Sniper Elite not backwards compatible

I bought sniper elite off amazon and the games looks like it could be a blast, but not on xbox 360. The game is 100% NOT backwards compatible and will not play on the xbox 360.

This is a superb game, I have played the PC version through once and I really enjoyed the game. I am currently playing through the game again just because it is that enjoyable. It is not a true first person shooter, while moving you are in third person view, which is really a good thing because it gives you the ability to peak around corners without revealing yourself. This however isn't a big advantage because the enemy snipers will use a mirror to look around the corner to find you. This is the most incredible game dynamic I have ever run across and was shocked when I saw a guy do it. This game is as near perfect, for a sniper based game as I have ever seen. This puts other sniper games to shame, with ease.

I played (completed) this on my PC, and am seriously thinking about buying an Xbox version. Read the other reviews, as they are pretty accurate. I love realistic sniping and this game offers it and more. I did the first levels on easy mode then progressively ramped it up and did `Elite' mode the last ¾ of the game for challenge. This game spoils you on what others don't offer--mainly choices on how to play (run-n-gun, snipe, silent, grenades & explosives). For stealth, set trip mines, then toss rocks to get guards to investigate and trip the mines (heh, heh). If a tank is giving you trouble, shoot it in the gas tank for an explosion, or toss a stick of dynamite, then snipe the dynamite for an explosion. Rifle every fallen enemy's clothes for extra `goodies'. The slo-mo bullet to the skull gimmick makes me laugh out loud every time, and is especially rewarding when it's a difficult shot to the head of a sniper on a roof that's been slowing `pecking' your health away. GREAT GAME!

Although the concept is great, the game play isn't as fun as I thought it would be. The graphics aren't too great and the movement isn't very good either. The camera bucked too much a couple times while I was trying to center in on my target. It's alright though. I wish they'd improve more on the game. Like I said great concept. Could have been better.

I think a review is subjective so, if you don't like shooters or war themed games then don't bother to read further.

I purchased Sniper Elite because a game junky who understands my penchant for shooters said it was easily worth the money. He was dead on.

The premise is that it is the end of WWII. The Russians are taking their first steps toward the atomic age and as a member of the OSS it is your job to infiltrate, whack the baddies or destroy equipment and exfiltrate.

I played this game all the way through alone and in two-player mode with my son, who at 11 is a better shot than me darn it. I actually liked two-player better because you really get a team feel. Multiple shooting points can really help in some missions.

The last thing to mention is the shooting itself. Through the game you progress through three rifles, each better than the last. You have to account for gravity, wind, rain and AI. It can take more than 1 shot if placement isn't good, but there is a great feature we refer to as "bullet cam". Spectacular shots change the point of view to that of the bullet. You follow trajectory all the way to the target and watch the bone smashing damage, followed by a heads-up message indicating the type of shot and the distance. It really makes you competitive and awards "Points of Fame".

In short:
AI - decent to spectacular depending on the difficulty level
Graphics - pretty good (remember this is xbox/PS2)
Storyline - Fair enough to support the missions.
Controls - Easy and make pretty good sense
"The Shot" - Most fun shooter I've played.

Only negative I found was that on XBox there are verbal communiques that come across as high pitched static screeches. I'm not sure what the dialogue is supposed to be, but I learned pretty quickly to drop and break out the binoculars :)

If you like shooters and/or war games you've paid for worse. I can only say this is the only game I ever played start to finish and re-played immediately at the next level.

I've played this game several times now and each time I love it. I have yet to beat the game at the "Sniper Elite", level though. This game has awesome replay value as well. If you start to feel cocky, like you could smoke any level, then up your difficulty level to "Marksman" or "Sniper Elite", and you'll have a whole new challenge.
The A.I. is really good in this game, especially at the harder difficulty settings. The graphics are great and the over all sound and music is top notch. This is a real sniper game to, so your not stuck with a bunch of other buffoons, you have to worry about like in so many other military based games. I love the total rogue element of the game.
You against everyone. Plus, when you pop off a nice, long range shot. The game goes into a bullet-cam sort of view, followed by a nice exploding head shot. lol That is if you hit'em in the head. There's a tone of levels to, I'm not sure how many exactly but there are plenty to keep you entertained for a long time.
Now if only they would come out with Sniper Elite 2. :-)
