Too short, too boring

After reading the reviews here, I decided this game sounded like a good one - boy, was I wrong.

I beat this game in about the same amount of time it would take to watch the movie - just over 2 hours. What a disappointment. The product description makes it sound like this game is an RPG - it really isn't. You have no choice in what character to play, and no choice in weapons or attack methods. In fact, your characters won't even get weapons until about 1/2 way through the game, and then Susan (who gets a bow & arrow) attacks less than when she started out.

As far as the "intricate puzzles" part of the description, this too is misleading...unless you consider an intricate puzzle just finding your way to the end of a maze. Basically that's all this game is. Each "chapter" is pretty much the same - here's your starting point, go find something (beaver dam, etc.). So you wander around through a ton of screen changes (most look almost identical) until you find it, killing a bunch of monsters in the process that will respawn if you go back to that screen. Unlike a typical RPG, killing monsters won't gain any experience points or leveling up, and only rarely offers a useful item. The only good thing about the constant screen changes in this game was that all of your party would be back with you - they often get separated easily unless you made sure you were walking very slowly. The most challenging part of the game for me was the last battle, and I won't spoil it for those who want this game, but after battling longer than I thought necessary, I realized a simple solution that finally ended it in about a second.

The only thing I liked about this game was the chance to relive the story through it ... but I could go see the movie and buy the book for what I paid for the game.

Way To Short

This game may look good on the cover, but it can be finished within 2-3 hours. Graphics are not realistic, neither are the sound effects. The battle parts are 'okay' but not at all realistic. I was very disappointed with it. Return of the King GBA game is a much better use of money. It's cheaper too.

It has many "chapters" that are not in either the book, or the movie (both of which I enjoy). I traded this game in for The Third Age, which is an awesome game. Save your money, get Return of the King.

It is fun but it is scary.

I loved the Narnia books, I loved the recent Narnia film, so I bought the Gameboy Advance game to take on holiday with me. I couldn't resist temptation and started it before I got on holiday. I played it for over 2 hours straight, and got quite far. When my hand was twisted into a claw shape, and I couldn't move or feel it anymore, I saved the game, switched it off, and went about life.

After take off, and lots of white knuckles from me, I went back to the game, determined to get past the section I'd got stuck at. (Where Peter has to get across the ice - I died every time!) Then I discovered my game hadn't saved, and I was straight back to square one, which was very annoying. I HATE having to restart games, unless I'm the one who decides that.

What really irritated me about this game was the fact that no matter how many times you killed a baddie, when you came back through, the baddie had reappeared. There was no definite way of killing them, and it really frustrated me, cos half the time, if you were travelling in a group, the others would get in your way, especially Lucy & Peter if you weren't playing as them. And their fighting skills leave little to be desired for. Peter was the best one. Susan threw snowballs which most of the time never reached their destination, and Lucy kicked. Wow.

I lost my game a couple of times on holiday, although my boyfriend managed to get it back for me, but by this time, I was fast losing what little patience I had with it, and made up my mind halfway through the holiday that I was gonna sell it without bothering it to complete it. It wasn't worth the money, it definitely wasn't easy for me to complete, and I now hate the game. Is it enough to put me off Gameboy games for life? No. This one yes.

It is fun,but it is scary.

At first,I was stuck on level 3.Then my friend got me to level 6.To get past level 6 you have to stay with the tiny rocks. If you do not,Edmund will lose energy.Anyway, yestrday I got to level 9 and I got caught by the guard.Since I was too scared too go on,I shut my Game Boy off.Although it is scary,it is fun.If you like scary stuff,I recommend this game.If you don't like scary stuff, find a different game.

Mediocre game, short, too easy, and boring.

First of all, I do like Narnia, the books and movie and all. I think this game doesn't do it any justice and a person who is just being introduced to Narnia may conclude that they don't like it just because they played this game. If you are a child under the age of ten, you may find this game much more exciting.

This game is about 3 hours long, maybe less. It is nothing like real Narnia, and is far too easy. You play as the different characters Ed, Susan, Peter, and Lucy, and each have their own way of attacking. It runs much like Spyro, which is neither side-scrolling, perspective, or first person.

Edmund punches at first, Lucy kicks (very ineffectively), Susan throws snowballs (what is that gonna do?) and Peter hits with a stick. Peter can kill any enemy almost instantly, but when he gets a sword it is LESS effective!

The game tries to follow the storyline, but goes off on its own paths sometimes, which can be incredibly boring. Since when did Edmund have to climb cliffs to reach the [Witch]'s castle? (P.S. Amazon won't let me write [witch] for real! But this is Narnia, the Lion, the [WITCH!!!] and the Wardrobe) Also, it follows some parts it shouldn't, such as Lucy and Aslan unmelting the creatures in the castle. That is a long, boring chapter.

And here is a warning to anyone who would buy this: If you find the squirrel's heirloom and then save the game and turn your unit off before the next chapter, when you begin to play again you will have to look for the heirloom again, but it won't exist anymore! Therefore you must begin the entire game over to get any further (it happened to me, anyone else happen to save the game at a horrible time?).

Overall, the game gets a little better as you progress into the un-snowy lands, but again it is simply too short. If you really want to spend money on this game, wait and spend as little as possible because you won't be enjoying it for more than a few hours. It could be a good game if there were more ideas involved, it was much longer, and more adventurous (and less easy to get lost in the snowy regions).

The enemies are very easy to defeat, especially the wolves when you play as Peter (and no, you can't choose who to play as). There are tiny goblins, big goblins, minotaurs, and almost every other enemy you saw in the movie. The White [Witch] Jadis IS easy to defeat, especially because you can stop every ten seconds and fully replenish your health!

One last bit is about the sound. The music is sleepy and dumb, it is not from the movie or anything, and only makes the game worse.

I have decided that if it were only a few dollars, it would be a better game, but it doesn't give you much Narnia experience or realistic battles. If they made a longer, 3D first person version for Nintendo DS....

Too short!!

This game was very fun to play. But just as I was really getting into it - it was over!

It probably didn't help that I had just finished a couple of weeks of the latest Zelda game!

This is an ''ok'' game.

I got this game for Christmas from my parents and I was really excited but when I played it there was a big let down!! Yeah, this was fun but it to short! I finished it in less than a day! This game is exactly the same as the HOBBIT only you can play four people and you've got no choice in weapons!
Over all this game is rated number 3 on my list!

I love Narnia, but

After playing the PS2 version of Narnia I expected a close level of attention to this gameboy advance title; however, it seems it was slapped together very quickly. The game is very linear and plot elements are skimmed through so quickly; they miss some scenes from the book/movie. Graphics and sound are good, but the pevensies aren't drawn very well. If you get an item, leave the area, come back, the item is there again, so you can really stock up. Short game, and i wish it was more expansive and not so linear.
