Yes, you may say "...???", but just listen to me...I have played the import version of this game, and it is mind boggling... its well worth the [$], plus in the future, many games will support this same hardware that ships with this game. You get a 40+ button joystick btw with this... and next years version will be on XBOX LIVE!
Im waiting for Enders game for xbox to use this joystick...=)

ONLY A HARD CORE GAMER WILL SPEND [A LOT] FOR THIS

LOOK.....DID MICRO NOT LEARN ANYTHING FROM FROM THE FAILURE OF THOSE RIDICULOUS [EXPENSIVE] XBOX BUNDLES TRYING TO MAKE YOU BUY ABOUT FIVE GAMES WITH THE SYSTEM? COME ON.....I LIKE THE XBOX BUT I AM NOT GOING TO SPEND [A LOT] ON A CONTROLLER THAT LOOKS LIKE IT CAN A WHEEL BLOCK FOR A BULL DOZER. ITS ALSO A LOT BIGGER THAN THE XBOX TOO TAKING UP SO MUCH SPACE THAT I ALMOST HAVE TO GET A TABLE TO MAKE IT GET USED CORRECTLY. "IF THE XBOX IS SO POWERFUL WHY DON'T THEY MAKE A CONTROLLER THAT IS LESS EXPENSIVE LIKE SAY THE FORCE FEED BACK CONTROLLERS?????" I LIKE MECH GAMES BUT MICRO HAS TURNED ME OFF FROM THIS ONE. I'LL SAVE MY MONEY FOR "MECH ASSAULT".

amazing!!!

this game is absolutely incredible. the amount of detail they used on the controller, game, box, manuals, etc. really adds to the game value.

and, instead of making a crap game and relying on the controller as a gimmick to boost sales, the gameplay is great!

TOO BAD IF YOU DON'T ALREADY HAVE IT, YOU PROBABLY NEVER WILL!!!

that's right, kids. because of the price, they made a severly limited quantity of this great title. some stores were only shipped the number of preorders +1, and most were only shipped the preorders. that's right, they aren't( and probably won't ever be} on the shelves.

and sorry to those who got their hopes up from the first review, but the developers are saying it is likely that the controller will only be supporting steel batallion titles.

but who cares! it's easily the best of the year, and it'll keep me busy for quite some time.

Over Priced and Over Hyped

Don't be fooled by the hype for this game. It is severely overrated and boring. Once you realized how much you spent on ONE game you'll be kicking yourself like I did. Mech games are fun, especcially mechassault because you can actually see what's going on in the game. By trying to make the game as realistic as possible you hardly see anything in Steel Battalion. The screen is cluttered with every single readout that you need and don't need. It decreases your field of view and there is no way around it. The entire premise of the game is see mech, shoot mech, dash sideways to avoide incoming missiles, shoot mech. It got old real fast and there is no way they're coming out with an online version considering this one will sell poorly. 4% of Xbox owners MIGHT buy this game because when you think about it you could get four other games for the price of this one. Or at least wait a bit for some of the other hyped games coming out. Microsoft knew that only the truly hard core gamers would buy it which makes no sense. Why not design a game that everyone can enjoy and easily buy? Don't blow $200 on this game like I did, save your money and buy four other games.

You'll be sorry you didn't get this game before Christmas

This game ROCKS! (.) <-- period. I played this game over at Microsoft on a big Capcom setup and it blew my mind away. I couldn't believe the details in the explosions and the incredible depth of field this game has. Come Christmastime it will be hard to find this game, as most hardcore mech players will have bought them up. So if you like mech games at all I suggest you invest in this one and if it turns out you dont like it, just sell it on Ebay for more then you paid for it. Someone will buy it for Christmas.

Worth The Money...for hard core players

This game is hands down fun. I have been a fan of mech simulations for years, starting with the original Mech Warrior and the BattleTech Universe. This game is just plain crazy. the controller adds so much to it. and alot of bass from your TV cant hurt either :-). But for the casual gamer, this is a rental (if you can). For anyone who wishes to have the most fun they can with a 40 foot tall walking tank, buy it! AND THE SEQUAL WILL BE OUT SOON AND "X-BOX LIVE!" COMPATABLE!!!

great?

This game got a pretty fair review from game website. As far as the presentation goes, it is the most impressive game I have ever seen. I always dream to be able to control a giant robot. And I think this is as close as it gets for now. The controller with 40 buttons adds realism to the game. It is a definite must have for all the hard core gamer. I believe that this game will soon go online in 2003. is way too expensive consider all the gamer out there aren't printing their money for living!

Big Mechs, Big Guns...need I say more?

Basically it goes out to this... are you a Gundam fan? Are you a Armored Core fan? Are you a mech fan that wants to get one step closing to stepping on your 11th grade science teacher with a 100 ton mech?...well, uh that may be stepping out of bounds. Any though this game will rock the senses out of any mech fan, Gundam fans, Core fans, Mechwarrior fans will get a real adrenaline pump from this... it's like injects a mocha coffe straight into your veins after shooting up ten pounds of crack then jumping of a 100000 foot cliff, of course at first glance and play... sadly as all games the mega high (and I mean real mega high) does wear off, it gets tiring and boring. Depending on your dedication, like I said hard core mech fans should buy this without a thought, others... well i can't help you there. Bascially If you have time, patience espcially and the money grab it before it lights on fire this Xmas, I give it a 10 out of 10 on first apperence, I give it 10 out 10 on graphics, 10 out of 10 on sound, 10 out of ten for controls (how couldn't you?) 10 out of 10 for gameplay and finally 9 out of 10 for reply value, it does get boring... er. This game I think will always blow your mind when you play it, only problem is the size of the damn controller, hard to maintain in a small house like mine.

Innovative and Challenging, Well Worth the Price

Steel Battalion is truly an innovation in gaming. Not since the days of the BattleTech Centers (originally Virtual World) has a game like this existed. The controller is the bulk of the cost, and with more games "in development" using it, you will definately get more than your money's worth.

Steel Battalion itself takes time to get the hang of. It has been compared to "driving a manual transmission car...while juggling." However, the difficulty only adds to the realism. Your mech moves very realistically, with varying acceleration and even the ability to fall over if you move too quickly. The controller has an eject button, and if you don't use it, there are consequences for dying. You'll have to discover those for yourself. Once you get the hang of the game, it is very enjoyably and truly challenging.
