There are plenty of modes. Story(easy, medium, hard), Challenge, Level Creator, and plenty of other modes. The gameplay is weak compared to other platformers, but it's passable and has a lot of modes to cover up the fact. It's good that you can send and recieve maps online. The graphics and sound are refreshing, also.
------
Pros: Level Editor and plethora of modes. Can trade maps online. Good graphics and sound.
Con: Gameplay is average.
Great Classic, Remixed!

This is an awesome game, for fans and newcomer's alike. Has strong replay value, and continues to draw you into the game. It's very simple to pick up and play. You have a choice in the beginning to either play the original NES version, or the newer "Powered Up" version. Which is very bubbly and cutesy, but definitly fun.
If you're looking for a quick, fun platform/adventure game for the PSP, this game definitly has the full package.

Not a bad game at all. But some might say differently, I just happen to have always been a huge mega man fan. I had a blast playing this game, it was definitly a challenge on the harder difficulty settings which gave me hours of good gaming time. I recommend this for mega man fans but people who don't really care for mega man might find this a little boring.
Great game if you like the old MegaMan games

The remake of the first NES game to PSP is great. The graphic is stunning and the controll works nicly. The only problem i have is that its pretty damn hard :P But that has been a trade mark of the series from the start.
Great game, I recommend it for platform lovers.
Could this be the best MegaMan game at present

Mega Man returns to his roots with Mega Man: Powered Up, a remake of the original NES Mega Man game, complete with new characters, options, music, and attitude. Those who played the original NES cartridge or purchased Mega Man Anniversary Collection (PS2, GCN, Xbox) know how it wasn't for casual gamers. There was some pretty nice difficulty for us full-fledged gamers. Nowhere near a Super Ghosts 'N' Goblins difficulty, but a difficulty nonetheless. This remains intact with this remake as do a lot of things.
Firstly for changes, if you play the new style mode you'll realize that there's an edition of an opening stage as well as two new robot masters, Time Man and Oil Man. These duo of bots come with their own respective stages to master on top of the original six's levels. If you dislike the new style gameplay or changes, you can always go back to old style which is the game on a smaller screen with the opening stages, Time Man, and Oil Man excluded. Graphically the game has changed to a more chibi-inspired approach. Some may dislike it, but I personally enjoyed the colorful characters and levels. Voice work has been included which is a nice touch also. None of the voices made me cringe which is a first for quite a while. Music has been upgraded as well featuring returning themes with more modern sound and instruments-- an additional treat for audiophiles such as myself. Furthermore once you beat a boss using only Mega Man's Mega Buster, you can select to play as them in new style mode which is an added treat.
If you become bored with either new or old style modes, you can play Challenge mode. This mode features level designs encompassing different goals. My favorite addition would have to be the Construction mode which allows for aspiring designers to craft their own levels in a variety of themed locales and settings. Each room you create is its own grid, and you can place a set number of enemies in each grid. You're able to set platforms easily, drop in enemies, and add a boss all within minutes, or if you desire, take all the time you need to create one masterful level. The possibilities with the level creator are limitless allowing an infinite number of replay value. What's better yet is that you can share your levels to anyone over Capcom's own server.
Mega Man Powered Up is a fantastic remake of a classic game that launched the life of a gaming icon. If only Capcom would take Mega back to its roots or continue to unleash great Mega Man games such as this would Mega's career stop becoming so tarnished. Sadly, I do not believe that Capcom do more effort to create good remakes of old classics MegaMan NES.

First off let me say I grew up playing Mega Man games on the original Nintendo, and I loved every one. So naturally when this game came out I picked it up. The new ability to play as the bosses throught the levels you have beaten is very cool, as well as the new additions to the levels, but I could not get over the "kiddie" graphical overhaul that took place, especailly after playing Mega Man Maverick Hunter X. It still has all of its Mega Man charm but the graphics killed it for me, don't get me wrong there are good, but a step back from the aforementioned Maverick Hunter X. Still if you absolutley love the blue bomber then pick up this game, but don't be suprised at its new look.
You know, I don't like it.

Well, it's not that I *don't* like it. It's just that Megaman without sliding and the ability to charge isn't that fun to me. But this is a classic, and despite Megaman's absurdly large head, it looks and feels alright. I thought the level editor was underwhelming, and if there's potential to build levels as good as any in the real game, I'm just not seeing it. If you like the original game, well...go for it. Everyone else, pick up Maverick Hunter X instead.

Being a longtime Mega Man fan for countless years, I simply had to pick up this game for the PSP. In case you didn't know, Mega Man Powered Up is a remake of the classic 5-bit NES original, but still captures that old school feeling, while keeping its own style and substance. The graphics have been given a 3D makeover, but the game play stays the same: run through levels, defeat the main boss, and receive the main boss's power/ability. Players are also given the choice to play two different versions of the game.
In the Powered Up version, there is more story and background, which also reveals the origins of Mega Man and his arch-nemesis, Dr. Wily. In addition, the original soundtrack has been remixed and the level designs have been slightly tweaked. You can even play as the main robot masters (e.g. Cut Man) if you fight and defeat them with just the regular buster weapon. Using their powers and abilities will enable you to retrieve hidden items. For example, Guts Man's lifting abiltity may help you reach a certain spot that you couldn't reach before. Finally, there are two extra bosses never-before-seen in any Mega Man game: Oil Man and Time Man!
The Old School version allows you to play in the tradition of the classic Mega Man games on the NES, while keeping the new 3D look. Unlike the Powered Up version, the original NES game soundtrack is restored. The levels are also as they originally were. However, you cannot play as any of the robot masters and there is no Oil Man or Time Man. Still, purists and die hard fans of the franchise will not be disappointed!
Whether you're familiar or new to the Mega Man series, this is an excellent game for everyone! You can even set the difficulty level to Easy, Normal, or Hard, which makes it playable even for younger children. An outstanding job by Capcom, indeed!
