This is an awsome game. The graphics are almost the same as Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for PS2 (they look nothing like on the cover). This is a little bit challenging for the first game released, but with a little bit of strategy and logic...all the tasks come together. I loved how well it followed the movie. I gave this game 5 stars because it is VERY addictive and EXTREMELY fun. Hope this review helped.
for harry potter fans ONLY!

this game is good, but only if u like harry potter like i do.
graphics: 7/10
not really that great but u can tell the characters apart so its not that bad.
gameplay: 6/10
followed the book pretty good. controls are easy. the game is overall easy. takes a while to load sometimes.
sound: 5/10
the sound was ok at times and bad at times. the characters voices arent that good though. harry sounds like a whimp whenever he casts a spell.
the castle is really bad in this game. it has too many rooms and is confusing to find out where you need to go.
someone please tell me if this game is better on PS2, because i bought this game for PS1 before they came out with it on PS2, and i want to know if its the same or better and i dont want to rent it or buy it on PS2 if its the same. thanks ^_^
by the way: someone wrote a report saying they hate harry potter and they said "i hate harry potter sooooooooooooooooo much da look at me im harry potter dont let vole-de-mort kill me i have a scar i am special look at my scar". if u hate it sooooo much, then why are you wasting your time complaining about it when you could be looking at and reviewing stuff you actually like? you must have no life if you do that. dont you agree?
Please be good...

I am a big fan of just about everything Harry Potter, the books, the movies, everything! But the Harry Potter games that have been released have been very much middle of the road in graphics, sound, and gameplay. But now, EA is remaking Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for the PS2, X-Box, and Gamecube. After its dispointing run on the PC and Playstation, this new Harry Potter game looks promising with good graphics, good sound, and good gameplay. Potter fans, let's hope that it is a great game!

This game overall was pretty bad. I didn't like many things. Few things I liked were overpowered by the bad.
Graphics: 8/10
The characters look real, but cheesy all the same. The castle looks like cardboard and I don't see much depth in it. The graphics are sometimes choppy, but generally pretty smooth.
Sound: 5/10
Where's the good music? I'm wondering. Hermione sounds like a 3-year-old and so does Ron. They start repeating themselves and then it get's annoying. Harry sounds like a real wuss when he cast spells. I think the sound sucks. The footsteps- you can hear them, which I like. The birds give it a real feel but I still think the sound sucks.
Gameplay: 9/10
Just not perfect. The quidditch in this game is better than the quidditch in The Quidditch World Cup game. The spells are easy to cast- I like the set up. You format the spells to either the SQUARE, TRIANGLE or CIRCLE buttons. Hold down the button and release to cast. Simple- ahhh yes the aiming is simnple too (hold R1). Easy huh? The gameplay otherwise is also smooth.
Difficulty: 5/10
Not hard at all. Easy to beat. It wasn't a complete joke though.
Storyline: 6/10
It follows the big events but leaves out the small ones. It also changes things around.
Replayable? Nah... I barely lasted through.
A comment or two: This game was ok. Fun i guess. Rent it first and buy it used. I hate the fact that you have to go on adventures to find spell books. I wish I could take classes and learn spells in there. This game could be so much better.
A flaw I noticed: When they fight the troll's, Professer McGonagall says that I was lucky to be alive. Soon, later on, I fight a troll in Herbology. That upset me.
Overall: Try it and if you love Harry Potter, you might like it. RENT THIS GAME FIRST!
Great for Potter fans, but game has lots of bugs :-(

If you are a true Harry Potter fan, then i would not hesitate to buy this...however...the game has lots of bugs and problems. I am always restarting the game...For example, you can not control Harry's view very well. A lot of times, I have had to re start the game because Harry got "stuck" in between things in the game and you couldn't move him or the camera. Also, I have had to restart the game many times because the voice overs sometimes just repeat the same word, over and over again and don't stop....The music is usually off somewhere and the words don't go along with the character's mouths.
But, the game's graphics are good, the game play is just like the previous HP game. In a nutshell, this game is nowhere as good as Chamber of Secerets , but is still a good additive to your PS2 collection. I can't wait till November when Prisoner of Azkaban comes out on ps2!

When I first heard about this game, I was so excited. I got it for Christmas and played it. Here's what I have to say about this game: HP fans definetly want to check this game out because it's a good game. Its graphics are still amazing and are the same as last year's Chamber of Secrets. The storyline is good, taking the plot of the book and movie into the game. Although, certain scenes don't go along like the movie did, but that's not the flaw of the game. The flaw is that not much has changed from last year's game, only the storyline, of course is different. You still get to fly your broomstick around Hogwarts grounds and you still receive your spells from quests that you are told to do in class. Also, one thing I was disappointed about was that there is only one quidditch match in the entire game and that the game is kind of short. There are still a lot of very fun moments in the game and fans of the movie and books are sure to like this game.
Good game - a few issues

I am a big fan of Harry Potter, so I couldn't wait for this game to come out. I was pleased with the story line for the most part, and found the game play much the same as the Chamber of Secrets game. However, the game itself was fairly short - I completed it in just a few days time, so this might be a game that someone would rather rent and complete as opposed to purchasing. Also, I did notice a few problems with the game design itself. For example, it was difficult to keep Harry pointed in the right direction when engaged in a battle. Even when using the right trigger button to target the enemy, Harry would often be just a centimeter or two off of his mark, making some of the more difficult battles extremely frustrating. However, the story line was very good (pretty similar to the movie) and the graphics were great. I look forward to future releases.

Although this game might not be for everyone, if you enjoy Harry Potter movies, there is a good chance that you'll like the games as well. The Sorcerer's Stone game objective follows the story but has a few twists along the way. Mainly I would describe the game as a "puzzle" solving game that is not so hard that a player looses interest and doesn't finish. Harry's main mission is to earn spells by passing a challenge assigned by his teachers. Besides earning spells, there are side tasks like collecting wizard cards, finding bernie botts every flavor beans, and earning house points. The game does load for every scene which can get annoying and the grafics aren't as great as most games released today, but the game is fun for those who like less violence in their game play.
It's Brilliant!

It is one of the best PS2 games I've ever played (maybe evan the best!), I liked the Chamber of secrets and Quidditch World cup, but this is the best Harry Potter game because this time there are not as many loading screens as there were in the Chamber of Secrets, but the only downside to it is that some of the story from the 2nd Game is the same as this game (ex. Fred and Georges shop), you still can fly around on the Nimbus 2000 which is still very good. I am up to Quirrels gytrashes near the end, and I don't know how to complete it, but I'll try!
This Harry Potter fan hates the flying.

I bought all four games and while I'm not a big gamer I do enjoy it. However, any one have any tips for the flying??? I could do everything else fine except the freaking flying?! I was stuck on the quidditch match for months because I just could not do it. I finally get past it only to get stuck at getting the key! Can any 8-yr-old help me out?!
