rush is a RACING game, not an adventure game. Not Grand Theft Auto. Not Driver. Not anything but RACING. So why they added in this stupid storyline and lame cutscenes is beyond me. Not to mention that the entire game is one big, giant commercial for MTV's "Pimp My Ride". You never get a chance to forget that "West Coast Customs is gonna pimp your whip yo! Don't forget to go to West Coast Customs! YO YO! It's tight, that West Coast Customs".

3. Retrying a race takes way too long. If you place badly, you have to go through all these stupid screens, then drive back to where the race begins, then watch the dumb cutscene that starts the race.

Oh well, looks like there is still no reason to get rid of my N64. I'll go back and play Rush 2049 over this waste of time any day.

Please bring back battle mode!!!!!

If any one else has played SF 2049 on the dreamcast, you know battle mode was fun as hell!! This is a let down that they did not add it, LA Rush is a HUGE let down overall...Please someone remake a San Fran Rush game with Battle Mode!!!!

This game is ok.but the crashing slowmo thang gets pretty old.I'd seen a advertisment of this game in issue 97 of playstation offical magzine and thout that by the way it look in the preview it looked like a good game.plus the mag comes with a demo and of this game it is playable on this demo the game on the demo sucks ass,but if you liked need for speed u2 or minight club de3 and burnout then this game is like all of those games togather but it is better than those games this ones city stage is awsome compared to needforspeed u 2 and midnightclub d e 3 i bout this game and if you like muscle cars you'll like this game slightly but overall this game is worth the 50 buck.

don't play this, go out and get SF Rush 2049 for the Dreamcast. It has battle mode instead of pimp my ride mode. Then we can have a tournament becuase I am the best ever at RUSH ONE.

WORST STREET RACING GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you know why this game is the worst? Here are some of the facts:

-You only start out with 1 car only!
-They customize the car for you, and you may not like how the way it turns out!
-You have to pay money to get in a race!
-When you crash into traffic, its takes a while for you to get back on the road!
-It's very tough to win cars, because if your car gets damaged, you lose money!
-This game only has over 35 cars only!
-The opponents you race with are very tough to beat!
-If a cop car stops you, you also lose money!
-There is only 1 boring city!

This is why L.A. Rush is the worst! But another street racing game I would recomend is Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition. That game has over 60 cars, 3 open cities which are San Diego, Atlanta, and Detroit, and you start out with more cars! Also, you don't have to pay money to get in a race, the cities are really huge, and you can customize your car, your way!

L.A. Rush is not the best game out there! There's stuff that's not fun, some stuff is hard, and some stuff is diffricult to use. Here is more reasons why this game isn't nice:

THE CITY OF L.A.:
L.A. is huge! 350 miles of L.A. is too big! The city is divided into 5 sections:

Hollywood- In the center of L.A. You start out your whole career here. Most events here are easy.

Santa Monica-The next section in your career. Some events are kind of hard.

South Bay-Another section in your career. This place is hard to ge around. And most of the events are diffricult to complete.

South Central- Your most diffricult section. All of the events are extreme. It's very tought to get around.

Downtown- This is like your break section. Only half of the events here are tought.

Another thing about L.A. is that some places are tought to get around, or it could be your opponents making it hard getting around! L.A. is just a tough, on the edge city!

RACES AND OPPONENTS:
When you start your career, the races are pretty easy. But when you get deeper into your career, the races get harder and harder and so on! In some races, you have to pay alot of money, to get in! So if you lose or quit out of a race, you just wasted a lot of money! and in n some races, you might wish you got more money than you expected! Sometimes in races like KO, you got to be careful out there! Things start to get rough there! In events like Acquire, if you crash in your new car, you loose money! And if your car is completely damaged, you loose your car! So most events in L.A. Rush are just too rough to complete!

The opponents are rough, they don't care about what you or they do, they just race! Your toughtest opponents might be in the extreme races like KO. And in some cases, your opponents are better and faster than what you have!

CARS:
There's cars in this game that are good, and some that are not! Some cars are too slow to race with like the Chevrolet SSR, and some are pretty fast likethe Saleen S7. And some cars aren't even used in real-life!

CITY ENVIORNMENT:
The game version of L.A. is totally different from the real-life city! Hollywood, Santa Monica, South Bay, South Centeral, and Downtown are all different from the real L.A. And the weather in the game version isn's good! Night Time is the worst time to be racing on the streets because now you can't see as much stuff as in the daytime!

COPS:
They can't stand crazy drivers! There all over L.A.! The only way you can escape them is if you hide or take a tought corner!
If you just don't want them around you, don't drive crazy!

CUSTOMIZATION:
West Coast Customs customizes the car for you! So you might not like how your car turns out! And you'll have to live with it if you race a customized car!

MUSIC:
Some music is good, some is not! Some of the Hip Hop songs aren't understanding, there's not much Rock songs, and Techno songs either! And some of the songs are just, not goo! And, you can't decide how much songs you want to listen to, and there's no place in the game where you can listen to songs anytime when actually in L.A. Rush!

Althought, a game that I recommend is Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition. It has all the features you would like, all the cars, and the nice cities to tour throught! Plus, I think there's a lot more game out there that are better than this one!

L.A. Rush is just not the best game to play. You would be much better off with another street racing game!

Sad, actually

Ok now it is very obvious that "BushSupporters" review is not a damn review, and since Amazon won't remove it, seems I've gotta do this mess again. That would normally mean I'd give LA Rush a 5, but it actually does suck beyond belief, so its getting a 1 anyway. But not because I got pissed off like a little thumb-sucking baby because of something the band "Skinny Puppy" decided to do in their own time, in a free country none-of-the-less, but because everything in the game is directly copied from the better racers out there.

Its an ok rental

The game is fun to rent, but i dont recomend buying it.

They did some cool things with it though...its the first time i got to see a saleen S7, Dodge Magnum, and some other nice cars in a game. (although i have yet to unlock them because the game gets pretty hard at times). But the game lacks some stuff (no real customization is a major issue)... But its a fun rental if you like cars and want to unlock cars.

I enhjoyed renting it (i have the hollywood video MVP game card so i can rent it as long as i want)

i recomend renting before you buy.

oh, and who cares what a great band like skinny puppy did in their free time...they have nothing to do with this game except for lending a good song to it.

Wow!!!

L.A. Rush is really cool for a lot of reasons!

You have 56 of the coolest cars on the road that all work differently like the Hummer H2, Cadillac Esalade, 1967 Chevrolet Camaro, 1969 Chevrolet Corvette, Chevrolet SSR, Dodge Magnum, Dodge Charger, Dodge Neon SRT-4, Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, Nissan 350Z, Nissan Titan, Saleen S7, and much more. And 20 of the 56 cars are concept cars like the 05 Concept 4, 05 Concept 8 and 05 Concept 12!

Let West Coast Customs customize your car for you so you don't have to do all of the work. The way your car will turn out is awsome! Plus the customization price isn't that bad!

You can drive through 350 miles of L.A. You can tour through Hollywood (where you start your story), Santa Monica, South Bay, South Central, and Downtown(where you complete your story)! And you can go almost anywhere in town from underground to the rooftops. Plus you can damage traffic and destroy property on your way!

The races and major events are intresting and cool. You have a variety of opponents to beat! You can beat races like KO and retribution races. Most races have lots of cash but some races have new cars for 1st place!

The music in this game is cool! You have 3 different choices of music- Hip Hop, Techno and Rock! You have music from a lot of artists like Twista, APM!

Games like Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix and Burnout Revenge aren't as good as L.A. Rush!

I highly recommend L.A. Rush!
