Quake II is a great game for multiplayer deathmatches. A fast frame rate combined with cool weapons and a variety of levels makes for a very entertaining multiplayer experience.

A nice touch to the Quake series

Quake2 is the coolest game I have ever played! Sure the single player mode is a little short, but I dont care! That just gives me a reason to play it again on a harder difficuty level. It is gory, you have to admit, but it is a nice game. The multiplayer mode is awesome! I love it!

Better than PC version

I played this game originally on a friend's PC, and it was okay, played this version on my N64 and had to have it... Its much better graphics wise and blood and guts wise than the original Quake. Also, beats the crap out of DOOM64 by a long margin. You have to have it to believe it. I am hooked, now Im getting off my computer and playing some quake with my buds. Did I mention you can play more than one player? and you can play against each other too? YOU CAN

Quake 2, the sequal to the popular pc game "quake" is finally available on the nintendo 64. The graphics are fantastic and with the expansion pack are even better. The single player game is challenging and has a learning curve to ease you in as to the tactics and skills of the game. The real fun is apparent in multi player mode where up to 4 players can fight it out in a varity of levels and game types. Nothing is more satisfying than seeing your best friends face after you kill him from round a corner with a grenade. This game will give you hours of fun. A must if you are a fan of the first person perspective genre.

Quake 2 for the N64 largely reflects the average first person-shooter. Some cool enemies and weapons. Nothing generally monumental aside from the detination center and stroggos lab levels, which churn your gut and offer a deep, lost feeling of despair. It had a hint of goldeneye, as well as the original quake control style. I wish that the music and enviorments had a higher creepout factor, as seen and heard in QUAKE 64. Could have used a few more levels. Also, the expansion pak usage for this game is hardly noticible. All in all, it is mpressive as a game, not to much as a sequal though. I don't even think of it as Quake

This game is great! Even though there are barely any levels to beat in one player mode, but multiplayer is just fun! It's a great game! The only bad thing about multiplayer is that you can't have computers to play with you.

Superb first person blaster with excellent multiplay

The N64's rapidly becoming king of this genre with games like Turok 2, Goldeneye and now Quake 2. This is an amazing PC conversion with the added advantage ( for those of us in the UK anyway ) that you don't have to run up a huge phone bill whenever you want to kill some friends. Everything that made the PC version great is here. Its fun, challenging, atmospheric and, like every great game, it has a rocket launcher. And thats just the single player game. Multiplayer is fantastic and shames the PC versions internet play. It's one of only a few games that even comes close to Goldeneye. The only flaws are the graphics aren't too impressive, even with an expansion pak and like I said, it still can't touch 007 but then again, there's no shame in being beaten by the best.

Same Quake, different experience

Surprisingly I never got a chance to play the original on the computer, but the N64 version seems to portray the insanity well. As I understand it the weapons, enemies and level textures are the same, but the actual level designs are N64-exclusive, which is a neat touch. Much like the first Quake it's not a thinking man's shooter like Perfect Dark or GoldenEye, but there are some surprising elements such as the enemies that take potshots at you in their death throes. And while there's no online component, it offers a commendable split-screen experience.

The N64 did well with shooters, and Quake II is a solid addition to the library. My only real gripe is with the series itself; from this point on we lost the moody Gothic feel of the original for something much more sci-fi. Still, that may not matter when the enemies come tearing into you.
