Big Mutha Truckers was'nt something I thought I would own for the xbox, but my husband had this game for the pc and loved it so I found it on sale and decided to purchase it. I came home and decided to play it, I had never played the game before- and me and my little boy loved it! Its a great game! Now my husband and I fight over who gets to play it! I would suggest this game for anyone! I was worried about the way the girl truck driver was dressed on the front cover of the game and what my little boy would be exposed to seeing or hearing from the game, but its fine. He loves to watch us play it!
This is a game to own!

It's not a great game but it's pretty fun. I would have prefered it been more realistic, but what the heck. You drive a semi-truck from town to town, picking up loads, and delivering them to other towns. You get chalanged to races from other truckers. The goal is to make the most money in a 60 day period. There are some other goals in the game, but this is your main deal.
I don't like that you can just run rampant down the highway without any penalties from the law. You can run cars off the road, hit pedestrians, drive on the wrong side of the road, and all with a police car pasing by, you can even hit a police car and nothing happens. There are police chases, but I don't know what sets them off, it's not reckless driving. Cars and motercycles can pass back and forth under your trailer; moter cycles can hit your your truck and trailer and knock it around. The truck is difficult to keep in the lanes, it fishtails all over.
All that realism lacking, I still have fun playing this game. Until they come out with a "Smokey And The Bandit" game(which done right would be pretty cool), this is the only trucking game I know of for the Xbox. If your expectations aren't too high you can have a lot of fun playing this and it {is a good value}. I've definately spent more on worse games. You may want to rent it first. It wasnt' meant to be realistic, it was just meant to be fun.
Mindless fun

I thought the trucking game is definitely a good idea, although some of the controls and graphics are unrealistic. If you're looking for a serious game this ain't it, however this is a good game to just kill a few hours with mindless fun.
Cute but disappointing

As other reviewers have stated, this game has an excellent concept but was poorly executed. Driving is a farce. Crashes are unrealistic. Speeds are silly and unconvincingly rendered.
Interestingly, there are no incentives to drive fast and wreck things. This is too bad, because the only novel element of game play is imagining yourself tearing up roads and cars with a big-rig. If you have the patience, you can crawl through the few paths available at low speeds, avoid all accidents, and suffer only insignificant negative consequences.
The game contains little mini-missions from time to time. These involve driving the same roads under the same circumstances as in the rest of the game, but with a specific purpose, i.e., the destruction of certain newspaper stands.
There are only 6 possible destinations. There are no sub-plots. There is no interaction with characters or with the environment, with the exception of the cars on the road. One quickly notices there are only 4 or 5 different cars presented in various colours. In about 30 minutes the player will have seen and done everything available within the game. This is an arcade game only, and not a very good one.
a lot more thinking involved than i expected

this game starts with a real ugly old redneck chick errrrrrrr i mean your momma telling you that you and your siblings must compete for 2 months in the trucking buisness to win the family buisness.so,you travel about buying and selling whatever you are hauling.its deeply ingrained in rednecky type stuff.im just trying to say i think these people couldve used a little more chlorine in thier gene pool.if you dont want to spend all your money on gas and repairs,i suggest cheating.but, even a ten million dollar headstart wont guarantee victory!belive me i tried.your bros and sis are pros.so ask around.the soundtrack is funny the first few thousand times, but is ultimately boring and repetitive once youve heard it.i just turn the sound down and crank some outlaw country like johnny cash, david allen coe or merle haggard.the bikers are your enemy.they are forever messing with you, especialy if you have beer.you can even customize your truck with a painting option.in there ,any part you leave unpainted will be the color of your trailer.ie:i painted a naked white chick on a brown trailer.so her ethnicity was altered by the time i saw it.its ok,you can change it all you want.its fun but there are better games out there.i imagine worse ones too.
Doesn't TOTALLY blow chunks but...

The real tragedy of BMT is that the concept is so appealling. The romance of the road, big rigs, rednecks etc... The graphics are smooth and good looking. And they spent tons of time building a custom soundtrack for several ingame radio stations ala Grand Theft Auto.
BUT... the thing is this. The trucks are totally impossible to control and so unrealistic that it spoils the rest of the game. Driving an 18 wheeler on the highways is the heart of the game. And they got it wrong. Way wrong. I don't mean 'it isn't a driving SIMulation', I mean it isn't like driving anything on Earth. I have nearly a million over the road miles logged in real Peterbilts, Freightliners and Internationals. These rigs look reasonably right, but the driving dynamics are a joke.
The trailer tandems (tandem mounted axles) slide back and forth as though you have teflon tires and lane control is totally impossible.
As for the 'economics'... one full tank of diesel fuel (they call is 'GAS' in the game) costs $33,000! I'm glad this is only a game or I'd be out of business in a heartbeat. The abstract system works, but the driving is so whacked out that you won't be able to tolerate the game long enough to find out.
The GameCube version plays and looks almost identically. And as badly. So there is STILL no trucking game that is worthwhile. Not Hard Trucking for PC, not the Freightliner Century in Midtown Madness, and not even the fun arcade conversion of Sega's 18 Wheeler.
Disapointed

The over all game is not to bad, but steering the reuck is a huge challange. One big issues that we had with it was while you was in the middle of playing it would freeze then take you back to the begining fo the game. For children this could be fun game..... I know both my 11 year old and 4 year love playing this game....
Good Idea....

I like the concept. 18 wheeler in the arcade is a fun game...this game gets old real quick... the graphics are lame...the characters mouths don't even move while they talk. This isn't an atari 2600 game fer chrissakes! The music gets irritating extremely fast, the trucks are hard as hell to control, the routine is new for about 15 minutes then its just an endless cycle. I bought this game, got it on a Friday, gave it away on saturday. In my opinion, even for the cost, it isn't worth it.
