I was let down by the movie, but the game makes up for it. You can play as either a "Dragon Slayer" or the actual Dragon itself.
As a human, you take the role of a resistance fighter, controlling a variety of well-equipped vehicles. Your purpose is to defend the last remaining humans from attack and eventually to make your way to the site of the sole male dragon.
As a dragon, the player will take the role of an infant led by instinct to attack its foe at any opportunity and attempt to eradicate the human race. The plot follows the maturing of the dragon, gradually getting more powerful, as the game progresses.
The sound and graphics are amazing. I really enjoyed playing this game.
What an experience!

Reign of Fire is a fantastic game! It has great graphics and intense gameplay. The developers have created a fantastic sense of battlefield carnage and chaos against marauding dragons. In latter levels, YOU get to be a marauding dragon!
There are some things you need to know about the controls, which has gotten some bad press. The default is "simple" control configuration. Change this before you even start playing! In this configuration, you aim AND steer with the left thumbstick, and accelerate and decelerate with A and B. The right thumbstick does nothing. We will get nowhere with this set-up.
On the other hand, the "advanced" set-up steers with the left thumbstick, and aims with the right. This makes the controls very intuitive. Another thing you might want to do is turn down the auto-aim to zero. Otherwise, the aiming cursor does a lot of drifting, which can be very annoying and make it more difficult.
I have very few complaints about the game. The dialogue can get quite repetitive at time, such as when you are not in the spot you need to be. You hear the same sentence repeated multiple times.
Rocks! Awesome!

This is a great game! When I first rented this game from the video store, I thought it was gonna suck, but boy was I wrong. It ruled over a bunch of games (It flat out rocked). The game has good graphics, it has a good storyline, good controls except for the fact that when you move the left thumbstick down it moves the crosshair up and when you move it up the crosshair goes down. My favorite vehicle is the tank. Oh yeah, if you're planning to start playing as the dragon, you are out of luck because you have to beat a certain amount of levels before you can play as the dragon. I haven't got that far. If you don't believe me just read the instruction manual. I don't like the fact that if you go up ahead too far you lose the misson. But don't worry you will know when you go too far. Denton Van Zan will say: "Kid you're leaving the mission area. Get back here." Here is how I rate each feature of this game-
Graphics-5
Gameplay-4.5
Storyline-5
Controls-4.5
Overall-5

Edit: I meant to put 3 stars
I saw the movie and it was good but like the game, not well thought out. Jugdging by the preview the game looked really good and I have to give them credit for that. Otherwise this game was horrible. The graphics were ok for xbox but the controls were just horrible. I really thought it was going to come close to halo but I was sadly dissapointed.
Good game for an OK console.

I really like Reign of Fire, the dragon missions are really fun!
The graphics for the dragons are really well done! when you shoot down a dragon and it falls behind a hill you'll see dust fly up in the air, or when they fly towards you the clouds part slightly, they could have done better on the water that's for sure, it looks like jello, and when you hit the water it doesn't really splash. But when fire hits the water the steam flies.
It could really do with a multiplayer mode, and more levels.
The flames look nicely done. But what I don't like is most of the levels are timed, it's always "Hurry and stop the train before it reaches the base!" or "Get the egg and rush back before the dragons come!"
But really fun....
hey its pretty good!

I haven't seen the movie but after playing this, it could be awesome. 20 bucks for this. It is well worth your money. In the level I played, you were driving a car while at the same time manning a gun that had rockets as well as bullets. You had to protect people and shoot dragons in the sky and carnivores on the ground. Brilliant.
Ah...It's kinda Okay, sort of...

It ain't the worst game ever, but don't expect a lot from it. It could've been a better game, but maybe they didn't put in enough time when designing it.
