This was what my grandson wanted at Christmas. He was four 1/2 at the time. It was over his head but he had a blast playing it He made spiderman climbing up on to streetlights and would make him fall and go "splat". Now my son-in-law loves it

Good graphics, bad game

I really don't like the game, the missions are boring, it has no intro, no history, nothing, just an spider jumping around and walking everywhere and nobody cares, I should buy Grand Turismo instead.

Great game, but no replay?

I was pretty impressed with Spiderman 2 on the PS2. I didn't think they could top it, well they did. They took all the elements that made SM2 so fun to play and improved on everything else.

It's free roam again, ala GTA. The graphics are awesome, detailed and great looking. The gameplay never gets boring. Even if you have to swing all the way across New York City, it's still fun to watch. The fighting moves have gotten a nice tune-up and There's all sorts of new enemies to tackle. There is a new button system but don't worry, Bruce Campbell will once again guide you through all the fundamentals.

Now, as I mentioned in the title, there's no replay. What I mean is, once you complete the game, you can't start over and play through the missions again. You can do it once more, as the black suited Spidey but after that, you basically have to erase your saved game in order to play through it again. This is a disappointment for me, because I like to play through games more than once or twice, if it's a really good one. Also, I want to keep my progress with the first game I have because I'm working on all the extra stuff.

My only other problems with the game were the stupidity of one mission strand (being MJ's personal transportation) and one of the gangs, the Arsenic Candy girls. I mean, really, how believable are these villains? With their bottle throwing and hammer swinging, they should be cake for our webslinger. I just have to laugh everytime I'm in battle with them because they're so retarded.

This game is highly recommended by me but if you can't get you hands on the collector's edition, it's nothing to hold out for, just get the regular version. It's basically a different colored box and you get to play as Harry Osborn but all you can do is race and confront petty thugs. There's no missions for him to do per se and after playing him for 5 or 10 minutes, you'll get bored and go back to Spidey or Black suited Spidey.

Best Spider-Man Game Ever

I loved spider-man 2 on ps2, but spider-man 3 on the ps2 was a dissapointment. Spider-Man 3 the ps3 collector's edition however is fantastic!! The collector's edition has these new features: play as New Goblin which is great fun. There are also interviews from the film makers. The standard gameplay as both Spider-men are amazing. I love the graphics as well. If you have a ps3, then this is an auto-matic buy. I loved it!!

P.S, if you don't have the collector's edition but you have PSN, then you can buy New Goblin from the Play Station store (just a heads up).

Get the normal version instead!!!

The main portion of this game is excellent. This portion however, is included in all versions of the game. Playing as Spider-Man is really fun, but the Collector's Editions of games are about cool new features, right? WRONG! The only additional feature that is worthwhile is the ability to play as the New Goblin (Harry Osbourn). However, all information presented would lead you to believe that you can do a lot with him. After all, it's $10.00 more! But no, all you can do is fly around doing races. Every once in a while, a random crime will occur, and you can fight in that. That's it. You can't get off the hoverboard, and all attacks are weak except for the bomb (which pretty much easily kills all the thugs). It lets you control Goblin with the tilt sensor in the PS3 controller, but after trying to do this for a few seconds, you'll realize this is worthless and turn off the tilt so you can control him normally. Simply put, the Collector's Edition offers one new feature that is totally broken, and then charges you an extra $10.00 for it. It's just not worth it. Buy the normal version of the game instead.

This is a good clean game. I'd recommend it for kids under 18 or even over 18 who just want a good action game. Collectors edition for the PS3 get to exclusively play the Goblin using the Six axis controller and use him in the end too.

Best Spider-Man Game of the Trilogy

Spider-Man 3 combines the aspects of a successful video game in an excellent way, with better graphics than previous incarnations and fun gameplay that is also not quite so repetitive.

My only major complaint is that the New Goblin character which makes up the Collector's Edition (which is $10 more than the normal edition) portion of the game has very limited playability and missions (races). Although fun to mess around with, this fun only lasts for the first few minutes.

The graphics of the game are also hit or miss, meaning that the characters don't always look like the characters from the movie, and given the power of the PS3 I found this strange. However, they are improved over all the other Spider-Man games.

Otherwise, this game is truly the best Spider-Man video game created so far.

Now this is what I'm talking about

Now this is what I'm talking about!!!
This game is really cool. I have not been able to put it down. I haven't completed it yet, but here it goes. I never had a chance to play Spiderman 2 on the PS2, but I know that this installation is 10 times exponentially more fun than the 1st SM (Spiderman). The free roam ability is reminiscent of the Grand Theft Auto series along with the many missions. There are also sub missions where you have to stop crimes in progress while just swinging through the city by fighting against the different crime gangs. It says there are 42 missions. And these missions are very detailed & in depth I must add. I completed the 1st Lizard mission & the large underground sewer environment in this mission is awesome. I completed the 1st Scorpion mission which took place on an island fortress that was also very detailed & the graphics were great. I have unlocked the New Goblin playable character & I have only completed a couple of mission/races with him but the 6 AXIS control is really, really, cool. You actually steer the glider by articulating the controller. I REALLY LIKE THIS. The detail of NYC is very accurate down to the missing twin towers :-(. Times Square actually has the advertisement monitors on the side of the buildings that have real ads. What's really cool is the lighting & detail in these ads. The swing controls of SM are very good. My only complaints are that are when I was fighting the Scorpion there was "selective damage" to him in the fight. During the fight I was able to inflict damage, but at other parts of the fight my attacks just passed through him & did no damage. This happened a lot during the fight. WTF developers?! This was very annoying... Also there are instances where you have to pick up an object or interact with the environment by pressing the square button. Example, I was on a mission where the clock was ticking & I had to get rid of a bomb. When standing in front of the bomb the square action button appears on the screen. Well, if you are standing in the wrong spot & press the square button, SM will perform attacks instead. THIS IS VERY ANNOYING.... My last gripe would be & I don't feel that it could have been addressed because SM can climb walls & he is in weird positions sometimes, is the camera angles are confusing & you don't know where you are. I usually end up just jumping to the ground to figure out where I am. Other than these complaints the game is excellent. I am glad that Sony developers finally created a game for the PS3 that is worthy of the system's potential. This is what I call a next generation game.

Not as polished as it should be, but still good

This game is fun and challenging... but not without bugs (no pun intended). I have seen arms going through walls, a lady's purse suspended in mid-air over, some sound crackles, etc. I still like the game.
