A game with many problems

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 0 / 0

I read about this game in Game Informer and it sounded interesting. Unfortunatly this game falls short on many levels. The graphics look good but they are not great, the gameplay is choppy and very sticky. Initially I thought I had spilled some soda or juice on my controller but that's not the problem, the game is just choppy. And this gets irritating really quick.
Nothing really special or outstanding about the game, but with a little more fine tuning it could have been great.

great game

pariah has had mixed reactions since the day it was released. but the truth is people love it. it even spawned a branch-off(warpath). it has seven upgradeable weapons a keen story and great lush graphics and game play. all in all it i quite a game.

great game, excellent option to play

This game uses the same motor of unreal.

Anyone who have played half-life and anyone of their sequels maybe will like to play Pariah.

The quality of the graphs is very good and the ambient of the game and history are similar to half-life.

I finished it in two days, seems to me a good election for those who they like the series of games that consist of ending the enemy.

rental at best

I really wanted to like this game - Pariah is rather pretty with great environmental textures and decent character & vehicle models. And it has a feature that allows you to make your own maps and share them with friends. I really wanted to like Pariah. Sadly, pretty graphics and customizable maps aren't enough to make this game a winner. Pariah is clunky - character movement feels slow, especially when compared to other shooters such as Halo 2, Far Cry, and Black. And the driving segments of the game aren't much better with vehicles that are difficult at best to control. The plot is uninspired with very little character development and even fewer reasons to care about the characters. The weapons aren't particularly inspired, and they lack a certain "omph" that leaves you feeling disconnected - though the gun upgrade system is kind of neat. Enemy AI isn't too bad, but their "catch phrases" get old after hearing them for the three hundredth time. Worse, at least if you care about online play, is the lack of xBox Live support for this game - the game supports it, there's just no one playing this game online. When I logged into xBox Live to find downloadable content and a quick match, there were none to be found; so don't expect to play this game with other people unless you have three friends sitting on the couch with you. The game does give you the option to play against computer controlled bots, but those are a far cry from real people. Bottom line, not a bad game if you can get it for $10 or less, but you get what you pay for. You could do worse, or you could just pick up a copy of Halo.

Graphic is OK. The playing experience is like most other 1st person shooter. Not better. Nothing new.

Pariah started out with a lot of promise. The storyline seemed like it was headed towards something great. The weapons and scenery started out unique.

However, once I got to the final level, I realized that there was very little storyline. After beating the game, I realized that I wasted several hours of my life.

The scenery looks nice at first, but they you realize that there are only 4 different types of scenery that was being constantly recycled.

The weapons too seemed very similar and without much change between them. There were basic weapons such as a machine gun, shotgun, and sniper rifle... but nothing truly unique or interesting (especially for being a sci-fi game).

One good thing I can say about this game is that it was not too short and not too long. It seemed to be a good balance as far as that goes.

This game is great!!!!!!!!

This game is terrrific. It is by far on of the best xbox games to come out since halo 2. For those of you who love to play co-op, this is the game for you.
The graphics and colors could be a little better, but the game is so much fun and that is all that really matters.
The boards are huge and some and the weapon upgrades are awesome.
basically a watered down version of halo but just as much fun.

Pariah is a solid game -- nothing exceptional about it, nothing that will cause you to remember it after you've played it, but it's a good time

The best game you've never played

This one of those games that went sadly under the radar. If you liked any game from the Doom, Unreal, Half-Life, or Halo series. You'll find something cool here.

Now I'm not an FPS guy by any stretch of the imagination, so the fact that this game got my attention is worth notice.
First off we all have our different styles of shooting people and dealing with fragfests. Pariah acknowledges that by allowing you to mod your weapons to fit your styles.
Snipins your thing? max it out with enhanced vision, armor piercing and and expanded clips? Stuff like that. The only bad thing about this is it kind of makes the AI weak around endgame.

Levels are large, expansive, and interactive to a point. many things can be shot at and blown up.

The story I think takes a step in the right direction as far as believable storylines go. You're not Mater Chief fighting the entire covenant or saving the world or something. You're an army doctor who has an authority problem and got shot down by scavengers and through exploration finds the truth about his virally infected patient. Throughout the whole thing your main goal is two-fold, protect your own ass, and protect your patient, Karina.
Vehicles. Eh. Hindered the gameplay. I got in them because the game said I had too, not because I wanted to.
Multiplayer is awesome and takes a step in the right direction for those of us who like doing things are own way. You can create your own maps much like you could with Simcity or Tony Hawk, you have list of objects and tools for terrain editing and scenery, and it's very straightforward. Pro modders or level designers may look at this as watered down or babied version, but most of us aren't either of those things, so it shouldn't be a problem.
The saving is checkpoint style, which apparently gets some people wound more tightly than a noose in a tree, but really isn't bad. They are mostly frequent enough that if you do die You'll remeber exactly where you had to go and what to do so you don't die. Some of them are too far apart, usually the first one in a level is the hardest one to get to.
Really, the only bad thing is that this things has gone the way of Beyond Good and Evil.

Basically, if you want a shooter that's innovative, fun, and a break from the norm, then go buy this game now. If want the same cookie cutter halo bullcrap we've been seeing these few years, well then you just wasted time reading this review.
