Total Air War manages to combine lots of action and spectacular special effects with just enough realistic detail to make it an outstanding flight simulator compared to other F-22 games on the market.Created to add some much needed features to the original F-22 ADF, Total Air War really delivers. The best addition is a dynamic campaign, which rages on whether you are flying or not. The progression of the campaign depends entirely on the performance of you and your computer-controlled allies. Take out those SAMs on the ground, and you'll make the next flight's mission that much easier. Of course, it works both ways, and if you fail to do something really important like protect your airfields or your radar planes, things can go south in a hurry.
We were impressed by the game's 3-D accelerated graphics. Many times we loaded up a campaign just to watch dogfights and see the fate of ground units slated for destruction in full 3-D glory. The important elements of gameplay should be easy for novices to grasp, and the game's challenge ramps up nicely as your skills improve and you gain more experience. If you want the best overall F-22 simulator on the market, then you want Total Air War. --T. Byrl Baker
Pros:
- Sharp graphics
- Exciting gameplay and a dynamic campaign
Cons: - Not entirely realistic, and therefore won't appeal to the most hard core flight sim fans
