For starters, this is my brother's game, but I tried it out for like, fifteen minutes, before I got so bored I turned it off. This game is a pointless shoot 'em up where all you do is run around shooting this or sawing that. It's entertaining for a little bit watching the zombies fall apart at the hands(or blades) of Ash's chainsaw. But it's only a matter of time before the gameplay becomes so redundant you have no will to continue playing because all you do is chop stuff up(and what's with the strip clubs everywhere?!).There ARE spells that attempt to add some depth to the game, but when the day is over, you're left with the same shoot and slash garbage you started with when you turned the game on. Anyone into these kind of games should check out the Hunter games instead. They have better variation in weapons, and you can play with a friend. I would not recommend this game to ANYONE unless they're a die hard fan of the Evil Dead series.
This game stinks!

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!
Graphics-2/10. look like a PSX game with its choppy, blurry graphics. The charatcer blends in with the background so hes VERY hard to see.
Sound-3/10. Ever hear Atari? Souns WORSE.
Control-6/10. The controls are decent, X to do the attacks, and the D button to walk.
Gameplay-1/10. Very repetative. Same thing over and over.
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!
Not that fun

If you are a fan of the Evil Dead series you will probably get this game. But don't think that it will be awsome. The storyline of the game is pretty cool but the gameplay is very bad. The controling to the game can sometimes be difficult. This game seems like it was rushed. When you have killed a zombie and keep on moving then comes the same zombie you just killed. It is non stop action. But it starts to get quite boring after a half an hour of playing. Most of the missions in the game are quite tedious. The graphics aren't that good either. The only cool thing about it is that Bruce Cambell provides his voice for the game. He gives a couple of his cheesy one liners from the three movies. Overall i would not recomend this game to you because it ain't fun.
Boring and repetitive

Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick is nice looking game, with some great lighting effects and extra touches like leaves blowing in the wind. Downside.. it's really, really dark.
Bruce Campbell voices Ash's dialog, which should please fans of the Evil Dead movies.
This game is boring, so boring that it's hard to play long enough to get to some of the game's more interesting elements like the selection of different weapons or the ability to cast a few spells.
If you want to play this game, I suggest renting it first. Shooting and slashing zombies can be fun, but after a while it gets really boring.
Bloody good

The Evil Dead films have--with good reason--a dedicated fan following, and a video game tie-in seemed like a logical choice. If you like the films, then you will probably like this game. Bruce Campbell returns as Ash, the Boomstick-slinging, chainsaw-wielding hero of the films with an axe to grind (literally) and Deadites to kill. The premise is very simple: Armed with his trusty chainsaw, Boomstick, spells, and a quip-spouting mouth, Ash must must travel through time to various points in Dearborn, Michigan's past and accomplish certain goals that will stop the Deadites from overrunning the Earth.
The Good: Action, action, action. Deadites are everywhere, constantly on the attack. Bruce Campbell has a number of great one-liners, and his vocal work and self-deprecating humor makes the more tedious parts of the game pass more easily. The game has an Mature rating, and with good reason: Ash hacks Deadites apart with his chainsaw, sending limbs and heads flying everywhere and blood spurting ten feet into the air. He blasts them into a fine red mist with his shotgun, and cooks them with his flamethrower. Definitely not a game for the kiddies. Controls are decent, though Ash seems to have trouble outrunning Deadites, who shamble and shuffle along. I especially like the two-handed attacks Ash can execute, such as using the chainsaw and shotgun simultaneously. You can also cast spells, such as "Possess Deadite" and a great lightning spell that add to your arsenal and allow you to work through some areas more easily.
The Bad: Constant Deadite regeneration. Just when you think you've cleared an area of Deadites, they respawn. This makes backtracking very, very difficult, as enemies keep respawning every time you pass through an area. This makes game progression difficult at times. Also, there never seems to enough health. I've killed literally dozens of Deadites and only been rewarded with one or two bits of health.
There are also too many cutscenes, and most of them cannot be skipped. it's annoying to face a boss character, get killed, and have to sit through the introductory clip again and again without being able to skip it. There are also too few save points. Constantly replaying the same areas again and again gets old after a while.
Graphics are subpar, but Ash at least LOOKS like Bruce Campbell, and the blood and atmospheric effects are adequate. The camera angle can be a real aggravation at times. I had to rotate it way too often to get my bearings, a problem commonly found in third-person games.
The Ugly: The Deadites. Nuff said.
A tip or two: Save devastating weapons, such as explosive shells, armor-piercing bullets, or the flamethrower for crowds of Deadites. When faced with that many enemies, your trusty chainsaw won't be able to mow them down fast enough to keep you from being surrounded. Single Deadites are usually best dispatched with your chainsaw. Also, when the music begins to quicken, that's a hint that Deadites are approaching. The game also has some good unlockable arcade levels, usually accessed by killing X number of Deadites in X amount of time.
Not a perfect game by any means, but for twenty bucks or so, a pretty worthy purchase.

