The most frustrating game EVER!

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 3 / 10

I'd love to have heard the sale pitch for making this game... "Here's a fun idea for a football game! What if we make a game where every time you throw a pass, it gets intercepted, and every time you run the ball, you're forced to fumble!" Apparently, the object of "Blitz-The League" is to see how long it takes for you to throw your controller at the TV screen and how many obscenities you can make up to scream at the game!

Here's an actual experience I've had while playing this game...
- During a tie-game, I ran the ball and got tackled by the computer, which forced me to fumble! I then managed to recover the ball with another player, who also got tackled and then fumbled! Refusing to give up, I managed to recover the ball yet again and then was forced to fumble for a THIRD TIME! Oddly enough, I didn't wind up winning that game...

In all fairness, the first third of this game is actually interesting. But once you reach Division 2, the computer starts playing really unfairly. I've had passes intercepted by defensive players who weren't even by the ball! And playing defensively isn't much more satisfying. Once you hit Division 2, you'll have a lot of times when you hit the tackle button and your player will for some reason jump in the complete opposite direction of the player you're trying to tackle.

Another aggrevation is the weekly challenges the computer gives you to win unlockables. In one game, the challenge is to land 4 dirty hits on a particular ball carrier. Since the computer only gave this ball carrier the ball TWO times in the entire game, I wasn't really able to win the challenge...

What could have been a great game is just a frustrating mess. The story mode is very shallow and definitely not interesting enough to hold your interest for the 30+ games you're required to play. (Your interest will wain after about game 3...) The voice acting is poor, and the much-hyped training and steroid use actually does nothing to improve your players abilities. And this game commits the greatest sin any game could make...it just isn't any fun!!! Skip this and stick with the licensed football games instead.

This game has to be the worst football game I have ever played. All it is is mindless cursing and violence. It is just a bad copy off of NFL street. Who ever made this terrible game has to start thinking of thier own ideas and stop stealing other peoples.

Could be a lot better.

First off, anyone who says this game is better than Madden 06 is a retard. It's no way near as good as any Madden game after 2003. The gameplay is fun, but too many flaws. First off when you create your team you don't get to pick who your players are. They pick them for you. You can't trade them or nothing. Then in the middle of a game if your QB or HB is doing lousy you can't sit them out and put in new people. Your stuck with them until they get injured. Not to mention to make your players stats go up takes forever and you don't even have control over it. You just select what attributes you want for the player and wait forever before they get any better. Plus the storyline sucks. You don't know who you are in the game. Your either a player or the coach. I can't figure it out nor do I care. I'm stayin with Madden.

Very fun game to play (if you dont like getting anything accomplished). I spent many a night playing this game and enjoyed crushing people and causing many, many injuries. However it was a giant let down to find out that after all that hard work building a team you could only continue playing with it online. What a let down. Also to find out that we couldn't play career mode with 2 people. Another let down. So unless your into crushing the opponent with nothing to show for it. Save your money.

Nice effort.....

When I seen that Madden is going to have competition this year, I was more than excited to see someone testing EA and their purchase of the market. But, after playing nearly the whole campaign and against several users, this game is OKAY at best. It really seems like this game was rushed to meet deadline. There are so many bugs that hurt this games rather than positives that enhanced it.

The first thing I noticed when playing the game was the kickoff. When you return the kick, the opposing team follows the carrier, and I mean follow. When you go right, EVERYONE goes right. The team pretty much emulates your moves w/ the controller. This reminds me of the 'ol Ten Yard Fight controls on old regular Nintendo, didn't work for them, don't know how it would work for this.

This game just really doesn't feel like a football game. It is so arcade its almost uncomfortable. NFL Street is more real football than this. And that game was over the top to the extreme. I wanted so much to love this game but there are so many things to dislike it was hard. But, needless to say, I love the injuries. Breaking someones leg or arm never gets old. But, it does amaze me that they will only sit out 2 to 3 quarters even if you do not chose to drug them up and send them back into the game.

This game overall is a renter for hardcore gamers and Madden players. I found this game just too easy. I have played Madden since Madden '95 on Sega so I know football games pretty well. I conquered this game w/in the first 10 minutes of playing. I knew what plays worked everytime by halftime. The defense unfortunately does not have knowledge of defensive plays. So, they forget to cover and are lost when you get behind the safeties and juke back and forth, like the days of Super Techmo Bowl.

I tried so much to like this game. Just way to bad to LOVE. I did like the idea of the game and the attempt Midway made on creating SOME form of competition. I could see this game being great a few years down the road. But, for now its just a starting point, and you can see a promising future, just not this year.

Just buy NFL street 2 and wait for this game next year. It will cost you 30 bucks less too.....

Not as good as Madden, BUT Hey its not madden!

