the controls are better on the PS2

I agree this is a superb game, but I found the controls for the ps2 version to be more comfortable. on the xbox, the triggers are used for gas and brake, whereas on the ps2 gas is X and brake is square. a matter of taste, i guess, but it's odd that the controls for different versions are not the same.

IMHO, this game is more fun than Forza or Need for Speed. I bought it for my son for Christmas along with the Speedster FS, and it works fantastic. It's good fun, simple guidelines... I mean, what person wouldn't like to blow up fake cars?

This game is awesome! One of the best ways to unwind after a long drive home in bumper-to-bumper traffic. While it would be socially unacceptable and severely frowned-upon to side-swipe the guy in front of you who just cut you off and didn't use all five fingers when he waved in response to your horn-blowing, this is the perfect way to exact revenge and still remain un-incarcerated. If I had more than two thumbs, they'd all be up!

This is a fast paced high action first person driver game. The First two "Burnouts" were wimpy compared to this one! More levels, more crashing action equals more fun. Burnout Revenge is graphically more realistic than any other game I have played. The cars you win to use in other levels are amazing. This is a game that will take up alot of time because it is just that fun and exciting!!

i was a huge fan of burnout 3, the racing, crashes and even the takedowns where so realistic that you would feel sorry for the guy. now the newest one Burnour Revenge puts you on the egde of your seat. with new cars and new ways to anahilate your friends, youll never put the controller down. i have played the game from start to finished. unlocked every single car and beaten every single race with a gold. there is so much stuff to unlock youll be playing for weeks. the best part about the game is the takedowns. when you use your boost your screen blurs, giving you the "Too Fast" feeling. the music used for the game fits the game play. but if you dont like the music they have you can always use your own off your xbox. i played it online and it was really good. there is someone always online to play you. so overall i highly recommend this game to anyone who likes racing and distrution.

Better than it's predecessor?

Burnout: Revenge is the fourth [4th] Burnout game that has been released [not counting the ones on handheld portable gaming consoles], and is also the first one to be released on a "next-gen" console [the Xbox360]. In Revenge, the Burnout series takes a small step away from it's bright colors and light-hearted theme towards a more mature, grittier one [see: the darker/edgier soundtrack, as compared with the ones in previous Burnouts], and also adds new types of takedowns [for instance, the Vertical Takedown, accomplished when the player lands his car on top of a rival's] along with new racing modes [i.e.: Traffic Attack, where your objective is to keep the clock running by smashing ["checking"] traffic on the road, until you reach a specified dollar amount in damages to get a bronze, silver, or gold medal]. Obviously, new cars, along with new tracks are added. I don't recommend this game [or any of the Burnout series] to beginning gamers, as the sheer speed of the cars racing along tracks along with you, combined with the amount of mayhem that goes on around you, can be overwhelming. The Xbox [original, not the 360] version I bought looks absolutely stunning, and I'm frankly surprised the machine can handle so many things going on at once.

Lasting Appeal: 8/10

I have had this game for a long time and recently purchased another to replace an over-used original copy. It's a great game and one of my favorites of all time.

i played this game on xbox 360 and liked it...but for some reason, i LOVE it on the original xbox. its fast...fun...the areas you race in are beautiful and long..the graphics are excellent for the xbox...this is THEE racing game for the xbox, hands down, no other racing game can stack up, not even Burnout Paradise. nothing else i can say really, you just need to own this now..

In some ways I kinda regret not waiting until I got my Xbox 360, and bought this game for that instead of my old Xbox. But when playing this game that regret immediately wears off. The action racing is still among the best in gaming, crashing your opponents is still very satisfying, the graphics are still great, the cities are still great, and the crashing is still amazing. Unlocking stuff is still a lot of fun as well, and is well worth the challenging tasks given to you. So if you like crashing your opponents during a race, and you like adrenaline rushes, this is most definitely without one helluva choice for you.
