Duke Nukem 64 hails from the PC hit DN 3D. Same levels same storyline, except, more levels, and new weapons. Cool huh? It's not done yet, there's even a co-op mode and vicious deathmatches. I own it, and it kicks major butt! A good buy and bargin.

A Perfect Port of "Duke Nukem 3D"...Sort of

"Duke Nukem 64" is the Nintendo 64 port of the hit PC game, "Duke Nukem 3D". While I enjoyed the original "Duke 3D", the N64 port didn't seem quite as good. It's been slightly toned-down from the PC version (Nintendo wouldn't allow Duke to say certain things, or the girls in the game to show certain parts of their bodies), but nothing too major. It's quite gory, and Duke himself has some hilarious and sometimes off-color comments. The assortment of weapons is fantastic, from Laser Tripbombs, to the Shrinker/Expander gun, which can shrink your enemy so you can squash him like a bug, or make him expand until he explodes. A few of the enemies are a bit unimpressive, but, some are rather unique. While there's alot of action in "Duke 64", there's alot of puzzles, as well, which can really stump you. Sometimes, you might spend more time looking for the exit than blasting nasty aliens. The graphics look pretty good, if not a little bland at times. Having some better lighting at points wouldn't have hurt, either. "Duke 64" also runs very nicely, usually only slowing down during those BIG explosions. My biggest gripe, though, is the sound. The quality of the sound effects is good, with weird alien growls and other neat ambient sounds, but the music is...nonexistent. There is none, aside from the title screen (which sounds great). This can be a bit annoying to have complete and utter silence while solving some complex puzzles. There's nothing in the background to keep you going. Although alot better on the PC, "Duke Nukem 64" is still not bad. If you have a decent computer, get "Duke Nukem 3D" instead. But, if you've got nothing but an N64, and are craving some nice, DOOM-like action with a bit of humor thrown in...maybe you should consider getting a nice computer or "Duke Nukem: Zero Hour". That's my two cents.

This game is the best! 4 people OR 4 DukeBots (computer controlled multiplayer opponents, hella cool) to challenge in multiplayer, each higher difficulty meaning more bodies flying in the air(you can have ppl and dukebots play at the same time), 2 player co-op, and one heck of a single player experiance. Who wouldn't want to save babes while bustin in a movie theater shooting alien scum all over the place? Pig cop with a shotgun? Introduce him, to your grenade launcher, BattleLord giving you a hard time??? throw him a pipe bomb party! Your options of fighting opponents are endless with dukes arsenal of guns ranging from shotguns, sub machine guns, grenade launchers, missle launchers all the way to trip mines(great in multiplayer), and shrink guns which allows you to shrink your opponents and crush like a bug with your 15 size boot. The guns are the best yet in an fps. The gameplay is hot as well, your environment is your playground, use toilets, blow up toilets, bust open a movie screen in the theatres, discover cool secrets by blowing open walls, PLAY POOL, the list goes on. Bust open aliens as you make your way saving babes, searching for key cards, finding hot new weapons, and having one helluva time. Do you have what it takes to save earth from aliens, can duke save his babes before aliens use them for mass production (weird, I know), always bet on Duke. Are you bored of my review and eager to get this game??? STOP READING THE THING AND GET DUKE NUKEM 64!!

This is one of the best shoot 'em ups on the 64. This game is pretty much the same as the PC version, but with more levels, extended levels / or added bits and peices, and a few new toys.

It pretty much feels just like the PC version but it's a little darker on the graphics. You will have to run trough the game control settings to find the right feel for you if you're like me and where used to using the keyboard.

Most of the cool stuff is still there from the PC game. There is the same sayings, some new ones, same levels etc.. whats missing is the adult content the PC had packed into it. So some things are different like, there is no strippers dancing around, and you can't go up and press OPEN to throw them money, and the posters are different etc... infact the second levels strip club has been completly re decorated into an out-door loading dock with trucks. Thats a bit of a disapointment that that stuff was replaced to tone it down.

There is some new toys to play with, but overall, there isnt enough weaopens. There is a hand gun, shot gun, machine gun, plasma shooter, grenade thrower, shrinkin ray, enlarging ray (new weopen! enlrage youre enemy till the explode!) and a few other ones. But compared to something like Goldeneye, there feels like harldy any guns to choose from.

I used to love to use cheats on the PC version, and with this 64 version, there are a couple of cheats, but there's none to walk through walls which I do miss.

(...)it's pretty hard to stay alive, so turn the god mode on and enjoy it.

If you desire easy control for your game, this is Not it.

Graphics are okay. This is a pretty clean version from the computer version. However, getting around the game is not easy. This is not for beginners or people who like to be precise. The aim will move around everywhere and it feels like you can't get the screen to sit still for a second so you can blast an alien.

2-1/2 stars actually...

Duke Nukem is 1 of my favorite games. Just the FPS series I mean. I played this, and single player was ok, but not too good. It was hard to control for me and to go thru a lot of complicated structures. I mean, u could beat the levels, but it's hard for me to move around.

What's really good about this game is the 4 player deathmatch mode. All in 1 N64. It's fun to kill my friends, and the Dukebot too at the same time. Only some levels like Stadium and LA Rumble (highly recommend) are good for multiplayer, since the rest r too large and more for single play.

If ur a hardcore Duke fan, get this. But if not, and u like action and FPS games, rent it first. Be sure to try the multiplayer mode! it's fun.

OK, Not Great.

My advice on this game is to rent it. It's not worth buying. The animation is junky, plus the areas are so limited. If you are going to buy a game like this, get Doom 64.

It rocked and kick ass back in the day .........

I won't lie this game was really cool back in the day and i play it with utter pleasure,(at that time) it was only my second 64 game i ever borrowed, sure the graphics was stink and at times the game play frustrating the heck out of me, however this isn't one i'll call a classic it's no Zelda, Perfect Dark , Donkey Kong 64 and i can go on and on, if you don't believe me try to play this game now!!!! you will find yourself saying yuk! yuk! yuk! "n" i am being nice, it's worth a try but most likely true gamers will find it bogus, it has not true replay value and all in all it had it's time and that's all it will ever have, in my opinion, for those who loved it i am no psychologist so i can't say whats your problem is but!!! maybe you need to play real good game laterzzzzz folks / gamers.

This will always be one of my favorite games. So what if the graphics lag 15 years behind the system! The space station levels in particular are really creepy. It has elements which make it feel a bit like Doom 64 in that some areas are very dark and have horrifyingly ugly monsters, yet in DN64 there are some monsters that also move incredibly fast and who try to sneak up on you! Some of the puzzles are a bit too hard, and the first two bosses are a nightmare to try to beat, but overall it is a really good game. It must have at least 30 levels and they are good, long levels. I would highly recommend it to anyone who can tolerate, or even enjoy the simply aninimated graphic violence.