This game is a very great idea, and I remember I loved the Blitz series. I havn't really played the other ones on the the systems, but this one looked good so I thought I would pick it up. To be honest the game is ..eh. its ok, nuthin great but its a different feeling than madden because I'm getting sick of playin by the rules.

The story-line is great and I love it. Your team basically sucks in the Blitz league so your head manager of the team decides to change everything , even the actual team. This is where you come in, you get to create your own team from picking between differnt starter players and even coaches and how you come about things. Then its your problem to win and as they say "at any cost!" Throughout the game you see cinematechs which is great because it keeps you entertained. I give the story-line a 5 out of 5.

The gameplay has a few problems but its alright. First off when you do a campaign before every game you can do a number of things. You can buy equipment for your players or enhance there abilities with drugs or check messages that people have sent you, like the coach and other players from different teams, and hey you can customize your cheerleading squad "cha-ching". Anyway on the field is were the problems start to occur. The gamepay is fast and fun and never slows down unless if you use the special power where you can slow time down and do specail moves like didging other players and run really fast. There is a prroblem with this however, the opposiong team uses it just as much as you do and you'll find them catching a kick-off and using the slow motin power and dodgin all your men and they just run straight down for a touchdown and there is merely nothing oyu can do because you cant tackle them once they are in it, but you find yourself getting tackled when you use it. The game does get frustrating but I love how the injuries work in the game. Once you injure say and opponent it will slow down time and show the opponents insides where you are causing the injury and you see a bone break or a tissue tear. Then, say its your man getting hurt, oyu can choose to juice him, which is basically giving him drugs to not feel the pain which can cause his injury to get worse but it never does, or you can choose to treat him. Another cool thing is that you can do dirty hits where you will perform say a back suplex or rip off his helmet and hit him with it and once you do enough to another team you can have a brawl. This gives you the chance to fight your opponents. I would have liked to seen an actual physical fight mini game but you can only run and tackle the guy and perform dirty hits. Still its awsome. Once yuo advance far in the game it gets amazingly hard though. The teams are like top notch and your team is still the same as it was in the beginning so its basically skill you need. There is another cool thing in the campaign. Right before you verse a team it shows a little clip of there best player and a man talks about him. Its so cool. It will show say a wide reciever and a guy talking will be like "dont let this guy touch the ball cause when he does, things happen." And it will show the guy jumping and catching the football and sometimes tackling guys and talking trash. Its a cool little thing. ITs a good game experience and its a much differnt gameplay from madden which is good because its something different and cool. I give the gameplay a 4 out of 5

The graphics are good. You know, normal graphics of this time, nothing amazing nothing bad. Not much to say. The fields look great and so do the players. I would give it a 3 out of 5.

Theres not much to say about the sound, and the controls are good and are eaasy to get into. It does feel a little wierd from always have your hands used to madden contrls but you get used to it after a while.

I defenitely recommend this game, just because it is different than most football games and gives a cool no rules and brawl element. Its a good thing to keep in your game library if you're a football gamer because once you've had enough playing by the rules in madden you can brawl it up in Blitz. I tell you another thing too, its a great game to take out your anger.

Better luck next time

I was a big fan of the older Blitz games. They were a diversion from Madden and other football games that I enjoyed. But Blitz: The League is a example of a good game gone wrong.
First off, the AI is cheap. Don't worry about blowing out a team, because once your up by 10 points or more you will fumble or throw interceptions without fail.
Second. The smack talk and story line get old real quick. Its funny and cool the first two or three times you hear it, but after a while you end up skiping them.
Third. Don't try to be strategic on offense or defense. You can't see enough field to see where all your reicievers are so a lot of times you end up throwing the ball blindly because your about to get sacked two seconds after you hike the ball.
Fourth. The kicking in this game is stupid. You have to press the buttons on the screen that pop up in a timely manner in order to kick a field goal or kickoff the ball. If I wanted to do this I would play Dance Dance Revolution with a controller.
The bottom line is rent it if you want to try it out. But if you already have anger issues and you get frustrated with cheating AI you might want to invest in a couple new controllers before you play this, as you will be hucking the ones you have at the T.V. in deep frustration.
Better luck next time Midway.

I rented this game and first off the controls are hard to learn, someone drops an f-bomb almost every thirty seconds, and between each play theres a cut sceene which gets annoyin, but the dirty hits are kinda cool and i like when it shows the bone breakin. Overall i give this game 3 stars.

I bought this game for a friend and played it recently. It's a great football game, cool how the created teams are and such. The gameplay is pretty cool. The Clash thing is really cool, though I couldn't ever complete a pass with it (the WR kept moving WAY off).
My only bone to pick with this game is the trash talking. I understand trash talking and all, but this was pretty extreme. They said "mother f-" like crazy, along with other f-bombs, the sh-word, and other language. Even a little wouldn't have been too bad, but it's like every play almost! Definitely unnecessary.
That's why I only give it 3 stars overall.
