This game improves on the last two by leaps and bounds , but is still bogged down by bad cameras , sub par graphics , and alot of bugs . This game is also one of the last acclaim titles released sense acclaim went bankrupted in early 2005 and this also means that there will be no more legends games . The developers of this game must have been dedicated wrestling fans to make a game this lovingly made to appeal to the most jaded and hardcore american wrestling fans who have been watching wrestling for decades . This game isn't just for kids , but for adults as well because of who's all in this game : RODDY PIPER , HULK HOGAN , STING , DUSTY RHODES , JAKE "THE SNAKE" ROBERTS , THE ROAD WARRIORS , AND EVEN THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR (who no kid onder 12 knows about) .
I ONLY HOPE ANOTHER VIDEO GAME DEVELOPER COMES UP WITH A SIMILAR GAME TO THIS UNIQUE FRANCHISE AND HAS SOME WRESTLERS FROM JAPAN & OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD IN IT .

I think that the graphics on this game are great, and the wrestlers look like the real deal. I also like that they come down the aisles with their costumes and robes on. For instance, Hacksaw Jim Duggan comes down with the 2X4. The gameplay lacks a little for my taste. Too many times your guy makes the same moves over and over and it gets old. The announcing constantly repeats itself. The classic matches are good and bring back memories of renting and watching the original Wrestle Manias on PPV. You can re-live the Andy Kauffman and Jerry Lawler match from the point when Kauffman had been pile driven 6 times. Or you can re-live the Hogan Ultimate Warrior match when The UW press slammed Hogan, and you have to fight your way back to win. Great selection of wrestlers.
Movement is sometimes smooth, but other times it jerks around, and you can't make contact with the opponent because you are facing the wrong direction. I haven't played the game enough to be too harsh, I am a classic wrestling fan, and this is probably the best one out for XBOX. However there isn't much competition. N64 still had the best wrestling game. I would rent it and try it out before buying it. This game will drop in price soon.
Worst crap ever

They really could have done something with that game, put in a better engine, less damn collisions between wrestlers.
That game is a disgrace and the ones that followed where even worst imagine.
The wrestlers look very good, the roster is amazing, but when you play the game it just doesnt feel right, you dont feel in control of your wrestlers, and to many glitch in the game make is Yuke.
The best wrestling game right now is still WWE Bring on the pain.
Its is not a pleasure for me to bring down a wrestling game like i am doing right now, and to tell you the thruth i add high hopes when they introduced this one, they said a new engine etc etc, i was really hoping to get something like NO WAY OUT on the N64 but i just didnt.
Sad i am still very much a fan of wrestling and even more a fan to the 80 wrestling.

This game is what i've been waiting for since the first legends of wrestling game came out. Put it this way, the first too sucked out loud. But this one, come a lot of waiting from me, has defientely marked an improvement in terms of graphics, gameplay, sound, everything! Just put it this way, there are over 70 wrestlers. Thats crazzzzyyyy!!! Also, there is commentary, (although they repeat themselves waayyy to much), there is an ring anouncer and there is every single different kind of match known to man including first blood, table, ladder, TLC, 2v2, 3v3v3, 4v4, battle royal, cage, everything! The play models are defenitely better then before, and although they still have the arcade touch to them, don't look that stupid. The finishing moves couldn't be more realistic, the new enhanced grappling system is wayyyy better and more efficient then before, and for the people who say that they repeat their moves way to many times, read the rulebook or go through the tutorial. The classic matches are sweet, unlockables are cool, and best of all, the actuall CD is pretty cool, (Ok thats kinda random i know, but it is i mean look at the shattered glass, its tiiiight.)
Pros:
Good graphics
Nice gameplay
Classic matches
Every match type known to man
Commentary
Ring announcers
Unlockables
70+ wrestlers, highlight the +
Cons:
Commentary can repeat itself
Thats about it!

