FUN, MORE FUN, PLUS EVEN MORE FUN!

there hasn't been a game this fun for quite some time. the last time i had this much fun playing was when conflict desert storm came out. i love the free roaming this game offers. it's so refreshing compared to the so many linear games out now. you can go just about anywhere. (beware of restricted zones) you can fly, drive, shoot, & blow up any vehicle in the game. the graphics are great. the graphics are a lot like Full Spectrum Warrior. you can choose one of three characters, each with their own strengths & weaknesses. the maps are insanely large. even using a vehicle, it will take a good 5 minutes to get across the map. the primary objectives are capturing a "deck of 52" military & civilian people under General Songs leadership. there are also lots of secondary objectives & tasks to up your bank account. because with the money, you can buy vehicles, supplies, airstrikes, etc. without writing a novel here, i highly recommend this game. i assure you, it will keep you busy for hours & hours.

Just as good, if not better than Halo, and GTA.

You are a mercenarie of course, so you basicly kill or capture people, steal vehicles, and blow stuff up for money. You start out being dropped in a wastland with 5 armys that are in there ether to gain control of as much land as possible, defend there land, or in there to stop the fighting. These five armys are, North Korea, South Korea, China, The Rusian Mafia, and the Allies aka, the USA.

This is problebly one of the 3 best games I'v played. the top 3 are, Halo 2, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and Mercinaries: Playground of destruction. If you see the vehicle, you can drive it. But for some odd reason, no boats, or planes, hmm. yet still a wide line of All kinds of transportation to choose from. Jeeps; Troop Trucks; Tanks; APC's, Hummers; Technicals (pick-up trucks with a machine gun in back.); Helicopers from small attack, to full fledged assalt choppers, to cargo/transport choppers. Civlian vehicles, such as buses, cargo trucks, cars, flat bed trucks, but no 18-wheelers. (Come on, this is in Asia, what do you expect.)

There are plenty of wepons to chose from. From an AK-47, to a Rocket Launcher, with lots of other wepons in between. You can also man statinary guns like a gun on a vehicle, a tripod stand, and a few types of stationary feild howitzers, and cannons.

If you are running low on health or ammo, you can call for a medivac (you get taken out of there to the nearest MASH), or a wide range of suppy boxes to chose from. If you need some transeportation, you can Hi-Jack a vehicle, or call in for one. You have a wide variety or vehicles to call in too. If you want to blow up a strong structurs, or cause chaos in a small area, you can call in an air strike, with plenty types to choose from too. NOTE: if you call for a medivac, supplys, transportation, or an air strike it costs money and you start out with nothing to calll in, but that changes ALOT as you go on in the game.

So all in a nut shell, if you like GTA, Halo, and miitary games, this one is just about the best you can get, But There IS NO MULTI-PLAYER, but the campaign is so good, that doesnt matter.

Mercenaries is an excellent game.Its a Third person shooting/flying/driving game with many weapons,including calling in air strikes with laser targeting and by sattelite also the ability to drive and fly just about anything incuding helicopters,tanks,military jeeps,civilian cars,etc.etc.The missions are open ended ,with the ability to hijack cars and military vehicles.You can also blow up just about anything you see ,including large buildings.The explosive effects are very nicely done and richly detalied,put C4 on a hood of a car then drive,ditch,detonate ,the car will sometimes explode into the air about 100 feet ,also when you blow up a building it implodes much like a real building does ,very realistic looking.The soundtrack is orchestra/operatic style kinda like The Godfather. The plot is not very deep,dont expect (rpg) role playing game style game at all. But this game is very fun right out of the box. There's lots to explore and see.This game is like a summer action movie ,lite on the plot,heavy on the blow stuff up shoot the bad guys.Youre up against the North Koreans and your basicaly a bounty hunter/ mercenary ,and your hired to take out enemy leaders who are represented by a deck of cards,but you dont know where they are located so you have to work for any faction of your choosing including "South Koreans,Russian Mob,CHINA,and Allied Nations or A.N.".You can work for all four Factions to do there dirty work.You'll be hired for specific contracts by each faction and they will pay you money and then usually give you a location of (CARD) enemy after you complete there contract for them.Also based on which faction you work for you might either gain or lose status with a faction depending on whether you can do your contract in stealth or finish the task by not getting the opposing faction killed or civilians killed.You can work all sides except for the "North Koreans" which of course are always your enemy in this game.The map areas are huge with open-ended playability and each (ACE) card or (boss) has there own seperate map usually an island to visit after getting all other enemies represented by the suited deck.After getting all the diamonds and clubs enemies a whole new map opens up and you then have the ability to travel between both north and south provinces. Mercenaries builds on what GTA has and takes it one step further. Buy it, steal it, hijack it, or blow it up! As a Mercenary you are hired by several countries combating the North Korean military, but each country has their own intentions. Using the support by those countries, and the Russian Mafia you complete the missions given to you. Unlike GTA where you only have guns, and other objects to use, in Mercenaries you can call for an air strike, artillery bombardment, or supply drops to resupply you. While conducting these missions, you are also contracted to capture, or kill (you decide) 52 North Korean personnel (Deck of 52 cards). Plus, you have a whole bunch of side missions like seeing how far can you displace a barrel with explosives, how fast can you drive from one point to another, etc. If you get bored (which I don't think you will) you can just go anywhere and blow anything up! I love this game!

