All I can say is "WOW"! Ridge Racer is by far the best game out of the 5 I own for my PSP. I own Wipeout Pure, and was somewhat happy with it after getting used to the controls, but as soon as I tried Ridge Racer it was all over. Wipeout Pure hasn't made it out of the case since. The headphones are a must with this game, the sound is incredible ... the music, the other cars zooming by, everything sounds amazing. If a car is sneaking up on your left side you hear him in the left ear so you can cut him off if you do it just right. This is the one game that has me seriously considering buying a PSP for my son - it's that good. When my friends ask to check out my PSP I always make sure Ridge Racer is in it because it never fails to impress. I could return 3 of my games and never miss them, but Ridge Racer and MLB are certainly worth the money. My kids love this game, I love it, my wife ... Hey, where'd she go???

Great racing game, cant put it down. Only bad thing is the numb thumb I am getting from using the controler! Great graphics and excellent game play. Just when you think you have it down they throw another race type at you and you are working hard to get the win. On the higher levels it is not uncommon to win with just 100 yards to go. Also fun to run competition into a mountian side, luckly they dont seem to remember you from race to race :) Best game so far for PSP.

This is the best looking game I have seen so far on the PSP. The animation is very smooth and the controls are pretty tight. Racing on the amateur tracks is pretty forgiving which helps you gain familarity with the tracks and with drifts (the speed and duration of drift turns are how you accumulate nitro) and gets very challenging at the pro levels where just one or two mistakes will lose the race.

As noted, there are quite a few amateur and pro level tracks with more available as you continue to win races. Winning races also grants access to new cars and tracks. There are time trials and single race challenges as well as a career mode. Also the original Ridge Racer is available and will bring a smile to older gamers. As with most racing games, the full replay after the race is usually entertaining and offers some minor perspective in tightening up some problem spots. Music is generally techno and appropriate to the heart pounding pace.

I have not tried it yet, but racing against someone via wifi should be great fun... and my understanding is that since the game resides in memory, once the race has been loaded, you can swap out the disk so you'll only need one umd for a race among several participating PSP's. That's a helpful.

This really is fantastic (graphically, animation, gameplay) game for the PSP and well worth owning.

This is probably one of the best racing car games I've ever played. The graphics are excellent but the game can get pretty challenging which at some point seems impossible to pass. I won't give up though. :) The one thing that I don't like is when I crash against a wall or hit another car, you don't see the "car damage" at all. I mean what's the point of car racing when you can't see the damage? ;)

Other than that, it's a great game. So go out and get it!! Go on! Shoo shoo! What are you doing reading this when you could be spending your time getting ready to buy this game?? Stop reading this and go! :) lol

i was soooooo surprice about this game all i got to say is i was never in to drift driving games untile i play this one i fell in love whit it can not wait till the second one comes out

With games these days going downhill like they are, its nice to see such a gem in the rough. This game will not let me put my psp down!!! The music is fantastic, the arcade physics are great (drift mania!). The graphics are stunning! Their just isnt enough good things I can say about this title! Something this one has that most psp race games seem to lack is a replay mode, and the ability to save and share my replay's... THIS IS A NEEDED FEATURE IN RACING GAMES!!!! Why would you have a slick race title and not have a replay mode (need for speed)? Oh well, enough said... Got 20 bones? GET THIS GAME!!!

For a launch title, Ridge Racer is an amazing game. It really shows off the great graphics on the PSP and the gameplay is great as well. Everything is near perfect on here. The graphics, sound, and controls are all outstanding although if you don't like arcade style racers you may want to avoid this or give it a rental. The game's use of power sliding works well and is fun although the game seems to be a bit easier because of it. Since the game require more streaming off the disk, the battery is life is shorter although I really don't mind it at all. Anyway, if you want a racing game for the PSP, one of the best is already out there waiting for you to pick it up.

This game has received a lot of negative critisism and I don't think it's completely justified.

In my opinion this game is quite good and rather addictive and I have a hard time imagining that a race game could be made any better for the PSP.

The "World Tour mode" allows you to unlock prizes, cars and new races and this motivates you to keep on going and ensures a long life time for the game.

As an unexpected bonus, Ridge Racer has opened my girl friend's eyes for the joy of playing video games, as she has become quite addicted to Namcos race game...

GET IT.

This is poetry and love stories in motion. When ever I am drifting around corners in this game while listening to the music, I feel like I am dancing with a car moving at 200 mph.

If you are looking for a reason to own a PSP, Ridge Racer is enough reason. It definitely shows the world that the PSP is going to challenge the Nintendo DS for the #1 spot.....I personally believe it will dominate.
