Amplitude - Attitude - Addicting

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 1

If you haven't picked up this Game and played yet, what are you waiting for?

This Game is the most addicting, fun Game I've played in a while. Better than the original "Frequency" Title, including better choice of Music, and no more dizzying Rotations when jumping from Track to Track. The Graphics are sharper and the Video Clips playing in the Background are a nice Addition.

Once again, the Game that has Attitude and is Addicting is "Amplitude". Go play it now!

If you liked Frequency, you'll love Amplitude...maybe.

Amplitude is a blast, and has many improvements visually over Frequency. I highly recommend it, but I wanted to say a couple things that maybe the other reviews don't have.

First of all, though it is an improvement over Frequency, it's not THAT huge an improvement. I'm happy just to get new songs, but there's only one new power-up (slow-mo), and it's pretty much the same kind of gameplay.

Also, if you don't have Frequency OR Amplitude and were trying to decide which to get, I'd ask which kind of music you like better, Electronic or Rock/Pop. If you like Electronic better (which I do), then I'd say you should get Frequency. Amplitude has a lot of rock/hard rock/pop tunes that I'm not too crazy about, which can get annoying if you're trying again and again to beat a song that's from a genre you're not too keen on.

Super addictive

I rented this game with a coupon, thinking it would be just some race game with cool music. I ended up beating it and playing most levels over and over! The songs are all addictive and will repeat in your head until you play another. The freestyle mode is cool, especially when you get the hang of it. And it's great to hear "King of Rock" again!

One Of My Favorites

Amplitude is the sequel to Frequency for Playstation 2, and is a RHYTHM ACTION GAME - in other words, from the genre that is based on music and the beat, where you listen and see commands such as "up! Up! Left, down!" and then have to repeat the pattern on your controller, in time to the music. Only in this game, you have to see the pattern lying ahead of you in the form of spaced out dots, and then hit the correct buttons on your handcontroller for each dot ("space pod").

Your space ship advances forward, while the space pods pass under your shooting mark. Once they are in your range of fire, you hit the appropriate button to blast the pod. Each blast will be a note in the song, so everything depends on your ability to keep the beat. If you miss one beat in a series of pods, the entire sentence or song part cancels out and you have to move to another part on the screen with a series of notes.

Difficulty level selections allow you to play with people who either need less of a challenge, or more. It has multi-player options, so you can both play at the same time. Additionally, the songs you play through and master are popular radio tunes from the later 90's and beyond, and there is an enjoyable selection of pop and rock to keep you interested.

I own many games of this kind and Amplitude is a favorite of mine.

SO COOL!

Whoa! My son is blowing my mind with this game! He is only 5, yet, he is playing the "easy" mode with me, and not missing any beats! And he taught me how to use the special energy boosts. Talk about a trip! He even made it past several stages and we unlocked the David Bowie song! That song is one of the best David Bowie songs I've heard in a long time!

I highly recommend this game. Some folks have compared this to the first installment of this series, Frequency, but it is heads and shoulders above any thing before it! Very innovative and very fun!

Frequency was a wonderful game that had me hooked from the first time I played it. Amplitude, however, had a few weak points.

The first weak point is the music. I don't understand what songs like Blink 182's "Rock Show" and Slipknot's "I Am Hated" are doing in this game. These songs really don't have a discernable beat like other, more dance-y songs, like Mekon's "What's Going On, Mekon?"

The second point is that the game is fairly easy if you've already played Frequency to death. I've only had the game a few weeks, and I've already beaten all the songs on Insane (with the exception of the last bonus song). It literally took me months to beat Frequency, so that was a little dissapointed (though expected). As a side note, I can also see how the backgrounds might be a little distracting, although they don't bother me too much.

I believe they improved on a great many things for Amplitude, though. For one, Remix mode is a lot more user-friendly. The second thing they did a great job improving was the Multiplayer mode. My friend Brian and I stayed up into the wee hours playing against each other, both in game mode and duel mode. Good fun!

If you like music, I would definitely reccomend this game.

Looks Good.

I enjoyed Frequency, and this game looks even better, whether it's a full sequel I'm not sure, but playing online should be fun.
