Ok, I am not a true Sims fan so I may be a bit biased when it comes to this game. I find it to be a bit on the boring side. I may have to continue playing around with it and see what "new features" I encounter along the way. If anyone can offer suggestions on game play, please inform.

I HOPE YOU'RE PATIENT

I really think that this game is a really fun game, and having it portable on the PSP is awesome. The thing I didn't like about it though is that I felt like I was always waiting for it to load. Even when I was in the middle of game play, the game would slow down for it to load. I felt like EA must not have tested this game much, or else they would have discovered that obvious bug.

I enjoyed the Sims 2 for PSP even with the bugs. Anyone truly a fan of the Sims would have seen past extensive loading times and just played the game to its fullest. Hopefully, we won't have to deal with any bugs for the Pets.

Sims 2 was truly beautiful on the PSP and I am very excited and anxious to get my hands on Pets as I believe I will enjoy it even more!!

Very Happy

I never really played video games before, so I can't compare it to others, but I basically liked the game. I did have some issues with it. It takes forever to load, and sometimes the characters freeze up while everything around them is working. I also didn't like the fact that the Sims can't do anything outside the limits of the fence and front yard. Also, I didn't like having to check on my character's and character's pet's food and sleep statuses. I did like the fact that when the Sim bought skill objects or performed certain activities that it would get rewarded with promotions, upgrades, or other extra goodies. Training pets take a long time too, especially for tricks that certain animals don't normally do. For example my cat hasn't mastered how to "speak" so I focused on other cat things. My cat learned "come here" quickly, which i think all animals do. I hate that a lot of my Sims' tasks repeat themselves, i.e. cooking, shopping, mingling. In addition, to get job promotions your Sim needs a certain amount of friends. When my Sim went to work, she had the appropriate amount of friends, but when she got back from work, she didn't get the promotion, because she lost a friend status. You have to keep checking friend levels because sometimes they fluctuate wildly.
I liked the graphics, the sarcasm (especially when you read the descriptions of the goods in the "buy menu" and town square, most noticeably about the orientalism and the oriental tub). I like making my Sim look like me and my Sim cat like my cat (both to a certain extent). Also I think it's funny that sometimes you are forced to make enemies, and sometimes even arch enemies. I love that Sims can get promoted, and that you could buy a new, much bigger home if you have the money.
In short, it is a very good game. Though it has some of its drawbacks, I was still very pleased. I was on Christmas vacastion and would spend hours at a time playing the game. It makes you wonder if our lives could be that simple.

This game is great for the Playstation Portable. I just love it. It is very similar to the console version for the Playstation 2. I love it because I can carry the miniature version with me. It has great graphics too. I love the shops, the pet store, the emporium, the bakery, etc., These are the awesome places where you can buy your pet all kinds of wonderful food, toys, treats and even clothes. Great game, I love it.

The Sims 2 Pets (a kid's review)

This game is awesome! The graphics are about the same as The Sims 2 for PSP but so many features were added. For example, the Create-a-pet feature which lets you moirph your cat or dog as you're making it. Unlike The Sims 2 , this game is mainly about taking care of pets an having your sim(s) live good lives. This game is awesome.

Good game - very different from Sims 2 PSP

I played Sims 2 for PSP last year and I really enjoyed it. It was the first Sims game I had ever played. I could live with the slow load times because I thought the story was so funny and that the overall game was so off-beat.

Sims 2 Pets is completely different from S2PSP. From what I have read, this is much more like other Sims games. There is no storyline with a beginning and an end. You can create one or more Sims along with their pets, or you can select an existing family. Your Sim then gets a job, makes friends (or enemies, if you want) and can even get married. You start with a small house, and over time you can add-on (provided you have enough cash). You can switch to a different family during the game and play from their perspective.

EA did make some improvements from S2PSP. The load times are better, although there are times when the game will pause for 5 or so seconds while it does a load. I have only played for about 10 hours or so, and overall, the load times are much better. The graphics are good, but there can be some distortion in the facial features.

The pets are a fun addition. You can have a dog or cat (or both, if you want). I found myself focusing so much on other things that I forgot about the cat. Consequently, she destroyed the sofa! (it disappeared after awhile, so I can only assume that she wrecked it). I let the relationship meter wind down to zero, which isn't good. You can play as the pet if you want, although I didn't do that too much.

Overall, this is a very good, compelling game. I didn't find it to be that fun, but it will keep your attention. I was disappointed that there was not a storyline, like S2PSP. I am guessing that for a lot of Sims players, this will actually be a good thing.

The good:
- improved load times
- the sanity meter is a little easier to maintain. In S2PSP, there were times when all I could focus on was my character's sanity meter
- ability to play as different characters
- "classic" mode - this allows you to step back and let your Sims do their own thing.
- pets are pretty funny
- more variety of character interactions - chat, gossip, brag, insult, etc.

The bad:
- no storyline
- no freeroam, like S2PSP. Your character can't leave the yard except to go to the townsquare or to work. However, you can switch characters and play out of a different setting.
- a little too much emphasis on "care and feeding" (of your Sim and the pet)
- I found the "Buy Menu" a little confusing at first. It was hard to sell items.
