This game is top in my book.It also doesnt follow the story line of the movie which I think is great, it is a pirate game.Though it does have the undead in the game and other things from the movie. But it is not for the impatient. The sword fights are hard and take time to master. The ship battles are hard and take time. Basicly this game takes time. If you have the patients to figure them out and as it is a RPG you gain experience as you go and they get easier. You manage alot in this game. The ships condition, cargo, crew and the crews moral, your gear, basicly everything. This game is probly to complex for younger gamers.Graphics are mint in detail. The flaws in it are the glitches. It will freeze now and then. Though I only noticed after playing it for almost 8 hours straight. I haven't enjoyed a pirate game in many years this one is the best I have played. Before this I loved a game simply called Pirates for the Commodore 64.Simply this game is not for everyone and is complex.
Ahhhh, the suckiness...

The ride was awesome, the movie was awesome, this game is honestly the worst Xbox game I've ever played. It doesn't even have anything to do with the movie or the ride, they just took an old russian computer game that nobody knew about and renamed it. A cheap attempt to earn an extra buck by fooling people with the movie's success. Some people seem to have liked it, but I have no idea why. You do whatever you want though, just don't say I didn't warn you.
A much better game than most

While POC is not by any means perfect, it is a very enjoyable game to play and has consumed hours of my time. Graphics are great, combat is challenging (particularly at sea or against a fort). The game is essentially non-linear so you can go practically anywhere at anytime. You are free to pursue the path of heroic captain or ruthless pirate. You can manage a fleet of up to four war/merchant vessels, engage in trade, and even board enemy vessels to ransack or capture as your own.
If you hold it to the standard of Bethesda's other XBOX game (Morrowind), you may be a bit disappointed. Your character cannot be customized in terms of appearance or sex. The number of areas you can explore are more limited than in Morrowind. You'll need to be patient because you will die (A LOT!!). Graphics are a bit choppy at times and the quest log has a bug or two.
If you have some patience and can live with a few bugs, you'll love this RPG>

This game could have been a great game had bethesda finished it. I am sure that they were pressed for time but to release a defective product there is no excuse! they should have recalled the game. insted ,all they did was issue an e-mail to stores to expect returns. and even if you follow the step by step instructions from the bethesda site on how to keep the game from freezing or reseting it does not work, believe me I tried many times! the game is rather fun when it's not malfunctioning however it becomes quiet irritating when you have been at sea for an hour sinking ships only to see your game freeze!!! arggghhh!!! so i could not take it any more and returned the game back to the store for a full refund. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME ALL OF THEM ARE DEFECTIVE!!!! SHAME ON YOU BETHESDA SOFTWORKS!!!

Probably 5 stars for beginners, but only 2 for experienced RPGers. You fight with swords or with a ship(s). Only one technique is needed to be successful at either. Storyline is linear and the player is led by the hand through the sequence. Most of the "required" interactions are unavoidable. Few or no explorations of discovery are required. Not much to discover anyway. Talking with NPCs is pretty much a waste of time and quite dull. After spending a great deal of time and effort becoming skilled and adept at trading, it became apparent that trading was a complete waste of time. More money then will ever be needed is available through much simpler efforts encountered in the normal flow of the game. It can be fun to try out the various ships available but only one upgrade is needed to finish the game. You can take out a Corvette or Man-o-War with the ship that you start with. One ship actually works best for completing the game (with one possible exception). The graphics are good by today's standards. Player control and player movement are only average...difficult at time. It is a stretch to advertise this game as open-ended. One can deviate from the storyline but the usual scenario is that one discovers a lovely, secluded beach only to find that there is nothing to it except a lovely, secluded beach. Experienced RPGers will find one of the two best swords in the game before they even get to Redmond for their first quest. RPGers like to build their character as the game evolves. Only one skill in this game is important and can be maxed out quite quickly. After that, only one other skill seems meaningful and that is only in the "nice-to-have" category. There are few bugs but they can be devastating. Loading a previous "save" won't always solve your problem. One bug locked me up so bad the only way out was to unplug the computer. Even the power/reset button wouldn't work. One bug persisted throughout all 20(?) saves and the game had to be re-played from the beginning.
The game is simple and straight-forward. Graphics are good and sea-battles are fun until you figure them out. Not a bad start for those new to RPG/RTS type games. Experienced players will be frustrated because of the limited scope and absence of discovery and character developement. Battle tactics are not necessary except for one which is easily learned.
I recommend trying it out mainly because sea-battles are hard to find in the RPG arena or because one is new to RPGs. Don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.
This is not that RPG you've been waiting for...

Wow, this game has problems. They needed another six months in testing on this one. The big problem is how choppy and headache-inducing the camera is. It is simply way to big a problem to be overlooked. Walking through a town and talking to people will make you cross your eyes in frustration. There is a two-second delay to the buttons you push trying to interact with people, so they walk away while you are attempting to engage them. Going into and out of doors is a real hassle and there are long load times everywhere you turn.
Don't these game designers realize that we have all played Halo?
Popping out of the game experience to a 30 second load screen everytime you take ten steps just WILL NOT FLY.
The animations are bad, the sword-fighting is a lot of bad things but mostly it's just not fun.
In fact, that sums up the whole game-- NOT FUN.
A bit rough around the edges but still a great game

Alot of what other reviewers have been saying is true. The camera angles can get frustrating, especially in closed in spaces. Some aspects of the game seem like they could have been more refined and finished, yet all in all this is a great game and still deserves a great rating. The story is excellent and there is plenty to explore and many side quests as well (Not near as much as Morrowind though). The sea battles are very well done as is the dueling. There are many ships from which to build your armada and skills to level up in. If you still have doubts go ahead and rent it first, but definitely check it out and give it a chance, otherwise you will be missing out on a great game

This is simply a fantastic game-incredible complexity, I don't know hao they crammed it all in-the se-battles , the Duals-you can play this game for months and still discover new things-one of the most complex detailed games ever made.

I was dissapointed that this wasn't like Morrowind because many of the previews I read said "It's like Morrowind with Pirates". I thought it was terribly clunky all around and the controls were driving me crazy. Rent it first if you can actually find a video store that carries it.
