This isn't going to be a long essay of a review because let's be honest, who has time to read 5 paragraphs worth of stuff? This is a great game, but my biggest problem with it is that it's too short. The rest of the Tomb Raider games all had somewhere between 15-20 levels. And this one has...8? That's it? BUT they are very good levels that require a bit more thinking than the last few games, although AOD had some good thinky stuff too.
And my last gripe is for all of you who can't pronounce a name properly...It's LARA Croft. NOT Lora, NOT Luara, but L-A-R-A. It's phonetic. Read what you see. Ok, that's it for me.

Tomb Raider fans will love this...Lara returning to her roots (this both literal and the story of the game). That which made Lara Croft famos (tomb raiding) is back in full with stunning area's to explore. I would also rate this game a 4.5/5 (if that were an option). I was not thrilled with the ending as it was left open (which I am sure is a prompt for the next installment in the series) but there is no concrete conclusion outside of the death of a rival and a revelation to lead us into the next game if/when it is developed. This is, however, a must have for any Lara Croft Tomb Raider fans.
Pretty darn pathetic

JeSUS! Who designed the control system for this game? Anybody?
It looks pretty, I'm sure it's even interesting, but you find yourself repeating parts over and over and OVER again so often because the control system is so cock-eyed that it sucks any fun out of it that you might have been having!
And the camera sticks to the reverse angle so many times that you have no idea where you're running to! Congratulations Eidos, you've created the first Second Person shooter! Experience everything from the point of view of the target!
Buy a Learjet; It will be easier to control.

I have played every TR game that was made for the PC, and this is by far the worst of them all - even Angel of Darkness if that was possible. I am sure I would have a better chance of flying a Learjet than playing this worthless game. What a shame. I am amazed that after all the complaints of the controls from Angel of Darkness, they decided to alter the original controls MORE!!! The old controls that actually made sense are now completely gone. The interaction you used to have with Laura (like having control over her grabbing a ledge, fine movements turning in a direction, side-stepping left or right, and many more...) are now gone. I've just bought a new hard plastic frisbe.
If you were waiting for the return of the old Laura, do not buy this game!! Make sure you find a way to play it before you think about buying. I have a feeling this will be the end of Laura's legacy after screwing over so many of us who gave Eidos a second chance. If the controls of the old Laura do not come back, I will never buy another TR game.
Looks Great

Legend looked spectacular on my notebook's IPS screen. The most fun, easy to pick up and best looking out of the series. As others have said though the game is too short and puzzles are a little too easy. One of the better, recent titles that not just only has pretty graphics but also excellent gameplay.

I have bought and played each and every "Tomb Raider" PC game, the latest being "Tomb Raider-Legend". The "evolution" of Lara Croft from adventure to the next adventure is amazing. Once I've learned the keyboard commands, the game becomes more "fun". I DO use walkthroughs, however, but the gameplay itself is still VERY challenging, especially the "timed" sequences.
My 2 cents

It ran nearly flawlessly on my P4 1.8, with 512 meg of ram and a good video card. Responsive controls, looked good, never crashed. I was very pleased it was not some buggy - half baked release. Kudos to Eidos and company for that.
My over all experience was the game was good. I thought the puzzles and game play were clever and just the right level of difficulty. That is, until the later levels. The later levels had more and more of the "Climb over here, jump on that, uh oh, it's collapsing, move quick or die". So instead of exploring to figure out the solution, it's repeating the same scene over a bunch of times to get your timing right.
My other real disappointment with the game was the end level bosses. I just don't find it entertaining, fun, or creative to have "the boss" at the end of the level that must be defeated. The bosses went from manageable to completely over the top in power.
Tomb raider is, in my mind, an adventure waiting to be played; A story to be played thru. Most of the story for Legend was great, but the drudgery of repeating over-complicated timing sequences and fighting giant, over-powered beasts left me disappointed. Kind of like coming out of the movie theatre and saying to yourself, "That was ok, but if they had just done this instead, it would have been fantastic."
And one other thing. I agree with everyone else. It's WAY to short.
PC controls ruined the whole game.

I really think that new PC controls are really a bad idea and I hope Eidos comes up with a patch that can restore to traditional controls. It is important to remember that controlling camera angles using a mouse only works for some games but for TRs.
Beautiful graphics, but...

I was at first very impressed with the great graphics, and the interaction with the beautiful scenery.
But the main problem with this game is the 3rd person camera view. You are stuck with it. After an hour of playing I got tired of the unreliable camera angles. So many times, you try to make your character (Lora) make certain smart moves, only to wind up with the dumb camera engine deciding that it is best for to view a close-up of Lora's hair. I only wish that was a joke. Other times, it is ok, but only because I'm a guy. For example, I'll figure out a puzzle then almost complete it when the dumb camera engine decides that it is best to view a close-up of Lora's [...]. Yeah, it's a nice one, but it ruins the flow of the game.
I hope next time they give a first person camera engine to this game.
BY THE WAY: WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH HALF OF THESE REVIEWS THAT GIVE THIS GAME 5 STARS?? THEY SOUND LIKE THEY ARE JUST PROMOTIONS FROM THE COMPANY THAT MADE THE GAME. IF YOU WORK FOR, OR HAVE A VESTED INTEREST IN THE COMPANY THAT MADE THIS GAME, THAT IS ONE THING. BUT IF YOU ARE TYPING IN AN ADVERTISING SALES PITCH IN YOUR REVIEW, CUT THAT OUT. The graphics in this game are great, but the game play is just average... or below average. The camera angles are so random that it ruins what would otherwise be a great game. Oh, that, and the AI of the enemies that just stand there while you shoot at them. The AI is also way below average.
TERRIBLE game!

I am a fan of the TR series, but this game is absolutely HORRIBLE!! The controls are terrible, and you spend alot of time looking at the back of her ponytail! You cannot adjust the camera angles and the controls are VERY sluggish and I have a Bad-A machine with the latest hardware. The puzzles are almost impossible to solve unless your timing is A-1 PERFECT!!! Once you pass the introductory level, the game is short and is over before you know it. If you must buy this game, wait awhile until it goes on sale, unless you just have money to waste! EDIOS needs to get it's act together if they have a sequel because it can't get much worse!
