I do not have much else to add to the other positive reviews, except that of ALL my GBA titles, I have played this one about twice as much as the next closest one. It truly is like having a portable 2600 ... great, fun, easy to learn, easy to pick up and set down type games.
I bought the game about 3 weeks ago for $5.99 at my local Gamestop. So before paying $50 or more, you might want to check your local used game retailers. However, I personally think that the game IS worth $50 (think of it as buying a bunch of 2600 cartridges for $1 each!).
So if you grew up in the Atari 2600 era, don't hesitate - you will love this game!

OK these graphics are not up to todays standards. That is why the kids out there will not like this much. But for us oldies out there who grew up in the 1980's, these were the best games U could get! I enjoy bringing this game (and the GBA) when I am waiting at the DMV, airport ect. If you were a vidiot in the 80's this one is for you!
Pretty good

Most of the games in this anthology of Activision's golden age are little more than bizarre curiosities, but the sheer fact that there are 55 of them (complete with some unreleased prototypes and "alternate" versions of games involving *gasp* human blood) sure does make up for a lot. Some graphic muddiness due to the GBA screen aside, the video and sound emulation is right on. Most of the good 'uns (River Raid, Pitfall) still hold up surprisingly well, though Kaboom is totally unplayable without the paddle controller. And while you may never actually figure out what the hell is going on with Kabobber or the NASA-licensed Space Shuttle, you're bound to enjoy the minutes trying
Great collection of past games!

This is a great collection for those who can remember the old 2600 games. Keeping the high scores and including graphics of the patches and original manuals is great as well. Younger players might not get as much from it though. Its a great collection for the price for sure!
Portable Atari VCS? What more could you ask!

The emulation is as good as you could ask for on this handheld, and the game selection includes never-before-seen homebrew games and prototypes. If you're into Atari or Activision, you can't go wrong with this collection, even if you already have similar packages for Windows, Mac, PSX, or PS2. It's that good.
Of course, if you're not into oldies, steer clear!
great game!

Many reviewers have already wrote about the numerous games included in this amazing little cartridge, so I will not do a rehash. I just wanted to mention how this cart takes you on a journey into your younger days (if you are 30+) and can even change longlasting memories that you had. I am referring to Dragster, which I hated as a kid because I did not understand it. When I began playing it again on this cart, I still had problems...until I read the full directions (scanned into this cart). I am now hooked on this game and have played it for at least a few hours. I am sort of obsessed with getting the patch. You need a time of under 6.00 seconds and I have gotten it down to 6.01, so I am close. When I do finally get this magical score and earn the scan of the patch, i will truly feel I have earned it. Which is exactly the same feeling I had over two decades ago. Just amazing. Please note that the scores needed for the patches in the PS2 version were raised to make it easier, so you do not get a real feeling of accomplishment on that version that you do on this one.
All in all, this cart represents what happens when a company takes its job serious and pulls out all the stops to make a quality project.
SO FUN!!!!!!!!!

This game is the best ever!! You can earn patches for certain games and play classic 1980's type games! The only thing that isn't so good about it is the graphics, which aren't quite all that great. But this game is still a blast and I love it!!!
Superb

If you are a fan of the 2600 and have a desire to play the classics on your GBA, this collection will make you dance with joy. The games on this collection are fully emulated, not ported, so they run the original code. Fantastic!
Great presentation and excellent emulation. In addition to the prototypes and demos, there are even some newly written games for the Atari 2600 that are emulated here.
Unfortunately another reviewer mentioned the collection has lots of bugs. This is not true, he simply doesn't understand how to play the games.
a revised review for this game, it's excellent!

i originally wrote a bad review for this game due to what i thought were bugs ... by my "jumping to conclusions" i feel it is now up to me to correct this. problem is that i have a computer disc with all bad games that i was comparing it to.. ATARI assured me that these games are direct ports and that it was MY disc that had the "BUGS" ... after trying the originals , i can assure you that it is true, this game is exactly like the originals and is by far the best atari compalation to date ... better than any console version ... plus extras not to be released on an other version!!! also try it on your gameboy player to see how perfect it is!!!!! go out and buy it now!!! you will not be dissapointed!! please disregard the last review i wrote bashing this product.. i was WRONG! its really that good!!