Lots of people said Evil Dead: Hail To The King sucked. As a hardcore Evil Dead fan, I love it. As a gamer, I think it's average. Yes, it was a little below our expectations. But now it's Evil Dead: A Fistful Of Boomstick, boys and girls, the Xbox version.
Let's start this review with a single question... Is the Xbox version better than the PS2 version? Yes, it is. Believe me, I completed the game in both consoles. Graphically, you can see a significant difference in some places. Obviously, this isn't any Panzer Dragoon Orta, graphically... But it does it job well, with nice scenaries and characters. There are some slowdowns here and there, but nothing big. Sound is better on Xbox too, it's clearer. The soundtrack in this game is simple, but also does its job to tell you when trouble (like... a deadite) is close and this kind of thing. The voice acting for the main character, Ash, was made by Bruce Campbell (for those who don't know him, he played the character in the movie trilogy, he's also the best actor in the world and wrote a wonderful book called "If Chins Could Kill", a book I highly recommend, but that's another story). Ash has lots of awesome quotes, hilarious ones, you'll see, I won't spoil your surprise. Playing the game feels great, no problem with the controls.
Well, the main game is great. Great levels at different centuries in the town of Dearborn, Michigan... But when you beat the game, is that it? Nope! There are some extras too, pal. For each level you beat, you unlock some Arcade Levels (you get scores from A to C for doing a certain task like "kill all the deadites" in a limited time... believe me, it's highly entertaining) and a Photo Gallery, plus there is a Bonus Video featuring Bruce Campbell and the crew who made this game. And, obviously, you can play the game again if, just like me, you enjoyed it. And, as you can see, the game is totally cheap.
Overall, if you like this kind of game (horror games with lots of blood, gore and violence), it's alteast worth a rent (c'mon, buy it now, it's cheap!), and if you're an Evil Dead fan, just grab your copy right now. If you can choose between the two versions (Xbox and PS2), choose the Xbox one. Being said all that, I hope you enjoy this game, just as I did. If you aren't convinced yet to buy this title for your Xbox (or PS2), there's nothing I can do, except pity you. Just another note: I highly recommend that you watch the whole movie trilogy, and, if possible, beat Hail To The King before playing this title... If you do it, you'll enjoy this game a thousand times more.

This was the 3rd game I purchased for XBox, I got an XBox on the 4th of July, wanted to wait until some fun games came out.
Anyway, the main problem I have with this game is the ... cutscenes. Some you can skip, and some you can't. BIG turnoff. I don't want to sit through a 2 minute cutscene again after a boss kills me.
Second of all, no cheats. Don't get me wrong. This game wasn't extremly difficult. It would just be fun if you could go back and have infinite ammo or something. Not to mention picking certain levels. I loved the Civil War level, I'd love to go back with infinite gatling gun ammo. But sadly, no level select either.
The arcade mode is probably the most difficult part of the game, too many damn deadites!
All in all, it's a fun game. Not much replay value (unless you wait and forget how to solve some puzzles) but it's incredibly fun, ...! Stop being so stingy!
Why isn't there negative stars?

Alright, so my friend and I love renting horrific video games. We absolutly enjoyed Contra Shattered Soldier, because the entire game was borrowed from the SNES... but this... noooo. Never before has a game been so grotesque, and unenjoyable, we literally lost IQ points for watching the screen.
If you have ever seen any of the movies, you will quickly realize upon playing this game that not only is not nearly as witty, satisfying, or downright even boredom solving, it will quickly make you want to eviscerate yourself and plummet into inferal damnation and/or a pit of despair. If you do not get these inclinations while playing the game, please have the closest competent human being commit you as soon as possible.
In conclusion, this is the game of the year, please go out and buy 4 copies immediately...your enemies will never know what hit em.

While this game does have a few flaws, it is overall a good hack and slash game. Bruce Campbell lends his voice in a time-traveling, puzzle solving, zombie hacking good time. The graphics for the backgrounds is quite good although, the characters and monsters are a bit blocky. The mechanics of the game are simple to learn and it won't be long until you are slashing and hacking your way through the city streets slaughtering any evil dead that crosses your path. You don't have to be a fan of the Evil Dead movies to enjoy the game. The story, while simple is engrossing enough to keep your interest. The game is relatively short but for the price, this one can't be beat.
