Great Game

This is my first attempt at a rainbow six game and I am impressed. I really enjoy it. It has a training section that really helps and gets you up and running in a jiffy. I did the training a few times and was pretty good in no time. This game is pretty comparable to SWAT 3 & 4.
Customizable teams. You choose the clothes and weapons(there are a bunch to choose from, including explosives like breachers and Flash bangs). You can even set up snipers. Cool feature is that you can toggle between players. In game cooperation is essential and not really a lone wolf game. Their is also a muliplayer feature.
I'm convinced and I am now on board with rainbow six. When I'm done I'll try one of the newer ones. Hope this helps

Over all this game is really good. The best features are being able to completley custimize your team, and create a plan of attack. The terriost are dumber on easy and smarter on hard, but they are always fun to shoot at. The game is really realistic in that, if you get hit hard you either die or are injured and when you are injured the next shot will kill you and while you are injured you can't run and shooting isn't as acurite. You do have a lot of people (team members) that you can become once dead. There are a lot of different tatical aspects too.

Cons, This game does have a few cons though, first you can't jump which does elimnate the stupid bunyy hopping shooting fanatics on multyplayer, but you can't clear opsticals or do some other stuff. The planing stage is also kinda difficult to do so it is exicuted perfectly, (luckly the computer has a alread set plan for most levels) and lastly some of the explosives either need a really well cordinted plan or they don't make any sense.

over all this is a sweet game and i would recomend it.

This game played with a couple of your online friends using a voice program and some practice, you and your buddies will rule the net. If you are a Tom Clancy game fan you will love it. If you thought the older Clancy games were a little to complicated or hard to play, this game is making it easier for you run and gunners to enjoy it. I highly recommend this game when it hits the stores. If the demo is this good, I can not wait for the full release!

(breif review)...

I'm a huge fan of the rainbow six series, and this latest release doesnt let me down. Nearly every aspect of the game is very well done and pollished..... the gfx, sound, gameplay, maps, weapons, and gadgets are all superb.... the UI and the AI arnt perfect, but they arnt poor either... nothing a patch cant fix.

Bottom line is this is a *very* fun game to play online... i love it more than counter-strike... i would argue it has more depth and requires more stratigy.

If you are a fan of online FirstPersonShooter games, then get this game.... you wont be disappointed.

OK, so the game has some minor imperfections such as the fact you can only shoot through some doors and the bad guys sometimes are just staring at a wall instead of at you. On the other hand, as a current SWAT team member, I can tell you that this is the most realistic of all the 1st person sims that I've played, including the SWAT series by Sierra. A few other minor problems like the fact you arent already equipped with a gas mask, you have to equip it taking up valuable space. Overall, a must buy with some super realism.

Raven Shield - Possibility for Game of the Year

As a huge fan of the Rainbow Six games, I was truly ecstatic to find out that a new installment was coming out. I was not disappointed. This game is awesome.
This new Rainbow Six vastly differs from the previous ones. It now is much more realistic in terms of how real counter-terrorism teams operate, the way the terrorists collapse after you kill them are much more realistic, there is a multitude of new guns, and on each you can put an attachment, making a lot of combinations possible, and the graphics in general are much, much better.
Although it is rather expensive with a $$ price tag, it is definitely worth every penny. For all of you FPS junkies out there, your collection is not complete until you get this one.

Read this if you are having trouble deciding on this one!

Many people have been hearing terrible rumors regarding horrible gameplay even on the most advanced of systems. I can tell you this is not the truth. I too was concerned with such tales of horror but I finally got the time and downloaded the demo. I cranked the graphics and resolution on my machine and the game ran very smooth. I was kinda wondering what the heck? Wheres all these god-aweful problems? Well, it seems that Nvidia users will not experience near the problems that ATI users will. I'm a Nvidia graphics card user and have experienced zero problems. But the ATI graphics card users may. So if your an ATI owner you may want to download the demo first and see how it works for you.

Other then that problem (which i didn't even experience) this game is a freak'n blast! I have not had this much fun in the R6 series until now. If you liked any of the other rainbow games, get off your rump and get to the nearest game retailer! What a wonderful addition to the tac-sim based shooters. This may not be a game for you Quake or Counter Strike fans. This game requires skill beyond that off running around like a chicken with it's head cut off blasting people! My only gripe is that the rag doll physics used can be very unrealistic. For example you may shoot an enemy and see him fall to the ground and fold in half. This is not common but is an issue that should be noted. I personally think it is funny, :-) Also the enemy AI and can be extremely smart or at times very dumb. It adds a variety to the skill level of the enemies but some times is just stupid. If these minor problems can be looked over you have an excellent game here. UBI is currently working on a patch to fix the rag doll and some mod makers are working on the AI problems. Pick this one up if you don't think you will have hardware problems, its well worth it!

