This is definitely the best out of the three Evil Dead games, and I liked Fistful of Boomsticks. The story is better, Ted Raimi co-stars as Sam, and the problems that Fistful had are fixed in this game. It makes for a great action title, and a real fun treat for fans of the series. Ted and Bruce are great, and the dialogue they exchange is priceless! One of the better things about this game is that Ash actually looks like Bruce Campbell, and he didn't really have that look on the previous game. The extras that are unlockable are also worth seeing, even though you have to find them throughout the game. Overall, this is a game you must play if you are a fan, because it is the best and it gives me hope for the next one.

This game is a blast to play, you have Bruce Campbell cracking one-liners, and of course you kill deadites with a chiansaw and shotgun, what more could one want.

In EVIL DEAD: REGENERATION the game begins with a short prologue explaining about how Ash and his friends stayed at the cabin in the woods, discovered the Necromonican, and brought forth the evil that raised the Deadites. After the prologue, the game has an introductory segment that allows the gamer to get used to the various controls. This segment actually takes places in the cabin in the woods. After this, the storytelling begins as Ash explains how he was convicted of murder and ended up in a sanitarium (Sunny Meadows) because no one would believe his story. No one, that is, except a beautiful blonde woman named Sally. At Sunny Meadows, one of the chief doctors, Vingo Reinhard, spends his time using the Necromonican to perform ghastly scientific experiments. Reinhard is a mad scientist and ends up stealing the book, kidnapping Sally, and transporting himself to an alternate dimension to raise an army of evil that he can use to conquer the world.
Ash's job in the game is to get back the book (hopefully to destroy it), rescue Sally, and stop Reinhard. In this adventure he's joined by a half-Deadite named Sam (voiced by Ted Raimi, brother of director Sam Raimi; Sam is dead, but he still has his soul. There's also a giant floating, phantasmic head of the original doctor who found the Necromonican who dispenses with sage advice now and again. Together Ash and Sam have to battle their way out of Sunny Meadows and through the country surrounding the place, closing portals that Reinhard has opened. It's a crappy job, but somebody has to do and who better than the chain-saw wielding hero, Ash.
I've now played both EVIL DEAD: REGENERATION and FISTFUL OF BOOMSTICK and of the two, EVIL DEAD: REGENERATION is the one I like more. The graphics of the game are a little better than in BOOMSTICK. Also, with the addition of Sam, the action of the game is more interesting and fun. I mean, there are times you have to punt Sam, put Sam on fire, and have him ride a troll-like Deadite that ends up ripping off his head. Besides, with Sam around, the dialogue of the game isn't as one-sided as it usually is-instead of monologues we are offered comedy sketches with two people.
Along the game, there are various pages of the Necromonican that Ash and Sam can collect. There are 20 of these in all and they unlock various treasures. Some of these are art concept sketches and paintings, but the majority of them are short videos with Bruce Campbell. These are a real treasure on the game. Some of the stuff is informative in a trivial way, and some of the news is now outdated (what Bruce does in SPIDER MAN II, for instance). However, all of these segments, even the outdated ones are entertaining.
For gamers who aren't familiar with the Evil Dead series, EVIL DEAD: REGENERATION doesn't offer much more than the typical video game. However, for fans of the series or fans of Bruce Campbell, the game is very entertaining.
Why Bruce WHY?????

I love the Evil Dead Movies, I love Bruce Campbell as an actor, but please quit making crappy Evil Dead games. I'm not sure what game the other reviewers are playing, but this one is utter crap. There are limited saves, so you play the same are over and over and over. You do the same moves over and over and over. And the game is greedy when it comes to giving you extra life. I guess I shoudl add that it is not greedy all of the time. It seems in the areas that you do not need health, there it is...but when you are next to dead, there is none to be seen. I would at most rent this, but why not just play Halo 2 on-line and not waste money on crappy games based on good movies!!!
Good

Ok. I'm not a Bruce Campbell nut. But, I do own all the Evil Dead Series. I'm saying this because I think alot of people who rated this game so great are in the whole cult movie "I love everything that has to do with Evil Dead"...could be wrong!? Anyways, the game is overall very repetitive. Not too many finishing moves and the deadites do the Kung fu movie thing and wait for you to kill one of thier friends before they come after you. There are some really funny moments in the game. The audiotrack is pretty good and you can tell the game was built mainly for the video segments between game play. The game is entertaining but not very challenging. I would probably give the game a 3 but $20 I cutt it a break. If you are an evil dead fan you'll love it. If you are a gamer and not so into the Evil Dead movement then renting is probably the best bet.
Finally, A Cool Evil Dead Game

Since the year 2000, THQ has been making the Evil Dead games. The 1st one wasn't all that and the 2nd one was ok. Evil Dead: Regeneration is just awesome and a great improvement.
Bruce Campbell returns to do the voice of Ash. In this game, he teams up with a half-deadite little man name Sam {Voice by Ted Raimi}, and this time you have to stop a madman from opening the gates of darkness that will destroy the world.
This game is good bloody fun and this game really reminds you of Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn. If you're not a fan of the other Evil Dead games, you will be a fan of this one.
Great game, even though a bit short

This is by far the best of the Evil Dead games. Controls are easy to learn and switching from weapon to weapon is simple. While there are some puzzles to the game, they actually make sense so they aren't nearly as annoying as some other games (the Resident Evil games come to mind). The graphics are excellent and add to overall gameplay significantly. Intended for mature gameplayers, this game has plenty of hack and slash. Camera angles, for once, don't seem to be a problem and the gameplay is fun and not overly difficult. Voice acting is superb and is quite entertaining, especially the cut scenes. Speaking of the cut scenes, they really took time to make this game appear like the original Evil Dead movie. The story line moves along at a quick pace but is not the least bit confusing. The only problem with this game is how short it is. I beat it as a rental in just a couple of days and never played it for more than a couple of hours at a time, leaving the replay value low. However, with most games in the $50 range, this under $20 gem is a must have for anyone interested in action/horror games or a fan of the Evil Dead series.

This is a really good game, great controls, voice acting and graphics. If you're a Evil Dead fan this is a must have. It's fun and it's not extremely difficult or frustrating. This is definately worth $20. I thought it was cool that this one and Fistful of Boomstick were both $20 when they came out. Don't we all wish every game would be like this. Regeneration beats most of the $50 games out there right now.