For me, the best way to gauge how good a video game might be is how hard it is for me to put it down to go do other things. As it stands with Mercenaries, I had a lot of trouble putting the controller down. This game is simply pure addiction!

Too often, the video game industry expects us to shell out $50 for a weak or average game that you get bored with in a couple of days. Not so here. If you love blowing things up into billions of pieces and you like non linear game play (ie: Vice City) then you must own this game. The controls are easy to get used to and the first few objectives are fairly simple enough, so that you aren't getting killed over and over again. You get air strikes, C4, RPGs, machine guns and lots more. Best of all, you do it all for the old greenback.

All of this combined makes for a great gaming experience. Three cheers for Lucas Arts! You redeemed yourself after the boring KOTOR!

Doesn't have everything. But still fun.

This game is an awsome game. It has great graphics, huge playing areas, and many different weapons and vehicles to play around with. But it lacks the things that make a game GREAT. It lacks a tutorial level. They expect you to learn the game as you go. And who dares make a game today without a multiplayer mode?! The only reason why I rated this 4 stars and not 5, was because of the lack of multiplayer mode. But if I was faced with the decision to buy this game or not, I would definatly purchase this great game.

I cant believe this is so cool! The missions are so much fun and the gameplay is so realistic. The setting is so big but at the same time easy to navagate where your going. The grahics are unbeliveable and almost no bugs. The game isnt frustrating either. But theres two thigs I dont understand 1. No multiplayer mode. 2. You can not save your game in the middle of a mission. The computer is also very smart and the most realistic thing is that if you hijack say a car of the chinese the chinese will think your chinese until either you come out of the car,helicopter etc. or you kill one of them.

So if you have a ps2 or xbox this is definitely a first choice.

I rented Mercenaires and I thought this shuld be a platium hit on xbox. at the start you can choose between 3 characters which have their own unique abilites the vehicles in the game are AWESOME! There are tanks,jeeps,helicopters, humvees, and a bunch more in the game there are 5 different faction all with different vehicles and soliders you can either help out a faction by doing missions and getting payed and/or helping out their soliders when their in a battle or you can be hostile to a faction and kill their soliders or even better blow up their HQ with C4.I almost forgot each faction (except for the North Koreans which are always hostile) have their own HQ where their leader is and you walk in to get Missions.The weapons are also very awesome there are AK-47`s,rocket launchers,rpgs,shotguns,machineguns,sniper rifles,explosives, and airstrikes which are carpet bombing, Fuel Air Bomb (Seriously im not joking)surgical strikes,artillery strikes, missile strikes, and a bunch more altough airstrikes, vehicles, and weapons are bought in the store. You get the store when you complete about two missions from the russians (which are one of the factions) the vehicles section of the store is where you buy a vehicle and one of the russian helicopters will come and drop off the vehicle you ordered. in the weapons section there are different crates of weapons explosives and ammo which when ordered a helicopter will come and drop off the crate. The story of the game is quite simple there is a war in North Korea and you a mercenary must capture members of the deck of 52 which are 52 korean leaders and you try to get to general song the head dictator of North Korea and get paided for capturing members of the deck of 52 and get paided 100,000,000 dollars for capturing general song. Mercenaires is a free mode game where you can do whatever you want you can hijack any vehicle, use and weapon and just go around blowing up buildings I reccoment this to anybody

GTA + Korea + Less Bugs - Bad Auto Aim = Mercs.

This is a great game. Great graphics, great gameplay. Unfortunately some of the missions are EXTREMLY FRUSTRATING, which is NEVER good in a game. Thats why it gets 4/5 stars for fun.

Mercenaries is an excellent game. Like everyone's said, it's like Grand Theft Auto. You roam around a huge map and do missions or take on challenges or try to collect things, or you can blow up monuments for rewards. Pretty much all the buildings are destructable. You get to carry two weapons, plus grenades. The controls are very good, I never have a problem with them, especially since I've played Star Wars Battlefront a lot and this is from the same people. I was disappointed in the lack of a side-roll, but I haven't actually needed it during any of the many firefights this game has.

Hijack flying helicopters, run up the turret of a tank and throw grenades inside, level cities, and pretty much destroy everything you see. That's what this game is all about. If you don't need such overrated elements such as story and character development, this should be perfect for you.