Great tactical first person shooter

This is a great tacticle first person shooter. Be warned action shooter fans this probly isnt for you, this game requires patience and you probly just wont breeze through every level on the first try. I also found some of the later mission a bit on teh difficutl side. There is a stealth mission which requires you not to be seen let alone shoot someone which I found very out of place and frustrating. I'd also like the adress the issue of how it will run. Anther review somewhere areound here said that it will definately run fine on an nvidia card (from personal experience) but didn't know how it would work on an ati card. I'm running an ati card, have everything cranked to max and it runs perfect. Actually I believe the game is ati optimised seeing an ati advertisement packaged with the game. Now back to how the game plays. This game is a hyperrealistic fps if yourve never played a rainbow six game before, 1-2 shots kills you. I found the multiplayer fun, but it isn't for everyone, its a counterstrike inspired multiplayer game in most aspects, once your dead your out of the round. As a whole this isdefinatly a fun game, but not for everyone.

The one shot one kill legacy continues!

Rainbow Six 3 is a continuation of the rainbow six trilogy. It's based on unreal's glorious engine, allowing much more immerse, realistic, and improved lighting and shadow and texturing effects to be added to the game's immersion. These effects indeeed relate to splinter cell's graphics features!

And are very realistic, and provide a scary immersion. Modern 3D sound board support with EAX and 3D audio with dolby surround really adds a real feeling, and can be quite useful to detect your enemies in a situation where vision cannot come to aid. Game-play still remains the hyper realistic soul one shot one kill remains, and the action is more fast paced and not as stealthy as it was in the other two rainbow six games.

The A.I is relatively good but not great, when it comes to finding their scripted triggers and paths, they do not always suffice. Other wise, A.I is decent. Single player campaigns and even custom campaigns proove to be very difficult, but with a load of weapons and more movement variety of options, more use of high-tech equipement, more enemies and much more realistic immersive environments, and much more commands and interaction, rainbow six 3 prooves a bit simpler than it's prequels.

Multiplayer is very fun, and Counter-Strike inspired. All these modes like death match in realistic locations with all the weapons and stuff is very cool. Night vision adds more immersion to the game, and the fast paced action more possible with the UNREAL engine really makes the game a more enjoyable experience. Another problem; the physics engine!

I anticipated way more from the unreal engine's rag doll physics. For an example: When you kill an enemy, they do not realistically fall to the ground like in games such as UT2K3. The storyline is a bit thin, nothing special.

And a little uninspiring, plus boring. And more! Generally, although, despite the game's minor flaws is a very enjoyable experience, thus, rainbow six still retaines the soul purpose of the rainbow six series games! But isn't a must have for people who haven't played the rainbow six series games or do not really relate to them, but that's OK, because for rainbow six fans this is a must-have without a doubt. And that's the really sweet spot. :P

Slick but thin

This is a good-looking game, great range of small arms (although no grenade launchers or bazookas), cool graphics and animation. The squad controls are easy to use and a valuable addition to an FPS, even if they're not entirely effective.

But underneath the slick exterior, you'll encounter the same problems and frustrations that dog nearly every game in this genre.

The AI can be crap. If you throw down a little bit of smoke and stand in it, the terrorists, or "tangos", will not be able to spot you even though you can still see them. On the other hand, on some occasions they become remarkably eagle-eyed and can spot you from the other side of a darkened meat-processing plant even though you are using night vision goggles and they are not.

The game also incorporates features to make it more "realistic", which instead only succeed in irritating you. It incorporates an artificial level of inaccuracy into your fire so that when you're running or coming to stop you'll often find you can't hit anything even though your sights appear to be right on target. You can be in the ludicrous situation where you are blazing away at point blank range with an M60 at a tango who, after a suitable pause, will gun you down with his pistol, then run away, unhurt. Your weapons also jump around all over the place from the kick from the rounds (although you can learn to control it by dragging down on your gun).

I could live with these problems if the tangos were in the same boat, but they are not. They have no problems with accuracy, quite the opposite. Even when they are moving, the tangos' aim is unfailing after one or two bursts. They are also undeterred by your fire. Sure, some will run or switch positions when they see you. But they rarely will they take cover or become pinned down, even when you are putting heavy covering firing on them.

This means that one of the most potentially enjoyable elements of the game - long and complicated shootouts, are rare. The makers should consider lowering the accuracy of the terrorists in the next game and making them more like real human beings who fear for their lives when thousands of rounds are raining down on them. (The game also incorporates an "auto-aim" function that is optional for human players but seems to be used by all the AI combatants, making them lethal.)

The missions are okay, with great ambient sound effects and gore. The best are when you are shooting it out in a tycoon's house, peppering his wall paper with holes and smashing huge panes of glass. But again (I never know why FPS game designers always do this), the makers incorporate a finicky stealth mission where you have to creep around and are not permitted to shoot anyone or be seen. Are these missions really anyone's idea of fun? MoH Allied Assault incorporated these sorts of missions too and they were just as annoying there.

The other good and bad part of Raven Shield is the mission planning. This lends an element of strategy to the game that makes it more interesting and extends its life a bit. But the mousework setting up the mission plans can be awkward, with waypoints pointing in the wrong direction so that your team might be left facing a wall with their backs to a multitude of tangos. There are other limitations, for instance, you also can't get the team to throw grenades over balconies onto other floors.

This is a fun game but one mission quickly blends in with the others after a short while. Together with the niggling elements mentioned above, it quickly starts to feel like any other FPS.