Showdown is the best wrestling game ever made. I love it!! WOW!!
GRAPHICS- Absolutely true to life graphics and a MAJOR upgrade from the previous Legends games. Every wrestler is instantly recognizable and yes the wrestlers hair and clothing really does move along with motion. You can see blood spatter from the wreslters face if he's getting beat up (blood can be turned OFF in "options" mode for kids). Every wrestler is also his own real life size. For example: I could clearly see that Hulk Hogan was taller and had bigger biceps than Jake the Snake. The real life stadiums are cool and the Jumbotrons show video "hype" of each wrestler in the backgound as they enter the ring.
GAMEPLAY- I've read some reviews claiming that this game has glitches in gameplay. Those reviewers must have a broken Xbox because I've played Showdown for at least 5 hours now and I think the gameplay is fantastic. I have not noticed any major glitches, slowdown, or delayed reactions at all (Royal Rumble included). Everything is smooth and performing moves is a blast.
The computer AI is very smart and difficulty levels can be adjusted. It seems now that "counter" moves are big in this game which adds alot of strategy. Now you have to ask yourself "should I be aggressive or wait for my opponent to make a move and try to counter it". Counter moves can be devestating in Showdown if you time it right. I noticed if you attempt the same move too frequently on your opponent that the computer catches on to this and will counter and make you pay.
There must be millions of moves and its amazing to watch the intense 3D animations. TOTALLY AWESOME. Showdown has also simplified executing the moves on the controller so its not so hard to perform special moves. I've been playing wrestling games for years and I GUARANTEE you there are moves in Showdown that you've never seen before. There are power moves (Ultimate Warrior uses brute strength), finisher moves, sleeper moves, injury moves, cheap shots (Andy Kaufmann will poke you in the eye), weapons, turnbuckle moves, out of ring action, counter moves etc.
Each wrestler has his own unique "signature" entrance, taunts, and finisher moves. Macho Man says "OHHHH YEaaahhh", the Ultimate Warrior bangs his chest, Hacksaw Jim Duggan comes in with his 2X4 and does his famous football tackle finisher move as the crowd chants "USA USA", and on and on. One example of strength realism- I was playing as Andre the Giant vs skinny Andy Kaufmann. Andy poked me in the eye and while I was stunned for a moment he tried to bodyslam me as Andre the Giant!! He attempted to pick me up and immediately grabbed his back in pain after failing to lift up the Giant it was hillarious!!
SOUND-5.1 Dolby Surround is fantastic. Even Showdown's intro right after you pop in the disc is cool with Quiet Riot jamming to "Bang your Head" while the wrestlers are introduced in bodyslamming glory. Commentary has been added this year and is totally fun to listen to. Funny, cocky, & very detailed. All the sounds seem to be right on. The crowd has their heros and villians. For example- the crowd loves the Hulkster and boos the Iron Sheik out of the stadium. Yes they do chant "USA USA" with Hacksaw Jim Duggan I was very impressed with that. Now that brings back some memories of the WWF glorydays don't you think? One thing I noticed is you can hear the joints/cartialidge snapping & grinding when certain moves are being performed on unfortunate wrestlers (such as a violent bear hug). WOW. I'm not kidding when I say Showdown is realistic like you've never seen in a wrestling game before.
What can I say I could type forever about Showdown I'm totally addicted to it and upset about the bogus reviews that had me bummed out. Now that I've played Showdown for myself I'm still in complete shock & thrilled about how fun and realistic this game is. Simply put, its the best wrestling game ever made...-Graphics are jaw dropping -Gameplay is smooth -Color commentary is detailed and fun to listen to -You can even attack the refs!! -Camera angles are great and they've added an (intentional) slow motion when doing some special moves where the camera moves into an up close angle where you can see the action perfectly and you can view every skeletal joint in the wrestlers body react in slow motion as he's being slammed to the ground its truly an awesome site unlike anything I've ever seen. -Every wrestler is true to life in every way and the unique personalities are right on. No two wrestlers are the same. OK- stop reading this and try out Showdown for yourself brother!!!

This game blows. There are so many bugs in the system. At times my guy will stay out of the ring and I have lost control of him and get counted out. I did a 3 way dance and eliminate the other two and I just sit in the ring(the match never ended). One time I was in the ring, next thing I knew, I was outside the ring. I was about to win a match and the computer opponent leaves the ring and gets counted out(which is kinda cool in a way but there's no storyline so that can't be it!). I was looking forward to these guys to get it together and provide a good alternative or at least solid wrestling game and I get disappointed. Glad I rented first but can't believe I wasted the money.
I miss TECMO WORLD WRESTLING for my NES!
Who needs the WWE when you got Showdown!
